Heather Fortner: Why Finance Needs Psychology to be Successful

As CEO, Heather leans into her passion for listening – to the SignatureFD team, its clients, and the industry – to create and implement the organization’s vision and mission to impact the lives of 10,000 families.Practicing a “coach with empathy” leadership style, Heather leverages her unique ability to harmonize people’s passions and talents to build teams and lead organizations that deliver excellent and inspiring client experiences.Prior to joining SignatureFD in February of 2003, Heather was senior operations supervisor at a trust company, managing all portfolio and security operations. She also worked for an investment management firm in Marietta, Georgia, as a financial associate.  In this episode, Dean Newlund and Heather Fortner discuss:What it takes to live a Net Worthwhile life Shifting your mindset about money Internal baggage on financial discussions Developing financial literacy while young Key Takeaways:Living a Net Worthwhile life means aligning your wealth in service to what you consider worthwhile in life. Working on investing in what's worthwhile in your life starts with an internal mindshift. You have to trust the financial planning experts, because if you don’t learn to let go you’ll be stuck. A lot of people carry a lot of baggage and a lot of fear around the discussion of money. This fear often causes people to become stuck. It takes some skill to have financial conversations. Letting go of those fears and baggage starts with identifying and discussing them. Financial literacy should start young. We need to catch them while they are young before they are able to make any big decisions that would cost them huge consequences so that they’ll grow up as financially healthy and responsible adults.  "We are able to meet people where they’re at, help them on the journey to identifying those things that are worthwhile to them but then we also have this beautiful, technical expertise to help them align all of their wealth to the service of those things they find worthwhile. The overlap of those two things is what we call ‘Net Worthwhile’." —  Heather Fortner See Dean’s TedTalk “Why Business Needs Intuition” here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EEq9IYvgV7IConnect with Heather Fortner:  Website: https://signaturefd.com/LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/heatherfortner/ | https://www.linkedin.com/company/signaturefd/Twitter: https://twitter.com/SignatureFD  Connect with Dean:YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgqRK8GC8jBIFYPmECUCMkwWebsite: https://www.mfileadership.com/The Mission Statement E-Newsletter: https://www.mfileadership.com/blog/LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/deannewlund/Twitter: https://twitter.com/deannewlundFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/MissionFacilitators/Email: dean.newlund@mfileadership.comPhone: 1-800-926-7370Show notes by Podcastologist: Justine Talla  Audio production by Turnkey Podcast Productions. Alejandra Slatapolsky: How To Scale A Business WHILE Building Long Term Relationships.

Alejandra Slatapolsky is a communications and marketing leader with over 20 years of experience in B2B financial services, fintech, and technology. She has helped dozens of companies expand their businesses and create awareness through thought leadership strategies. She has designed and implemented successful communication strategies drawing from a background in marketing, strategic event planning, journalism, public relations, digital strategies, and education.Ms. Slatapolsky is currently the Co-Founder of Scalto, a creative consultancy focused on helping companies become truly scalable, from a branding and communications perspective. In this episode, Dean Newlund and Alejandra Slatapolsky discuss:Ways on how you could find your passion How important personal branding is for interviewees Finding your audience in the right place The difference between connections and relationship Key Takeaways:Figure out your message, your passion, or your “why”. A good way to find it is to ask yourself what makes you tick or what makes you angry. Your personal branding as an interviewee is important. A resume is in essence a document of showing who you are, what you got, and how you want to be perceived. Present yourself and present your passion. Reaching out to your ideal audience is a matter of finding the right forum or the right place to share your brand and your message. Each forum has a specific subculture that you have to explore in order to communicate effectively. There’s a big difference between connection and relationship. Technology has made creating connections a lot easier but it isn’t a good substitute for solid, real-world relationships.  "What makes you angry… that’s a way of finding your passion." —  Alejandra Slatapolsky   See Dean’s TedTalk “Why Business Needs Intuition” here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EEq9IYvgV7IConnect with Alejandra Slatapolsky:  Website: www.scalto.comLinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/alejandraslatapolskyTwitter: https://twitter.com/aleslata  Connect with Dean:YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgqRK8GC8jBIFYPmECUCMkwWebsite: https://www.mfileadership.com/The Mission Statement E-Newsletter: https://www.mfileadership.com/blog/LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/deannewlund/Twitter: https://twitter.com/deannewlundFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/MissionFacilitators/Email: dean.newlund@mfileadership.comPhone: 1-800-926-7370 See Dean’s TedTalk “Why Business Needs Intuition” here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EEq9IYvgV7I Connect with Dean:YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgqRK8GC8jBIFYPmECUCMkwWebsite: https://www.mfileadership.com/The Mission Statement E-Newsletter: https://www.mfileadership.com/blog/LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/deannewlund/X (Twitter): https://twitter.com/deannewlundFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/MissionFacilitators/Email: dean.newlund@mfileadership.comPhone: 1-800-926-7370 Show notes by Podcastologist: Hanz Jimuel AlvarezAudio production by Turnkey Podcast Productions. Elena Paweta: Be A Better Presenter By Following Ted-Talk Tips

