A specialist in Tic Disorders; Dr Amanda Maxwell help us understand the difference between Tourette’s and Functional Tics, treatment pathways for young people, how medication can help, support for families and more.Dr Amanda Maxwell is a Clinical Psychologist who has worked with children and families for 20 years. She has worked in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) in Australia, the UK and Hong Kong. She worked in a specialist Tic and Neurodevelopmental Movements (TANDeM) Service at the Evelina Children’s Hospital, London before moving to Australia in 2018. Amanda has a special interest in working with young people with Tourette syndrome and other movement disorders. She also works with Functional Neurological Disorders, with an interest in Functional Tic Like Behaviours (FTLBs). She is piloting interventions for Chronic Tic Disorders and FTLBs at the University of New South Wales (UNSW).
