139: The ROI of Health and Fitness with Sam Johnston

This episode starts out full force and doesn’t slow down as Taylor and Sam Johnston, of Alpha Body System, kick off the discussion by talking about the power and need to invest in ourselves, specifically our health. Taylor mentions something profound that Sam dives into with more detail. This is the sense that many of us don’t even know what “good” feels or looks like. This is why investing in our own personal health and fitness is necessary. We see so many on the “after” side of the fitness journey and think that can never happen for us because we are in the “before.” We become complacent with the way things are. But when we start our wellness journey, all of the obstacles we face (like chronic illness) fade away, and feeling good starts to take on new meaning. With Sam’s challenge to us that we should be radically different from others in our lives and to “be the weirdo,” the discussion transitions to the different ways and actions we can take to be able to invest in ourselves with everyone’s favorite word– free. Taylor suggests things we have heard on the podcast before but become so much more meaningful when we think about the different benefits they could provide to us in the future. Things like sun exposure– watch the sunrise, guys. Taylor will even give you bonus points when you watch the sunrise barefoot! Get your body moving and go for a walk. Don’t forget about the power of in-person meetings and connections, even physical touch. The all-important aspect of sleep. Practice your breathing– deep breathing, extend your exhale, maybe even breathing for performance as Taylor talks about as well. Finally, invest in your mindfulness as well with journaling and/or meditation. These are all things that are free, readily available, and can be done immediately. But what if you want to kick it up a notch? Invest in yourself financially, maybe? Both Taylor and Sam agree that the best way to go about this is to hire a coach. Whatever area of life you are trying to improve upon, hiring a coach could be the answer you are looking for. It will save you time which is a return on investment in more than one way.Tune in to learn more!Key Quotes“Your health is your Alpha system. When your health is on point, every… area of your life is better. You make more money. You have more energy. You have more confidence. You bring more value to the people in your life.” –Samuel Johnston“Your physical representation is a direct representation of your inner world.” –Taylor MorganKey Timestamps[6:18] – The episode starts with Sam Johnston talking about investing in yourself– specifically your health;[8:50] – The more you invest, the greater the ROI;[13:20] – Because of their baseline experience, people don’t really know what “good” looks or feels like;[16:10] – The power of “imagine”;[19:30] – Your brain is a vast library, your conscious attention is a floating flashlight;[25:35] – The word ‘organic’ should change to ‘not poison’;[31:25] – Free things to do to invest in yourself– first, direct exposure to the sun;[32:10] – Movement, even if you just go for a walk;[41:57] – More free things– in-person connections, breathing, sleep, journaling, mindfulness and meditation;[1:02:14] – Investing financially? 138: The Evolution of a Fitness Entrepreneur with Joe Vennare

Hey, Captains. If you have ever been intimidated by the idea of starting a business (like many of us), then today’s episode provides some great insight and value. Taylor is talking to Joe Vennare, Founder of Fitt Insider– a community building the platform for the future of fitness and wellness. Today’s episode will take you from Joe’s very relatable childhood to where he is today in the fitness industry.“Did you get enough to eat? Here, have some more.” These were very common statements Joe heard during his childhood that contributed to his cute, chubby Italian kid persona in school, but when the hormones started to kick in during middle school, he noticed that he did not quite fit in with his friends. This realization was enough for Joe to be thankful for finding football and strength training, where his love of fitness was born. Learning as much as he could from his rusted-out school field house equipment, even breaking in outside of school hours to make sure he got his workouts in, Joe started a physical transformation that others around him took notice of – enough notice for them to ask how he was doing it. This was Joe’s first venture into entrepreneurship where he would create workout plans and recommend certain supplements up to the late 2000’s. Remember the height of popularity of Crossfit? Around 2009 is when Joe and his brother opened their own Crossfit gym to a starting membership count of 200 members! Now that Joe had experienced success, this was a moment in the interview where Taylor brings up the idea of recovery– how important is it? Especially in our culture today, everything is fast-paced and we want to feel like we have control over every aspect of our lives, it begs that question. Is recovery truly necessary? But, as Taylor and Joe both point out, if we do not give our bodies enough time to recover from the workouts we put them through, we are actually making ourselves weaker. Recovery is everything. As the conversation wraps up, Joe and Taylor talk about a different range of topics including exercise being the last area of focus when it comes to a more holistic approach to fitness, the idea of getting back in tune with our bodies, and finally the most recent evolution of Joe’s business– Fitt Insider.Tune in to learn more!Key Quotes“Stressors put your body in a compromised position, and if you're not doing the things from a nutrition standpoint, if you’re not doing the things from a sleep standpoint, if you’re not doing the things from a… mindset standpoint– you’re not going to be in a place where you can perform.” –Joe Vennare“You get weaker when you workout. Your muscles are breaking down while you’re working out. And then the sleep is primarily where you recover from that workout, so if people are missing out on sleep and they’re crushing intense workouts– they might be making themselves weaker.” –Taylor MorganKey Timestamps[6:32] – Episode start with Joe Vennare;[7:38] – Did you get enough to eat? 137: Hack Your Brain Waves with WaveNeuro

