Sustainability & Stewardship in Health and Fitness with Autumn Smith - Ep. 115

Send us a textHealth and fitness are two topics whose relation to food is highly important. After all, what we put inside our bodies on a daily basis directly impacts how we feel – and even what we think. Not only that, food also has a correlation with quality of life and mental health issues. When choosing what to eat, choose wisely, because your body function depends on it.   In this episode, Dr. Jade and guest Autumn Smith talk about the importance of making ourselves a priority when it comes to our eating habits. Our own wellbeing is what we should be paying attention to when choosing a proper eating lifestyle for ourselves. That’s how Autumn envisions her mission and why she strongly implements this concept into her company: Paleovalley.   Check out the Next Level Human sponsors! On Looking Good: The Art & Science Of Fat Loss - Ep. 114

Send us a textLet’s talk about fitness, one of the most important things to do is define your goal. This goal oftentimes impacts the way we look, the way we feel, how long we live and how well we function. In this episode, Dr. Jade explains the importance of focusing on one specific thing at a time because: “the metabolism doesn’t like to multitask”. He also highlights the main points of fat loss, the difference between fat loss and weight loss, the types of workouts we should maintain when trying to lose fat, and the role that cardio and nutrition play in this process. According to Dr. Jade, it’s not enough to just go out and exercise for it to ‘be fitness’; in fact, if your goal is weight loss, exercising too much can get in the way of that goal. In addition, you will learn the contrast between a higher carbohydrate/lower fat diet, a lower carbohydrate/higher fat diet and how to maintain protein high in both cases. Either way one thing is true: we’re all different individuals so the approach will inevitably change.   Check out the Next Level Human sponsors! Metabolism and the Gut with Dr. Mary Pardee - Ep. 113

Send us a textWhen we think about the significance of food for our overall health we almost immediately think about the type of food, right? This external source that goes into our body is relevant, but what if we also began analyzing what happens inside of the body? The immune system, digestive system, metabolism and gut health are all connected. In fact, even other systems and organs can be affected by the importance we give to the way we feed ourselves. The human body is a concise group of mechanisms working together and learning more about it is a ‘next level’ step towards our wellbeing.   In this episode, Dr. Jade welcomes Dr. Mary Pardee in a conversation all about metabolism and the gut. Dr. Mary explains the concept of microbiomes, probiotics, food sensitivity tests and supplements like digestive enzymes. You will also learn more about day to day actions that you can practice – such as 12-hour fasting – to improve gut health, mindset shifts involving mindful eating and fear around food, and the idea behind “Metabolic Rehab”.   Check out the Next Level Human sponsors!
