In this video I get to talk with Jon Wynn shortly after he won the Men’s Pro race in HYROX Madrid (in a time of just over 60 mins). It was just his 3rd HYROX ever. On the call Jon talks about how he trains for HYROX, his sporting background, as well as being very open and honest about his time in the Australian special forces, and his struggles with alcohol addiction after leaving the military (he's now been 2 years sober). It's a really interesting call with an amazing athlete. In this video I get to sit with George Edwards who is one of the UK HYROX “Master Trainers”. He’s a very experienced personal trainer, and in this chat, we have a great discussion about his thoughts on HYROX, some of his training principles for HYROX, how he’s coping with and training around his calf injury right now which is stopping him from running, what it means to be a master trainer and lots more. George is also good friends and business partners with the elite HYROX athletes Tom Hogan and Hunter McIntyre, and we get into some of the qualities that he sees in the two of them that perhaps separate them from other HYROX athletes. It’s a really good discussion that I think will be helpful, and interesting, whatever level youre at. A look at the results and data from the second UK based HYROX race of the 2022/23 season, in London (and the London Excel), which took place on 19th November 2022. It was the biggest HYROX event ever, with 5000 athletes competing on the day, plus 2000 spectators. Several age group world records were broken. In this video I get to sit with Robert Woods. Also known as “Woodsy Workout” from his excellent YouTube channel, Robert is a HYROX athlete and personal trainer. Coming into HYROX with more of a strength background, we chat about how he has adapted his training to cope with the running demands of the sport, some of the mistakes he believes a lot of people make when training for HYROX, how he balances his strength training with endurance, some of what he considers to be the upper limit of strength requirements to compete in HYROX, how training, pacing and nutrition might differ between elite athletes and slower athletes, and much more. It was a great chat with a thoughtful and impressive personal trainer and HYROX athlete. A look at the results from HYROX Essen, which saw a new World Record, 2 age group world records, plus some of the biggest names in the sport competing.