Dr. Elena Paweta is an executive communication coach, speaker, TEDx organizer, and university professor. She conducts courses, trainings, and workshops on effective communication and business presentations internationally. Dr. Elena is a TEDx speaker and has played a big role in organizing TEDx and TEDxWomen conferences in Poland for the last 8 years. She is also a marathon runner and mother of 2 daughters. Her clients are among others: KPMG, PwC, Bosch, Deloitte, Bridgestone, GE Healthcare, Nestle, Santander Bank, Goldman Sachs, and AstraZeneca. In this episode, Dean Newlund and Elena Paweta discuss:Two types of confidence Reducing self-consciousness Creating a balance in your story Being aware of your patterns  Key Takeaways:The outer confidence is much easier to work on, practice good posture, gestures, eye contact, and voice projection. Inner confidence is more about your mindset but building outer confidence can contribute to building your inner confidence. Focus on the value that the audience could get from your message and how it could change their life. Doing this will help you keep the focus out from yourself, it will make you feel less self-conscious. Create a balance of inspiration and information in your speech. Make sure to always include facts in your message, along with your personal story. If you want to improve as a speaker you have to be aware of the patterns you do that hinder you from being the most effective speaker you can be. Ask somebody you trust to point out your blind spots and contemplate on their feedback.  "We need to not only show how confident we are but we also have to feel this confidence." —  Elena Paweta See Dean’s TedTalk “Why Business Needs Intuition” here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EEq9IYvgV7IConnect with Elena Paweta:  Website: https://elenapaweta.com/Email: info@elenapaweta.comTwitter: https://twitter.com/elenapawetaInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/elena.pawetaFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/DrElenaPawetaYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCMsDTwao-1i7xwFwN6RblDg  Connect with Dean:YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgqRK8GC8jBIFYPmECUCMkwWebsite: https://www.mfileadership.com/The Mission Statement E-Newsletter: https://www.mfileadership.com/blog/LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/deannewlund/Twitter: https://twitter.com/deannewlundFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/MissionFacilitators/Email: dean.newlund@mfileadership.comPhone: 1-800-926-7370 See Dean’s TedTalk “Why Business Needs Intuition” here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EEq9IYvgV7I Connect with Dean:YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgqRK8GC8jBIFYPmECUCMkwWebsite: https://www.mfileadership.com/The Mission Statement E-Newsletter: https://www.mfileadership.com/blog/LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/deannewlund/X (Twitter): https://twitter.com/deannewlundFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/MissionFacilitators/Email: dean.newlund@mfileadership.comPhone: 1-800-926-7370 Show notes by Podcastologist: Hanz Jimuel AlvarezAudio production by Turnkey Podcast Productions. Dr. Kumar is also part of the Partner-Alliances Collective, a group of professionals involved in managing alliances.Dr. Kumar has a passion for reading, spirituality, and wine tasting. His global experience adds to his vast knowledge, in which he has many fascinating stories to tell. In this episode, Dean Newlund and Dr. Rajesh Kumar discuss:How your culture defines you Immersing yourself in a culture Giving value to both the process and the result The limits of social media interaction  Key Takeaways:Culture sets you out, it defines who you are - it creates that demarcation between you and the other. Simply traveling or passing by isn’t enough to understand a culture, you have to immerse yourself in it and internalize it. Something individualistic societies can learn from eastern, collectivist cultures is giving as much value to the process as one does the result. This in turn also prioritizes the relationship more than the transaction. Social media is great for creating connections and conveying information to a lot of people at the same time. However, the best way to develop relationships still lies in spending time together face to face.   "[On negotiation] Of course there’s a transaction, but it is much more than that. You really need to spend a lot of time in terms of… developing a relationship, becoming comfortable with each other." — Dr. Rajesh Kumar See Dean’s TedTalk “Why Business Needs Intuition” here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EEq9IYvgV7I Connect with Dr Rajesh Kumar:  Website: http://www.globalstrategicadvisory.comLinkedIn: http://www.linkedin.com/in/rajesh-kumar-81aa6a10  Connect with Dean:YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgqRK8GC8jBIFYPmECUCMkwWebsite: https://www.mfileadership.com/The Mission Statement E-Newsletter: https://www.mfileadership.com/blog/LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/deannewlund/Twitter: https://twitter.com/deannewlundFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/MissionFacilitators/Email: dean.newlund@mfileadership.comPhone: 1-800-926-7370Show notes by Podcastologist: Justine Talla  Audio production by Turnkey Podcast Productions. SaaS Partners helps clients with everything from business ideation to product/service development to building scalable marketing strategies and everything in between. In this episode, Dean Newlund and Patrick Parker discuss:Allowing your people to fail Being clear and being accountableHow to be consumer-centric Building a personal brand  Key Takeaways:Encourage people to fail. Give people the opportunity to experiment and try new things. Give them room to fail because through that failure they'll be able to create fresh ideas and learn new things. Communicate the company’s values clearly and hold yourself to those standards and values. Then, hold your staff accountable to those values as well. Be clear and be the example. For a business to be successful, you have to have a clearly-defined customer profile. You have to go deep on the pain points they’re having. If you want to build a personal brand, the key is in your visibility and consistency. You have to put yourself out there, make yourself discoverable, find out how people find you, and invest in that. You also have to cut out content consistently.  "Without accountability, everything falls apart. Without visibility and without clearly communicating and articulating what those values are, might as well not have them." — Patrick Parker See Dean’s TedTalk “Why Business Needs Intuition” here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EEq9IYvgV7I Connect with Patrick Parker:  Website: https://saaspartners.io/LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/patrickbparker/  Connect with Dean:YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgqRK8GC8jBIFYPmECUCMkwWebsite: https://www.mfileadership.com/The Mission Statement E-Newsletter: https://www.mfileadership.com/blog/LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/deannewlund/Twitter: https://twitter.com/deannewlundFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/MissionFacilitators/Email: dean.newlund@mfileadership.comPhone: 1-800-926-7370Show notes by Podcastologist: Justine Talla  Audio production by Turnkey Podcast Productions. Andrea Edwards: Having the Courage to Trust your Intuition

Andrea T. Edwards, CSP, The Digital Conversationalist, is a globally award-winning B2B communications professional, who works with the world’s largest companies on the transformation needed to maximize business growth in our digital future. A change agent, provocateur, author, passionate communicator, and social leader. Andrea is all about helping businesses understand how they can empower employees to delight customers, grow personal career opportunities, and build brand success. Andrea’s book – Uncommon Courage – is a deeper reflection on life, plus an invitation to courage, so we can tackle the biggest issues the world is facing, together. Her first book ‘18 Steps to an All-Star LinkedIn Profile’ is on two Book Authority listings as the ‘100 Best LinkedIn Books of All Time’ and ‘22 Best New LinkedIn eBooks To Read In 2021 and 2022.’ In this episode, Dean Newlund and Andrea Edwards discuss:Trusting your intuition What happens when we ignore intuitionFocusing on the solution Hearing your own voice again Key Takeaways:It’s important to pay attention to your intuition and to trust it. There is a sweet spot where intuition and data meet, but that opportunity doesn’t always present itself. Ignoring intuition is ignoring a level of intelligence that’s needed in this world. Intuition is a sensory faculty that sees, hears, and understands data that isn’t easily uncovered by ordinary means. We live in a world that’s saturated with many different kinds of fears. We should be able to listen to that fear but instead of feeling doomed, focus on how we could change what we need to in order to make things better. Find silence in your life. Turn off everything, and put the noise of the world out of your head so that you’ll be able to hear your own voice again. This is where intuition starts and this is how you’ll be able to cultivate it.   "Someone who’s intuitive is a data gatherer in their own right." — Andrea Edwards See Dean’s TedTalk “Why Business Needs Intuition” here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EEq9IYvgV7I Connect with Andrea Edwards:  Website: www.andreatedwards.com | www.uncommon-courage.com  Twitter: https://twitter.com/AndreaTEdwardsLinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/andreatedwards/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/TheDigitalConversationalistFacebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/uncommoncourageaninvitationInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/uncommonandrea/  Connect with Dean:YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgqRK8GC8jBIFYPmECUCMkwWebsite: https://www.mfileadership.com/The Mission Statement E-Newsletter: