Death Guilt
Recently it was the anniversary of my first husband, Jeo's death and I received some messages on Instagram from people that got me thinking about this idea of feeling "sad" when someone has passed away. Today on the podcast, Hamish and I chat about how we celebrate Jeo and why we don't like this "death guilt" mentality. Why is it that for the one day a year that we truly acknowledge someone's death there's this expectation that we need to be sad? This idea that we need to sit in suffering and mourn. We as a society really have not come to terms with death, yet we all end up passing on. That's a fact and it's unavoidable. Why do we feel the need to feel sad about someone passing on, instead of focusing on how they lived, what joy they brought to our lives and the impact that they had on those around them? So we want to remind you that you are allowed to not be sad on the anniversary of someone's death. The last thing that they would want is for you to be sit in suffering because you feel like you "have to" or that you "should". Create your own rituals around remembering them, acknowledge their existence and feel however you want to feel about it. COVID: How To Speak Your Truth
I've been getting messages lately from people who are concerned that they've been copping flack for expressing their opinions on social media. Whatever the topic is, it doesn't matter but certainly right now in the time of COVID it's really being highlighted how different our views can be. My love, I need you to understand that's okay. We're not all supposed to agree. We've all come to our own conclusions in our own unique way.Remember that your social media is your place and you are entitled to share what you want on your own page. I'm not saying you should go and be a jerk. Be nice. Be kind. Just understand that not everyone is going to agree with you and that's normal. Don't hide yourself away because you feel like you'll lose followers. Girl, if you lose followers that's a GOOD thing. The people that connect with you will stay and you'll be creating a safer space for each other. Don't troll y'all. Don't waste your time arguing with people you don't know on social media. Just block, delete and move on. It's not worth it.WAYS TO WORK WITH ME:Join my online coaching program for women - the Sistahood Learn how to Conquer Social Media through my new Confidently Conquering Social Media Course๐ Want to request a podcast? Why you canโt binge on personal development. Q&A Tuesday
Can you consume too much personal development information? The answer is basically no, but it's more involved than that. The issue is whether you take ACTION on what you're consuming. If you're not taking action on what you're consuming, you're not really doing anything. You're just taking in a bunch of info that you don't do anything with. That's what I'm breaking down today. As I mentioned in the episode, try to focus on one area of your life that's really messing with you right now and take ACTION to improve in that area. You can't address everything all at once, but if you break it down into smaller parts, you're more likely to get the results you're looking for.If you would like to leave me a voicemail and have a chance to be featured on The Confidence Chronicles Podcast, head to the podcast page of my website and go right ahead! Biz Series โ Is it time to sack your mentor?
As you may know, my husband and I used to be in a cult. The guy who ran it was a business coach and we were in his program for two years. It was full on and as much as we learned a lot and it was incredible in hindsight, the values of this man and the narcissistic behaviour were huge red flags that we didn't see at the time. We were allowing his values to take over us and when we finally got it, we realised how far out of alignment we were with this guy.So I'm talking directly to my business ladies out there today. Maybe you already have a coach, maybe you're looking for one, but the question I need you to ask yourself is, "Do they align with who I am, or who I am aspiring to be." If the answer is, "no" then you've got to get the hell out of there.Visit my website for all the ways you can work with me online right now UPCOMING VIRTUAL EVENT:Power Couples Masterclass with Erika & Hamish - May 16th, 2020Join my online coaching program for women - the Sistahood๐ Want to request a podcast? My motherโs perspective: reuniting with my dad
Y'all it's almost Mother's Day, and I wanted to share with you a really special conversation that I had with my mum at the end of last year. This was just after my father had flown back to Peurto Rico after being in Australia with us for Christmas. I had not seen him in 20 years and I flew him out for the first time ever. My mum had not seen him in 25 years. It was a big fucking deal and there were a lot of emotions. So I wanted to talk to my mum about how she felt about reuniting with him after so many years, and how her thoughts about him may have changed. I hope you enjoy!Go back and listen to my previous episode: Reuniting with my dad after 20 years to get the full picture.Visit my website for all the ways you can work with me online right now UPCOMING VIRTUAL EVENT:Power Couples Masterclass with Erika & Hamish - May 16th, 2020Join my online coaching program for women - the Sistahood๐ Want to request a podcast? Sex and Body Image โ Q&A Tuesday