What’s up, Captains? In this episode, Taylor welcomes special guest Dr. Erik Won, President of Wave Neuroscience, a biotech company pioneering Magnetic Resonance Therapy (MeRT). Overseeing powerful innovations with MeRT technology, Dr. Won gives us more detail on how WaveNeuro actually works– using the power of brain imaging, the technology allows medical professionals to target any part of the brain that is exhibiting areas of disruption and provide treatment for those areas. This shifts the discussion to the different types of brain waves and how vital a good night’s sleep is.Sleep deprivation can wreak havoc on our overall health and wellbeing, but so many of us don’t realize truly how destructive it can be. Dr. Won even suggests a feeling of sleep “machismo” where we pride ourselves on compromising our sleep for more productivity. Does this ring any bells? If you feel you might fall into this category as well, then listen to what Dr. Won has to say. When we are sleep deprived, we do not get to enter the deeper stages of sleep where the body starts to reset, this can lead to a feeling of brain fog that most of us have experienced. But, if this becomes chronic, then scarier stuff like cognitive decline and dementia become topics of note. If we want to accomplish everything we desire, we have to abandon the “I’ll sleep when I’m dead” mentality. So, why so much talk about sleep with WaveNeuro? Dr. Won explains that chronic lack of sleep can cause the abnormalities that MeRT technology is designed to detect. When the therapy is administered, the best sign that the treatment will be effective for Dr. Won is when the patient notes how great they have been sleeping. As the episode finishes, Taylor and Erik continue discussing WaveNeuro and its benefits, who it is designed for, special opportunities for veterans, and Dr. Won’s excitement for the future in this field of study with combined therapies.Tune in to learn more!Key Quotes“Sleep really is critical and fundamental, not just for the current day– feeling restored and vibrant and active– but also long-term in warding off some of the decline that has been associated with aging.” –Dr. Erik Won“Once we’re able to shift out of high-beta essentially– stressed out, anxious all the time, reliving the past, worried about what could potentially happen in the future… Once you can change those stories and drop into alpha brain waves and into gamma, then you can create a new reality for yourself.” –Taylor MorganKey Timestamps[12:40] – Episode start with Dr. Erik Won;[13:46] – Dr. Won’s military background with Marines and why he focuses on this area of study;[15:45] – What is WaveNeuro? Why is it breakthrough technology?;[18:37] – WaveNeuro provides visualization of abnormal brain processes in order to target for therapy;[20:05] – A more in-depth look at the different types of brain waves and the purpose of each;[22:13] – How sleep deprivation can damage our health and wellbeing and make things difficult;[24:53] – Combating the idea that we can perform “just fine” with less than ideal amounts of sleep;[26:50] – Advice for those whose sleep schedules are dictated for them (shift work and military);[30:48] – How can WaveNeuro help and how it works in clinic versus at home with Sonal™;[36:23] – Who is WaveNeuro actually for or most effective at treating;[38:27] – The difference between in-clinic therapy versus Sonal™ at home;[39:45] – What are the benefits;[43:14] – Combined therapies, episode wrap up and what Dr. Won is most excited about the future of this field.Episode ResourcesJoin the Waitlist for the new and improved Captain’s Lifestyle Program: https://www.thecaptainslifestyle.com/waitlistShow SponsorsLambs EMF Blocking Clothing (CODE: CAPTAINMORGAN): https://tinyurl.com/2p8jn86hWaveBlock EMF Protection (CODE: CAPTAINMORGAN): https://tinyurl.com/3a4ukk48Airestech EMF Protection (CODE: CAPTAINMORGAN): https://airestech.com/?ref=captainmorganHVMN Ketone-IQ™ (CODE: CAPTAINMORGAN10): https://hvmn.com/?rfsn=6210625.514868Connect with ErikInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/waveneuro/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/WaveNeuroTwitter: https://twitter.com/waveneuro?lang=enWebsite: https://waveneuro.com/Connect with TaylorInstagram: https://tinyurl.com/2p92c3wzInstagram: https://tinyurl.com/55k552naWebsite: https://tinyurl.com/mrxzv7ff

