Sam Long - The Ironman 70.3 World Champs Penalty Drama + All Things Triathlon & Training
Sam Long joined me for his first podcast since the Ironman 70.3 World Champs penalty drama that took over the sport of triathlon last week. Sam said to me before the episode “any question you ask me, I will answer it honestly.” And so I asked all the hard questions that we wanted to hear the answers to and Sam literally left nothing out. This is one of the most real, honest, inside access chats I’ve ever had on the podcast. We go deep on the 70.3 World Champs penalty and then the Sam Laidlow drama, watching him at Kona, their relationship, their rivalry - all of it. We then talk training with the Norwegians, Lionel Sanders, is there doping in triathlon and Sam gives some shocking drug testing insight. We go over his training in the lead up to 70.3 worlds, his swimming, will he race Ironman branded races next year, his insane long runs and what changes the sport of triathlon needs to make. And there’s seriously way more. This episode is insane.

Emma Pallant-Browne - 3rd Place at the Ironman 70.3 World Championships
3rd place finisher at the Ironman 70.3 World Champs Emma Pallant-Browne joins us to chat all things training in the lead up to the World Champs. We recorded this episode in the lead up to the race and I saved it because I had this gut feeling she would podium in the race and it would be so good to post the day after the race. As fate would have it, that happened!! It was a gamble because I wouldn’t have had an episode if Emma DNF’d. Emma combined a strong swim & bike with her world class run to move through the field, onto the podium and put together one of the best performances of her career. She is also close to the most likeable person in triathlon, so if you listen and don’t love her, I don’t get you! But seriously, Emma finishing on the podium at the World Champs is one of the biggest feel good stories in triathlon this year.

Max Neumann - 4th Place at the Ironman World Championships
Max Meumann shocked the world by coming 4th at the Ironman World Championships and being the only guy who could compete toe to toe with the Norwegians on the bike and run. He gives the best race recap from Kona I’ve ever heard, talks about Kristian Blummenfelt’s aggressive and ruthless racing on the day, his “crazy” training, how he heat prepped for the race, his poor treatment by Ironman Oceania this year and lots, lots more in this 2 hour special edition.

Taylor Knibb (Ep 63)
The Ironman World Championships were yesterday and over the next week we will be recording episodes with the winners and big players. But today, in the meantime, we look ahead to the next big race - the Ironman 70.3 World Champs that take place in 3 weeks time. And Taylor Knibb is the favourite to win that race. She has a world class swim, the best 70.3 bike in the sport and is a solid runner. She’s the athlete you have to get through if you’re any chance. We go through all her training in the build up and find out what training she’s done to become the big favourite for the race.

Joe Skipper (Ep 62)
The last day of our five episodes in five days to celebrate the Ironman World Champs with one of my all time favourite people in triathlon, the junkyard dog himself Joe Skipper. So many people are predicting Joe to have a massive race in Kona this weekend. He's in career best form, has the bike/run on his day to beat just about everyone in the world and in this episode he takes us right through the training he's been doing to get in what he hopes is World Championship winning shape. We also have all the usual fun chat that comes with talking to Joe!! Thanks everyone for tuning in this week, I hope you've enjoyed all the episodes and it's made you more excited/ready for the Ironman World Champs hearing about the training blocks the athlete and coaches have done in the lead up. If you haven't listened to them all, then hopefully you've got some long rides, runs or car trips over the weekend to listen to them to help motivate you and make the time fly by!