https://www.mfileadership.com/blog/LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/deannewlund/Twitter: https://twitter.com/deannewlundFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/MissionFacilitators/Email: dean.newlund@mfileadership.comPhone: 1-800-926-7370 See Dean’s TedTalk “Why Business Needs Intuition” here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EEq9IYvgV7I Connect with Dean:YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgqRK8GC8jBIFYPmECUCMkwWebsite: https://www.mfileadership.com/The Mission Statement E-Newsletter: https://www.mfileadership.com/blog/LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/deannewlund/X (Twitter): https://twitter.com/deannewlundFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/MissionFacilitators/Email: dean.newlund@mfileadership.comPhone: 1-800-926-7370 Show notes by Podcastologist: Hanz Jimuel AlvarezAudio production by Turnkey Podcast Productions. Nick Morgan: Being Heard in a Virtual World

About Dr. Nick Morgan: He is one of America’s top communication theorists and coaches. He is a passionate teacher committed to helping people find clarity in their thinking and ideas and then delivering them with panache.  Fortune 50 companies have commissioned him to write for many CEOs and presidents.  He has coached people to give Congressional testimony, appear on the Today Show, and deliver unforgettable TED talks.  He has worked widely with political and educational leaders.  And he has himself spoken, led conferences, and moderated panels at venues around the world.  His latest book, on virtual communication, is Can You Hear Me? published by Harvard in 2018.  Nick’s methods, which are well-known for challenging conventional thinking, have been published worldwide.  His acclaimed book on public speaking, Working the Room:  How to Move People to Action through audience-centered Speaking, was published by Harvard in 2003 and reprinted in paperback in 2005 as Give Your Speech, Change the World:  How to Move Your Audience to Action.  His book on authentic communications, Trust Me, was published by Jossey-Bass in January 2009.   His book on brain science and communication, Power Cues, was published by Harvard in 2014.  Nick served as editor of the Harvard Management Communication Letter from 1998 – 2003.  In addition, he has written hundreds of articles for local and national publications.  Nick is a former Fellow at the Center for Public Leadership at Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government.    After earning his PhD. in literature and rhetoric, Nick spent several years teaching Shakespeare and Public Speaking at the University of Virginia, Lehigh University, and Princeton University.  He first started writing speeches for Virginia Governor Charles S. Robb and found his own communications consulting organization, Public Words, in 1997.    Nick attributes his success to his honest and direct approach that challenges even the most confident orators to rethink how they communicate.   In this episode, Dean Newlund and Nick Morgan discuss:Blindspots in communication Some tips on dealing with nerves Overcoming limitations in virtual communications Delegating tasks during a meeting Key Takeaways:Our fear response when communicating is a primordial instinct that is not relevant in our current day anymore. The tribe will not leave you to die to apex predators if you say something the wrong way anymore. Redefine nervousness into a feeling of fun, thrill, or excitement - like lining up for a rollercoaster ride. Virtual communications mess with our senses, and that affects our ability to communicate well and understand others. To combat this, play with the space a bit, use more hand gestures and try not to look at the screen that shows your face. Delegate an MC to keep track of and encourage audience participation in the meeting. It has to be someone other than the speaker, and it would be too much to handle for one person.  "All virtual relationships degrade over time; you need to have face-to-face meetings with business folks you have long-term relationships with." —  Nick Morgan.  See Dean’s TedTalk “Why Business Needs Intuition” here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EEq9IYvgV7I Connect with Nick Morgan:  Website: https://publicwords.com/ | http://drnickmorgan.com/Twitter: https://www.twitter.com/DrNickMorganLinkedIn: www.linkedin.com/in/drnickmorgan  Connect with Dean:YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgqRK8GC8jBIFYPmECUCMkwWebsite: https://www.mfileadership.com/The Mission Statement E-Newsletter: https://www.mfileadership.com/blog/LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/deannewlund/Twitter: https://twitter.com/deannewlundFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/MissionFacilitators/Email: dean.newlund@mfileadership.comPhone: 1-800-926-7370 See Dean’s TedTalk “Why Business Needs Intuition” here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EEq9IYvgV7I Connect with Dean:YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgqRK8GC8jBIFYPmECUCMkwWebsite: https://www.mfileadership.com/The Mission Statement E-Newsletter: https://www.mfileadership.com/blog/LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/deannewlund/X (Twitter): https://twitter.com/deannewlundFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/MissionFacilitators/Email: dean.newlund@mfileadership.comPhone: 1-800-926-7370 Show notes by Podcastologist: Hanz Jimuel AlvarezAudio production by Turnkey Podcast Productions. Dean Newlund: Why Companies Don’t Learn From Failure.

