# 242: It's Time To Step Up And Get Noticed In Your Career

In this episode:In today’s episode of the Career Change Maker podcast, I’m talking about stepping up and getting noticed in your career.  I’ve been listening to my clients and reflecting on what holds people back from moving towards career advancement.  The answer is reluctance around visibility and showing up; if you are not getting noticed by the right people you cannot achieve your goals. Particularly in a hybrid working environment, do not assume that the right people simply know who you are and how hard you work. It’s time to share your brilliance with the world and get noticed.Summary:What you will learn in this episode:Hard work alone isn’t enough to open doors - you need to reach the right people in the right places to be heard and ultimately move forward on your chosen career path. How to develop partnerships internally - creating opportunities for collaboration, mentoring and to connect with others in your organisation. How to leverage the power of visibility through your chosen platform by sharing your perspective - realise that your voice is unique.  Sharing your perspective can be the difference between someone being able to move forward or simply staying still.Episode Notes:As an award-winning certified executive and career coach, TEDx speaker, podcast host and former lawyer, I have seen way too many female professionals under selling themselves and settling for less in their careers. I am committed to equipping high achieving women with the tools and support to create careers that are both meaningful and impactful.Resources:Join our exclusive weekly email series for career tips and strategies here.If you are looking for support with finding career clarity so you can relaunch your career with confidence, join the Career Clarity Accelerator.Support the showSend us a text

# 241: Moving Past Negative Work Experiences

In this episode:In today’s episode of the Career Change Maker podcast, I’m talking about moving past negative work experiences. In my work as a career coach, my clients share with me their end goal and where they ideally want to be, but there are often roadblocks and resistance in getting there. This feeling of resistance often stems from negative past work experiences which leave a lasting impact on your confidence. In this episode, we look at how holding on to past experience can affect the way you move forward in three main ways. I’ll talk you through an example of how to look at your past and ask yourself what you can learn from that experience. You cannot change the past, but you can learn from it and determine your own future.Summary:What you will learn in this episode:How to ‘show up’ in the way you want - how to have expectations which are not set based on previous experience, but simply from an understanding of it - this will allow you to prevent it from happening again. How to take ownership of your career development - stop being passive and shape the reality of your goal. How to focus on what you want to get out of your role and what impact you want to create. The importance of addressing and dealing with past experiences - learning lessons that need to be processed so you can move on.  Assess, digest, reflect, take ownership, and move forward.Episode Notes:As an award-winning certified executive and career coach, TEDx speaker, podcast host and former lawyer, I have seen way too many female professionals under selling themselves and settling for less in their careers. # 235 : Career Change Doesn't Have To Be Risky

So many people have the desire to make a career change. However, for some it feels to risky to pursue: It feels risky because people are averse to taking a pay cut and career change is often associated with making a move that will require you to start from the bottomIt feels risky because you don't know whether you have what it takes to show and do a different kind of job. It feels risky because you're leaving an environment that you are familiar with to venture into the unknown. In today's episode I want to dig into why and how you can mitigate the risks related to changing career. Avoid Taking A Paycut - Moving roles or switching industries does not necessarily need to lead to a pay cut.  In fact for many making that move is the thing that leads to a 5-figure salary increase. It all comes down to positioning and how well you are able to position your expertise and the value that you are able to bring to the organisation. Having The Right Skillset - Whilst you may not know everything you need to know in terms of executing in a new role, you do have the ability to figure it out. Think about someone who gets promoted to the C-Suite. When they get promoted to that position for the first time, they have never done it before. They are not getting promoted because of ther abilitity to do that senior role. They are getting promoted because of their demonstrated potential. When you look back at what you've achieved in your career, you can demonstrate potential. Feel Comfortable In A New Environment - You can outgrow your current environment and if you feel an inclination to move on, follow your intuition. You were new in this role at some point and you figured it out. You showed up repeatedly until that newness disappeared and this felt like home. If you choose to stay where you are, the real risk is that you'll stagnate and miss the opportunity to reach those impact goals that you have. Career change doesn't have do be risky. Take a strategic approach so that you are able to minimise the perceived risk and make the transitioning into a meaningful and impactful role, and secure a salary increase in the process. We are opening enrolment for The Career Change Maker Program on January 14th! This cohort is going be like none other with some of the adjustments and refinements we are making to the curriculum. Get yourself on the waitlist as there will be an exclusive bonus for waitlisters. I am looking forward to helping more female proessionals take ownership of their careers, find more meaning and get paid better. I hope one of those people is you.
