99. Why You're Probably Still People Pleasing

People pleasing, or authenticity suppression as we like to call it, is a natural adaptive mechanism humans have used for centuries to attain approval, acceptance, and ultimately, safety. While in conscious, small doses this social mirroring can help us feel connected and related to others, it can also begin to erase our sense of self and our confidence if used too much.People pleasing is not just constantly saying 'yes' or overextending yourself...it also exists in more subtle, hidden ways that are often internalized. Perhaps it's the way you lie about your favorite music to seem more agreeable or refuse to pick a place to eat in the feared event that someone else disagrees with you. It's not always in your behaviors but often found in your unclaimed truths. In this episode, we talk about the ways you might still be people pleasing without even realizing it. By listening to this conversation, you will become aware of the sneaky ways your unconscious might still be placing others' approval before your own self respect and values.--Join us in June 2025 for the annual Spiraling Higher Retreat.https://shorturl.at/Yyln9Join our FREE community: (We host free calls every month!):https://tinyurl.com/SpiralinghighercommunityWE FINALLY MADE MERCH! 97. Throwback Episode - Danielle LaPorte: "The Ego Is Not The Enemy"

We are throwing it back to the incredible in-person conversation we had with Danielle LaPorte, where we explored a question so many of us face on our healing journey: When is enough, enough? It’s easy to get caught in the cycle of endless self-improvement, feeling like there’s always more to fix, heal, or grow upon. But what if the things that are meant to help us are actually keeping us stuck? Danielle shares her experience of filling her schedule with astrology readings, therapy sessions, and shamanic healings, only to realize that more work wasn’t the answer. The answer was love. She realized that we often chase healing like it’s a finish line, believing that if we just do enough inner work, we’ll finally feel whole. But what if true healing isn’t about more effort, but about surrender? In this episode, Danielle invites us to shift from self-improvement to self-acceptance, offering a perspective that is both radical and freeing.A member of Oprah’s SuperSoul 100 and the author of How to Be Loving, Danielle’s wisdom is both grounded and transformative. If you’ve ever felt exhausted from “doing the work,” this conversation will be a breath of fresh air.Episode Highlights:-The real purpose of the ego and why we shouldn’t try to kill it-Why Danielle stopped going to therapy-How to tell if you're acting from your wounded self vs. healed self-The shift from reacting to the mind to living from the heartTHE WAIT IS OVER! 94. Self-Awareness Doesn't Have To Be Serious

We're all about healing and becoming self-aware of your limiting patterns here on the Spiraling Higher podcast...but not ALL self-awareness needs to be so serious or in service to fixing parts of yourself that you deem problematic. Self-awareness also includes knowing and appreciating all of the AMAZING, fun, delightful parts of yourself too! It's easy to forget how many incredibly awesome things there are to know and love about ourselves when we are constantly being bombarded with ways to "fix" or improve ourselves. We wanted this episode to be a reflection of the fact that healing can also be light by taking the opportunity to share the beautiful things we love about each other. Our loved ones can sometimes see us more clearly than we can see our own selves because they see us through the eyes of love, as opposed to our own judgmental eyes. Sometimes all we can see in ourselves is darkness when the truth is that we are far more than our patterns. This fun conversation seeks to remind you that you are bigger than the patterns you've become aware of and that your self-awareness is incomplete if it does not include wonderfully positive things about yourself. We hope you will try the fun exercise we did on yourself or with a loved one! You might be surprised to see what they see in you :)--WE FINALLY MADE MERCH! Find your new Spiraling Higher apparel here:http://xmj6wr-xy.myshopify.com/THE WAIT IS OVER! 92. Julie Menanno: Healing The Anxious-Avoidant Relationship Cycle

Our most highly anticipated guest from last year finally accepted our DM request to come on the pod and de-mystify the most common (and stressful) relational dynamic: ANXIOUS + AVOIDANT.Watch this episode on YouTube:https://youtu.be/CRxBxInFDfUIf you have ever been in a relationship, or supported someone in one, then you KNOW how distressing it is to deal with feeling like your partner doesn't care about your feelings OR as if their feelings are TOO MUCH. Unfortunately, these two types of people often attract each other...and without proper awareness or the development of regulation skills, these two people will harm each other over and over until there is no longer a sense of closeness or intimacy anymore. What's sad about this dynamic is that both people DO care, and ultimately desire closeness, but what actions make each of them feel emotionally safe in the relationship are different. Learning the difference between these needs, their origins, and how to appreciate them without self-abandoning is the key to creating a healthier dynamic that can repair fully after typical ruptures, which even secure attached couples experience!Whether you're familiar with attachment theory already or not, this conversation reveals the secret ingredient for creating secure attachment and is going to help you identify which attachment style you may have AND how to heal it instead of projecting your needs and insecurities onto your partner. No matter if you identify as anxious, avoidant, disorganized...there are tools for you to become a safer, secure person for yourself AND as a partner in a relationship.Join our FREE community: (We host free calls every month!):https://tinyurl.com/SpiralinghighercommunityJoin our retreat waitlist for JUNE 2025 by signing up here:https://shorturl.at/fojjy--Find Julie:https://www.instagram.com/thesecurerelationship/Get her best-selling book "Secure Love" here:https://amzn.to/4jtlhPK--WE FINALLY MADE MERCH!