Dean Newlund is the founder and CEO of Mission Facilitators International, a boutique training and development firm based out of Phoenix, Arizona, with the sole purpose of helping organizations become more connected to their purpose and their people.Today, Mission Facilitators is a respected company, having worked with scores of Fortune 500 companies, nonprofits, educational institutions, and family-owned companies nationally and in 19 countries. Grounded in age-old wisdom, modern-day learning models, neuroscience, business acumen, and organizational development, their approach has helped companies increase sales, and engagement, create high-performing teams, and cultivate leaders. He has trained and facilitated teams in China, the UK, South America, the Middle East, India, Eastern Europe, and Indonesia. For years he had a weekly column on leadership at the Arizona Republic Newspaper. He’s authored dozens of articles and white papers and has presented on the TEDx stage in Bend, Oregon, in 2019. And he also has a popular podcast called The Business of Intuition.Dean is grounded in these beliefs: that when we understand our purpose, acknowledge our truth, honor our intuition and forge real connections with others, we all have the power to transform our lives and the workplace. As each person cultivates new mindsets and new skills, the fabric of our society is gradually repaired. In this episode, Dean Newlund discussed the three challenges in:Creating a roadmap Focusing on the purposeEffective communication  Key Takeaways:We miss opportunities and risks by developing only part of the business instead of seeing it as an interdependent whole. Employees don’t see how they add value to the organization. Lastly, we tend to address the symptom and not the root cause. We need a roadmap that aligns the individual to the team, from the team to the end-user, to the customer. If we have that spine, that connectivity, we now know that our work is valued by others and we see the benefit of our efforts to something greater than ourselves. We also can start to uncover where the symptoms are and find the root source. We need to focus on the individual, team, organizational purpose, and service. We need to be doing quality metrics, and cutting costs, we need to also keep closely connected to the reason why we’re here in the first place. What is our purpose? What is the product of our product? Why are we doing what we’re doing? We need to be able to say what we know in a way that we can hear it and we need an upstream tool that can help us answer fundamental questions that are vital for all the major aspects of the employee, leadership, team, and organizational development.Find Dean’s diagram for organizational value alignment here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1srP1Pm5BiKklHRfYwNctpUcVRenA0D4Y/edit?usp=sharing&ouid=116511858661867461136&rtpof=true&sd=true "We have a huge opportunity to be able to find a way to engage people in meaningful work that satisfies this need for connection and that they’re doing something bigger than themself." — Dean Newlund   See Dean’s TedTalk “Why Business Needs Intuition” here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EEq9IYvgV7IConnect with Dean:YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgqRK8GC8jBIFYPmECUCMkwWebsite: https://www.mfileadership.com/The Mission Statement E-Newsletter: https://www.mfileadership.com/blog/LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/deannewlund/Twitter: https://twitter.com/deannewlundFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/MissionFacilitators/Email: dean.newlund@mfileadership.comPhone: 1-800-926-7370 See Dean’s TedTalk “Why Business Needs Intuition” here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EEq9IYvgV7I Connect with Dean:YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgqRK8GC8jBIFYPmECUCMkwWebsite: https://www.mfileadership.com/The Mission Statement E-Newsletter: https://www.mfileadership.com/blog/LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/deannewlund/X (Twitter): https://twitter.com/deannewlundFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/MissionFacilitators/Email: dean.newlund@mfileadership.comPhone: 1-800-926-7370 Show notes by Podcastologist: Hanz Jimuel AlvarezAudio production by Turnkey Podcast Productions. For the first time ever, he wants to share his lessons on podcasts. In this episode, Dean Newlund and Andrew Bartlow discuss:The age of opportunity for Human ResourcesHiring people in the current environment Shifting your mindset The roles of an HR professional Key Takeaways:This is an age of opportunity. Business leaders are demanding an answer from human resources, and this is HR’s opportunity to figure it out and create and deploy workable solutions for the organization. Start with the basics, and have a plan. Determine why somebody would want to work for you and why somebody who already does would want to stay, then, tell that story. Expand your pool as much as you can. The way that HR approaches the work will largely drive how they are perceived by the executive team. How they see themselves affects how the organization will see them. It changes the role when the mindset shifts and the HR aspires to be an executive. The HR can be more than just the organization’s mascot, they can be the person who lets the CEO know how they are received or are affecting the company or an internal management consultant that gives sound advice and provides solutions to organizational challenges.   "Figure out why you’re differentiated - why would somebody come work for you, why would somebody stay. And then tell the story. That’s powerful. Then, you can start fishing - if you have a clear, logical, story to tell." — Andrew Bartlow   See Dean’s TedTalk “Why Business Needs Intuition” here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EEq9IYvgV7I Check out Andrew Bartlow’s book, “Scaling For Success” by clicking on this link: https://www.scalingforsuccessbook.com/Connect with Andrew Bartlow:  Website: https://www.seriesbconsulting.com/ | https://www.peopleleaderaccelerator.com/LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/bartlow/  Connect with Dean:YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgqRK8GC8jBIFYPmECUCMkwWebsite: https://www.mfileadership.com/The Mission Statement E-Newsletter: https://www.mfileadership.com/blog/LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/deannewlund/Twitter: https://twitter.com/deannewlundFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/MissionFacilitators/Email: dean.newlund@mfileadership.comPhone: 1-800-926-7370 See Dean’s TedTalk “Why Business Needs Intuition” here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EEq9IYvgV7I Connect with Dean:YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgqRK8GC8jBIFYPmECUCMkwWebsite: https://www.mfileadership.com/The Mission Statement E-Newsletter: https://www.mfileadership.com/blog/LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/deannewlund/X (Twitter): https://twitter.com/deannewlundFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/MissionFacilitators/Email: dean.newlund@mfileadership.comPhone: 1-800-926-7370 Show notes by Podcastologist: Hanz Jimuel AlvarezAudio production by Turnkey Podcast Productions. She does this by creating cutting-edge operations and preparing for any upcoming crisis so that organizations can stand apart from the competition in the behavioral healthcare space. In this episode, Dean Newlund and Dr. Nilda Perez discuss:Focusing on what you can controlInnovation and creativity Taking care of the caretakers Creating a better system  Key Takeaways:People who focused on the circle that they could control, rather than those that they can’t, tended to do better than most in the pandemic. Innovation and creativity are good tools to combat fear and anxiety. We need to take care of the caretakers. By giving them extra time to heal and rest, we can reduce the amount of burnout that caretakers are experiencing. Creativity makes the world more interesting and colorful. Innovation and creativity are the way towards progress, it is through these tools that we can create better systems.   "It was the person that was more productive and channeled, was able to make the change, was able to deal with the shift - those were the ones that fared better. The more time they spent creating, the better their mental health." — Dr. Nilda Perez See Dean’s TedTalk “Why Business Needs Intuition” here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EEq9IYvgV7IConnect with Dr. Nilda Perez:  Website: https://www.drnildaperez.com/Email: nilda@drnildaperez.comTwitter: https://twitter.com/msnildaInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/drnildaperez/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/drnildaperezfanpageLinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/nildaperez/YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/user/DrNildaPerezTV  Connect with Dean:YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgqRK8GC8jBIFYPmECUCMkwWebsite: https://www.mfileadership.com/The Mission Statement E-Newsletter: https://www.mfileadership.com/blog/LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/deannewlund/Twitter: https://twitter.com/deannewlundFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/MissionFacilitators/Email: dean.newlund@mfileadership.comPhone: 1-800-926-7370  See Dean’s TedTalk “Why Business Needs Intuition” here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EEq9IYvgV7I Connect with Dean:YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgqRK8GC8jBIFYPmECUCMkwWebsite: https://www.mfileadership.com/The Mission Statement E-Newsletter: https://www.mfileadership.com/blog/LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/deannewlund/X (Twitter): https://twitter.com/deannewlundFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/MissionFacilitators/Email: dean.newlund@mfileadership.comPhone: 1-800-926-7370 Show notes by Podcastologist: Hanz Jimuel AlvarezAudio production by Turnkey Podcast Productions.
