Ep 128 - Garry Belinfante: Creativity and Positivity throughout cancer
For so many of us, our lives have been touched by cancer in some shape or form.
For me personally, I've had grandparents go through it - as well as my father, Garry Belinfante.
Dad was my inspiration behind my recent experiences with the Stars of Western Sydney fundraising dance performance. And you can check out the show notes for a link to our very entertaining dance together when I hit the $3000 fundraising milestone!
Anyway, I've really admired how positive Dad has remained over the past 5 years - and that he's reconnected with his love of painting.
It's something that was ironically lost during his many years as a visual arts teacher!
So today I'm bringing my Dad onto the show to wrap up this month's theme of 'Empowering Stories'.
While we don't delve into Dad's cancer journey during the interview, I've also included a link in the show notes to the video of him recently sharing his story.
So yes, there's lots to check out in the show notes today!
But for now, let's dance our way into the episode.

Ep 127: Zoe Simmons - Managing a chronic illness while growing a business
When I have even the slightest of headaches - or feel even just that little bit tired - I struggle to get my work done.
So I really feel for people like Zoe Simmons - who is growing a memorable career as a freelance journalist, copywriter, and disability advocate while dealing with chronic pain on a daily basis.
However, Zoe doesn't ask for sympathy.
As I admitted during our interview, I feel massive imposter syndrome when reading out her bio.
Because she has achieved such amazing things - at such a young age - despite her ailments.
And she's now on a mission to educate the world about society's gaps when it comes to managing a disability on a daily basis.
I absolutely loved our chat in today's episode and I'm sure you will too.
Let's wheel ourselves in!

EP 126 - Claire Besley: How to heal yourself
I'm doing things a little bit differently today.
For today's episode, you'll hear my interview with Claire Besley from Self-Directed Healing on the topic 'How to heal yourself'.
During our conversation, which I recorded about a month ago, I became so fascinated by the whole concept of self-directed healing that I was keen to book a session myself.
And then record a follow-up episode with my experiences.
But after the session, I decided to talk about my experiences in this episode's intro instead - and read out what I journalled.
I literally recorded the intro 30 mins after the session, meaning I was nice and raw for the recording.
So it meant showing my true vulnerability.
I hope you enjoy this episode and consider doing this type of therapy if you've been bottling up your emotions - like I've been doing my whole life!

Ep 125 - Derek Rogers: Moving through burnout
I'm going to be honest here.
I've recently experienced a period of burn out.
And if I'm even more honest with myself, I still fall into stages of burn out here and there.
But I'm determined to work my way through it.
Today, I'm chatting with Derek Rogers from Thrive Movement Australia who totally gets what I've been experiencing.
Because he's been there himself. And he's determined to build a thriving network to provide others the support they need to get through this thing called life.
In this episode, we both share our vulnerabilities as Derek shares his experiences, passions, and why.
If you've been feeling a little lost lately, or know someone who has, I'm sure you'll relate to this episode.
Let's get the ball rolling!

Ep 124 - Nick Bendel: 500 Lunches
When it comes to meeting new people - AKA strangers - like at a networking event or party, how does it make you feel?
Excited and ready to embrace the experience?
Or nervous and ready to hide away in a hole?
Today, I'm chatting with fellow copywriter, Nick Bendel, from Hunter and Scribe, who has set himself an interesting challenge.
He's aiming to have lunch with 500 strangers in 5 years.
And a week after we recorded the interview, I proudly became the 226th person to have lunch with Nick.
So, what did we chat about? A bit of everything, really. And I loved hearing more about the people he has met so far.
I'll include a link to his LinkedIn post in the show notes.
I think it's such a fun concept - and I'm sure you're going to love this episode. It's a perfect topic to kick off May's theme of the Marketing & Me podcast, which is 'Empowering Stories'.
Let's jump in!

Ep 123 - Debbie Hatumale-Uy: Build a community first, and the sales will come
When it comes to social media and business, we often get caught up in the multiple ways we can possibly push our products and services out there.
But what if you took a step back - and focused on building a strong online community first?
And build up a strong following who are keen to hear what you have to say?
I talk about building the know, like, and trust factor a lot on this podcast.
But the truth is - I talk about it because it actually works.
Today's guest is Debbie Hatumale-Uy, who is a living, breathing example of someone who "accidentally' found success by simply being herself online.
In this episode, she shares a few tips and gives us a look behind the scenes to see how the development of an online community has helped her and her crafting business 'Only The Sweet Stuff'.
Let's dive into the episode!

Ep 122 - Leanne Shelton: Do flyer mail outs and printed ads still work?
Have you ever considered printing out flyers to promote your business?
Or have you been putting ads in the paper for months or even years?
But do you know if these methods are actually increasing engagement with your business - in a world heavily dominated by the digital space?
Well, today I'm going through some statistics with you and discussing whether or not flyers and printed ads would be useful for you in this day and age.
But first of all, I want to give a big shout out to my work experience student, Grace, for her amazing efforts to put all this data - and a large portion of this episode - together.
Thanks Grace! As I said, you're welcome to come back and work for me anytime.
Okay, without further ado - let's jump into the episode!

Ep 121 - Petru Iacob: Making digital ads work better
If you've dabbled in social media advertising - and had no idea what you're doing - you may have found yourself completely overwhelmed with the best targetting strategies to ensure the best results.
For example, Facebook asks you for 25 keywords.
But which keywords do you choose?
Where do you even start?
Today, I'm chatting with Petru Iacob - who established the platform Audiencer.io to help you through this exact issue.
They compile data that offers you a full list of audience interests - allowing you to hand select the best options for your marketing campaign.
To accompany this episode, Petru has kindly offered to provide a demo in the Marketing and Me Community Facebook group. Check out the show notes at marketingandme.com.au for a link.

Ep 119 - Lynette Sykes: Cupping massage therapy for pain relief, cellulite removal, and facials
In most cases, we only seek out massages when we're in some sort of pain OR looking for a way to relax.
We don't usually expect the treatment to provide both pain and stress relief.
Well, Bellabacci Cupping Massage CAN do both - in addition to treating cellulite, wrinkles, and adult acne.
In today's episode of Marketing and Me, I'm chatting with Lynette Sykes from Aromae Massage who does amazing cupping massages via aromatherapy oils.
I've personally had a body massage with Lynette in the past - and following our interview I quickly booked an appointment for a cupping facial.
If you're unfamiliar with this form of massage, get ready for a full overview. Let's get started!