135: What You Probably Don’t Know About Ketosis with Dr. Latt Mansor

In this episode, Taylor interviews Dr. Latt Mansor about his work with ketones and the different effects they can have on our bodies. As both point out throughout the episode, any benefit of ketones depends on the individual– both the way their genetic makeup reacts to ketones and their level of activity. Starting off the episode with a more clinical approach, Latt breaks down and defines what ketones are, the process of ketogenesis, and what conditions must be met for our bodies to enter ketosis. As the episode progresses, the discussion centers around endogenous ketones versus exogenous ketones and the benefits of each. Using a ketogenic diet, the body takes advantage of endogenous ketones produced, yielding benefits like weight loss and a boost in energy. On the flip side, using an exogenous ketone source, such as Ketone-IQ™, may be suited more for a generally healthy individual that seeks to fuel their mental clarity, metabolic health, or athletic performance. The episode wraps up with Latt discussing his work with the Special Forces to combat the effects of hypoxia through the consumption of exogenous ketones.Tune in to learn more!Key Quotes“I think at the end of the day, we only have one life. We’ve got to enjoy our life as much as we can, but also take care of it– so by being on a ketogenic diet [it] is us taking care of our health, our wellbeing.” –Dr. Latt Mansor“If you don’t like what you’re eating every single day, that could be doing more harm than good because of the mental aspect of it.” –Taylor MorganKey Timestamps[7:25] – Episode start with Dr. Latt Mansor;[11:55] – Defining ketones, ketosis, and ketogenesis;[14:22] – Endogenous versus Exogenous ketones;[19:16] – Benefits of a ketogenic diet (endogenous ketones);[22:42] – The correlation between mental wellbeing and physiology;[24:51] – How exogenous ketones act quickly through the blood-brain barrier;[29:23] – Benefits of using exogenous ketones (Ketone-IQ™);[32:09] – Using ketones, casein, or collagen before sleep and relaxation;[39:18] – Latt’s study with the Special Forces (ketones against hypoxia);[43:30] – The effects of diet and levels of physical activity on body composition;[50:35] – Focus on the quality and timing of meals;[52:58] – The importance of using trial and error to determine what works for your body;[57:48] – Who Ketone-IQ™ is and isn’t for;[1:01:16] – Episode wrap upShow SponsorsHVMN Ketones (CODE: CAPTAINMORGAN10): https://tinyurl.com/5awbrv4wNootropics from Nootopia: www.nootopia.com/taylorLambs EMF Blocking Clothing (CODE: CAPTAINMORGAN): https://tinyurl.com/2p8jn86hWaveBlock EMF Protection (CODE: CAPTAINMORGAN): https://tinyurl.com/3a4ukk48Connect with Dr. Latt MansorInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/lattmansor/?hl=enConnect with TaylorInstagram: https://tinyurl.com/2p92c3wzInstagram: https://tinyurl.com/55k552naWebsite: https://tinyurl.com/mrxzv7ff