I received a great question via my website for our Q&A today ladies! The question was this: How to not let your own insecurities about your body interfere with your sex life with your partner when they have a better physique than you do. How do you not let your feelings of low self-esteem or low self-worth cock-block you from having the intimate relationship that you want to have?I did a podcast on this topic a little while ago "Why You Need To Love Your Body TODAY" so first of all, go and listen to that episode after this one. When we don't feel comfortable in our own bodies, we lack confidence in our own body, you better believe we show up in the world like that. We wear the baggy clothes, we hide ourselves away and we don't own the body that we currently have. We don't talk to our partners about it either. We just assume that they don't want to have sex with us, they don't want to be intimate with us, but where is that coming from? That's your own dialogue my love. Accepting what is, that's hard as fuck I know. I've been there. It's a journey and it takes time, but I hope this Q&A helps you think about your body and your sex life differently.Visit my website for all the ways you can work with me online right now UPCOMING VIRTUAL EVENT:Power Couples Masterclass with Erika & Hamish - May 16th, 2020Join my online coaching program for women - the Sistahood๐ Want to request a podcast? Rape and Restorative Justice with Marlee Liss
My friends, I am extremely excited to present my guest for today, Marlee Liss. This has been one of my most favourite episodes I've done as an interview so far. I cried many times and I feel the message that Marlee has to share is such an important one. Marlee has an absolutely extraordinary story. She was sexually assaulted when she was 21 years old and the court proceedings that followed actually concluded in restorative justice. Basically this is where the focus is on repair rather than punishment and it is not something you hear about very often. In fact, Marlee's case was the first in North America to resolve in restorative justice. I found this conversation to be truly inspiring and resonated with me on so many levels.Marlee now helps women claim sacred sensuality so they can live in self-love and inner wholeness. As a womenโs embodied love coach, author and retreat facilitator, she has worked internationally to inspire transformative healing. Marleeโs work is deeply shaped by her background in social work, trauma-informed yoga, somatic sex education, and body image facilitation. How to stay present in uncertainty โ Q&A Tuesday
During this weird ass time I've been getting a lot of questions from y'all about how to stop yourself from feeling all the anxious thoughts due to all the uncertainty. The answer is fairly simple, don't go future. All you need to do right now is to stay here and acknowledge that in this moment, you have everything you need. Look at how many of your thoughts are in a future that hasn't come yet. Use this time to exercise presence. What are you thinking? Who are you listening to? What are you paying attention to? Who are you following on social media?Take a break my love and go do something, watch something or listen to something that makes you laugh. Don't go future. There is no future. There is only now.Books that I mentioned:Echkart Tolle - The Power Of NowThe Practice Of The Power Of Now for the more "cliff notes" versionVisit my website for all the ways you can work with me online right now UPCOMING VIRTUAL EVENT:Power Couples Masterclass with Erika & Hamish - May 16th, 2020Join my online coaching program for women - the Sistahood๐ Want to request a podcast? Permission to break down
My love, you don't need to hold everything together all the time. You're telling yourself that you need to hold it together for your partner, your kids, your work, your health but there's nothing healthy about "holding it together". You need to let some of the pressure out or you're going to explode like a fucking shaken up champagne bottle. If you don't relieve the pressure on a regular basis, shit's going to get real. But there's a big caveat to this ladies - this permission to break down is only for the ladies that have been working on themselves, that have healed a lot of their shit, that are managing their mind and have the proper tools in their toolkit. If you've got the tools, when you break down you'll be able to work through them, feel those feelings and move through them. If you haven't been working on your shit, then "breaking down" is just another excuse to not do anything.Visit my website for all the ways you can work with me online right now UPCOMING VIRTUAL EVENT:Power Couples Masterclass with Erika & Hamish - May 16th, 2020Join my online coaching program for women - the Sistahood๐ Want to request a podcast?
