In this episode, my colleague, Feather Windwalker, asks me about the use of The Havening Techniques® in my coaching practice.  What is Havening anyway? Why bother? Why did I feel a need to add it to my NLP and Hypnosis practice 10 years ago? She also asked me about whether Havening, like Sleight of Mouth, NLP, and Neo-Ericksonian Hypnosis, can be considered an Essential Coaching Skill. To learn more about being trained in The Havening Techniques®, go to www.Ericksonian.com/Training Meet Feather Sunday 23 March in Warwick RI RI Holistic Healing Association EXPODIY Workshop Experience: Havening for Emotional First-Aid and Self-Care LIVE Online NeurosensoryMentalHealth.com FeatherWindWisdom.org

Ep. 174 - What's Your B.S.? - with Peter Blum

Discover why Peter Blum is considered “the hypnotist’s hypnotist!”       Peter Blum, C.I., C.Ht., M.S.C., has had a practice in Ericksonian hypnosis since 1987. He was awarded Instructor of the Year by the Nat’l Guild of Hypnosis in 2004, and in 2009 inducted into the Order of Braid - a lifetime achievement recognition. In 2015 he was recognized as Hypnotist of the Year by IACT (The Int’l Assoc. of Counselors and Therapists), and in 2018 Peter was awarded “Life Fellow in Hypnotherapy” by the International Medical and Dental Hypnosis Association. In 2021, Peter was inducted into the Hypnosis Hall of Fame.      Peter has trained hundreds of healers, health professionals, and counselors, in the spiritual art of hypnosis. During the 90’s he served as Director of Stress Management for the Rhinebeck Health Center, under the supervision of Dr. Kenneth Bock and Dr. Steven Bock. He is currently President of the Board of Directors of Health Care Is A Human Right, a 501c3 dedicated to providing free access to holistic health to local communities.      Since the 80’s he has also been involved in the fields of Indigenous shamanic ceremony, and sound as a vehicle for consciousness and healing. In 2018, he published “TranceSonics - The Vital Link Between Sound Healing and Hypnosis,”, and now, in 2024, “What Is Your B.S.? - Exploring Belief Systems, Hypnosis, and Neurolinguistics.” This collection of essays and case histories covers Blum’s 40 years in the field. If you are curious about the “spiritual art form of hypnosis,” as well as practical applications for personal growth, you will enjoy every page of this highly entertaining compendium. The advance praise for What’s Your B.S.? provides an excellent preview of the book!       Doug O’Brien, NLP and Ericksonian teacher, said, “At first, I just gobbled Peter's book up like a delicious dessert. Then I went back and reread it slowly and deliberately because I wanted to savor every morsel of this delightful and fascinating tale. The book is both a personal memoir of one man's journey to a deep understanding of the human condition through the lens of hypnosis, and an extended teaching tale rich with lessons everyone can learn from.”      Noted author and psychiatrist Dr. Lewis Mehl-Madrona, said: “Peter has written a delightfully playful book that reveals what hypnosis is and how it's done. Don't be fooled—beneath the silliness and the humor are pearls of wisdom worthy of the reader's contemplation and reflection. I particularly liked his stories about how to find enlightenment and about the difference between healing and curing. Peter also provides some excellent transcripts of his work, which will aid practitioner-readers in improving their techniques for eliciting belief systems during hypnosis. He includes helpful exercises such as the values hierarchy, and his play on words has always delighted me.”      Find Peter at www.trancesonics.com and get a signed copy of his book there as well.