134: Neuroplasticity: How To Rewire Your Brain with Bob Doyle

In this episode, Taylor and Bob take a deep dive into the study of neuroplasticity and how we can use it to develop into a higher version of ourselves. Bob notes that there was a widely accepted switch in how people interacted with the Law of Attraction which is what led him to his work of brain rewiring. The journey we must go on to rewire our brains successfully is the goal we should strive to achieve. In the first half of the episode, Taylor and Bob discuss what life circumstances can lead us to seek a change. In order to make that change a reality, we must become self-aware of the stories we have told ourselves for so long that have pushed our brains into an “autopilot” mode.Taylor leads the second half of the episode by asking Bob for practical tips and strategies on how to rewire our brains to be the versions of ourselves we want to become. Bob discusses throughout the episode the powerful tool of visualization. In order to rewire our brains to learn something new and lead us to become that higher self, we should visualize what life would be like and then make it a non-negotiable. The stories we tell ourselves along the way should all center around this end goal we have created for ourselves. Tune in to learn more!Key Quotes:“Most of our wiring that has occurred has happened on autopilot, automatically. We’ve just been in response mode, but if we take conscious control over the thoughts we are sending our brain … that is how we will eventually change.” –Bob Doyle“This new behavior will become easier and easier. Yes, you will have to go through the discomfort. Yes, you will make the mistakes. Yes, you will have times when you feel like you went ten steps back– every ten steps back is really ten steps forward as long as you get right back into action.” –Bob Doyle“If you give the brain information on an ongoing basis, it will change itself to support that.” –Bob DoyleKey Timestamps:[8:56] – Introducing Bob Doyle;[9:56] – The Law of Attraction, Neuroplasticity and why Bob made the switch;[15:21] – Conscious control over the brain vs. the subconscious programming we’ve undergone;[16:34] – Our brain is ready to take new programming if we’d like to give it;[17:10] – Rewiring is learning;[18:19] – The distinction between who you are and the decision of who to be;[19:10] – How to rewire the 95%;[20:39] – The power of visualizing;[24:25] – The process is what gives you the right to be that person;[25:29] – Strategies to tell new stories;[30:33] – Overcoming excuses we tell ourselves;[33:15] – Bob’s quiz, the skeptic and the wizard;[36:27] – The seeker and the people-pleaser;[40:42] – Evolve Your Excellence, Connecting with Bob, closing thoughtsShow Sponsors:Lambs EMF Blocking Clothing (CODE: CAPTAINMORGAN): https://tinyurl.com/2p8jn86hWaveBlock EMF Protection (CODE: CAPTAINMORGAN): https://tinyurl.com/3a4ukk48HVMN Ketones (CODE: CAPTAINMORGAN10): https://tinyurl.com/5awbrv4wRelated Links:Transformation Personality Type Quiz: https://boundlesslivingchallenge.com/tptquizConnect with Bob:Website: https://www.meetbobdoyle.com/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/bobdoylefromthesecret/Connect with Taylor:Instagram: https://tinyurl.com/2p92c3wzInstagram: https://tinyurl.com/55k552naWebsite: https://tinyurl.com/mrxzv7ff

133: Advanced Meditation Retreat with Dr. Joe Dispenza featuring Pat Smith

In this episode, Taylor and Pat reflect on their experiences during the seven-day meditation retreat with Dr. Joe Dispenza. They explain that the work that was done can be for anyone seeking to make a change. Taylor and Pat set the stage by dissecting their shared experience of day one which focused on energy centers of the body. Pat shares a challenge that many of us can relate to– the ability to overcome the analytical mind and be present in the moment. With the foundation of their experience set, Taylor and Pat discuss how day two left both of them frustrated and stressed when their first reflex was to compare each meditative experience to the last one they completed. Through reflection, both came to realize that we should appreciate each experience individually.Building on their meditative experiences each day, this helped prepare Taylor and Pat for their final three days of the retreat– the coherence healings. Pat shares the idea throughout the episode that giving love allows us to receive love. This idea of love in abundance fueled and empowered the two and put them in a position to heal others and feel complete love and energy in return.Tune in to learn more!Key Quotes“Instead of putting an expectation on something … just allow the experience to be the experience.” –Taylor Morgan“The more those floodgates open, the more abundance you give out; which is more abundance that comes back in which equates to more freedom, more love, more joy.” –Pat Smith“The Universe only gives us what we believe we are worthy of receiving.” –Dr. Joe DispenzaKey Timestamps[2:16] – Introduction of recap with Pat;[4:10] – Pat and Taylor’s take on their time with Dr. Joe Dispenza;[10:43] – Recap of retreat begins;[13:17] – Why are you addicted to a life you don’t even like?;[15:30] – Who is this retreat and meditative work for?;[22:33] – Day 1 overview - the energy centers;[35:36] – Day 2 overview - not comparing experiences to each other;[40:46] – Days 3 & 4 - walking meditations and the higher self;[1:06:32] – Days 5-7 - coherence healingsRelated LinksDr. Joe Dispenza’s website: https://drjoedispenza.com/Becoming Supernatural: https://tinyurl.com/2p9d8hbtConnect with PatInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/patsmithwellness/Connect with TaylorInstagram: https://tinyurl.com/2p92c3wzInstagram: https://tinyurl.com/55k552naWebsite: https://tinyurl.com/mrxzv7ff
