480. Biggest Mistakes with Hot flashes
So you have hot flashes? Hot flashes often occur in perimenopause & menopause, but there are other hormonal shifts that can produce them as well. Your body detects a change and release the mechanism to feel hot and start sweating. This temperature regulation issue means that your body is struggling to process hormones, mainly the liver & digestive system. Many women even have night sweats/hot flashes before their period starts! Although hot flashes are not necessarily bad, they are uncomfortable and signal that there is work to be done in the body. In this episode, I dive deeper into hot flashes, common mistakes when treating them and how to get those hormones on the right track! 479. Why Am I So Tired?
I get asked ALL the time, "Why am I so tired?" Many doctors will just look at someone and tell them to "just lose 20 lb and you won't be so tired" when really there is much more to the picture. Something to consider with fatigue - are you able to feel better after more sleep? If not, there is definitely a deeper issue and it has NOTHING to do with laziness. Many times it's an adrenal/cortisol issue, so I wanted to spend some time on what this looks like. The goal of this episode is to open the conversation around fatigue, exhaustion and adrenal issues that so many of us face. 478. Is Your Brain Overwhelmed?
Let's talk about overwhelm and how to overcome this at home and especially around the holidays. I have tried many tactics and tools to stay productive and keep everything organized and honestly, it's not always a matter of having a new or better list - it's a matter of brain space and capacity. In this episode, I dive into what this brain overwhelm looks like and what we can do to navigate it! 477. Where Do Toxins Come From?
Where do toxins actually come from? There might be more places than you think! We usually think about our environment when it comes to toxins, like products, shampoos, cleaners, etc. This is absolutely true, however toxins can come from cellular waste and bacteria in your gut! Internal and external toxins factor into female health. Although our bodies are designed to filter through these toxins and flushing things out, sometimes we need some assistance if things get bogged down. In this episode, I dive into what this toxic load looks like and how to support your body while flushing the toxins out. 476. Gut Health, Genetics & Hormones
When it comes to a holistic approach to health, we need to look at many different processes in the body. Health history and genetics also play heavily into what it takes to turn someone's health around. This is why I love testing! When I work with someone one on one, we actually test all of these things - gut markers, genetic markers and hormone levels! Many women come to me thinking they don't have enough "motivation" or "willpower", when really their adrenals are completely burnt out, for example. In this episode, I go into more detail on why testing is important and what it means for your health. 475. Don't Struggle Alone
Most women find themselves struggling with their health at some point and it can be so isolating to navigate it alone. That being said, not everyone is comfortable in a group setting and sometimes the health issues need more one on one attention. It can be tempting to work on things alone, especially if you find yourself at rock bottom. Support and accountability is a game changer especially for long term consistency! In this episode, I share more about the clients who have found themselves isolated, needing extra support on their health journey and how they turned things around. 472. Nutrients & Neurotransmitters - DUTCH series
For the second episode in my four part DUTCH series, I want to address nutrients and neurotransmitters. It is so important to look at the wide range of hormones in the female body together, because everything is connected and builds off one another. One of the big questions we want to answer is "how did I get here with my health?" When looking at nutrient levels, there are several things at play when we look at the nutrient levels in your body. This includes eating quality foods and quality sourcing, gut health and more. A big issue with nutrition is whether or not your body is absorbing and utilizing the food that you eat. In this episode, I discuss more about the nutrition markers on DUTCH testing, what this means for you and how to turn things around.
