DEVOTION EQUALS FULFILMENT

Jocko Willink says Discipline Equals Freedom. I love that message and it's really helped me.  However, discipline is a matter of the mind.  I believe devotion is the matter of the heart.  My view is therefore is that DEVOTION EQUALS FULFILMENT.  This episode was recorded while live on Instagram (@ryanbhartley)

Keep showing up

Don't misunderstand this. The more we show up for ourselves, the better we can show up for others.

Ep 108 Interview Sessions with Dr. Vanessa Lapointe

This week I am so excited to bring to you an amazing conversation with Dr. Vanessa Lapointe,  Registered Psychologist, author, parenting educator, and mother of two. Dr Vanessa has developed a keen understanding of the powerful connection between healthy child development and the parent-child or “big-person”- child relationship. Through this lens it is her experience that we can understand everything about the growing child from behavior to anxiety to brain development. And all the in-between stuff too. It is Dr Vanessa's singular goal that parents, teachers, caregivers, and all the other big people are able to connect with their own expertise and intuition in finding a way through. In this episode you'll hear: 04:00 and then I became a mother! 05:00 showing up as the big people who help our little people become all they are intended to be while we become all we are intended to be 05:45 parenting is leadership in the home - safety and connection 08:30 unconditional love - kids need to know they are loved no matter how they show up 11:30 parenting pop culture enthused with generational biases - it’s behaviourist in mentality and yet goes against everything we know about the importance of connection and compassion based child development 14:20 it takes a village - advice to men who have never had the male role model 18:10 if you had just one person show up, you’ve got the neurological template 18:45 connecting without ourselves before connecting with the our children 22:00 how old are you when you’re feeling? - all over reaction is an age regression 25:00 discipline without damage 27:30 parenting like Crush 29:00 don’t retire too soon - be incredibly available 32:00 we are never one step behind or in front, we are exactly where we are meant to be, always stepping forward - the heart beats on leading us to better tomorrow’s 33:10 you really do have this in you Please do share this with a parent or caregiver you'd love to inspire. We hope it helps in your leadership in the home in some small way. Life Languages™ with Always Better than Yesterday

If you've ever listened to me speak about how we create a world that is always better than yesterday, you'll know that the master key to making that happen is leadership. Because when leaders get better, we get better, our families get better, our communities get better and you see where I am going with this... Well, the best way to help a leader get better is firstly help them become more self aware. This is why I have spent the whole week on Zoom being trained as a Communications Coach that is certified to use the Life Languages™ tool. Although tired, I am so excited to be able to start using the Kendall Life Languages Profile™ (KLLP) to be able to help leaders (you) learn more about themselves and others. When we learn more about ourselves and others, we become more intentional with our words and our actions and as a result, make more of an impact and become more influential. If you're curious and want to learn a bit more, you can use this link to take a free mini profile. If you resonate with what you see and what to explore it in more detail and see how it can transform your relationship with yourself and those important people around you, we can talk! Love you guys, hope it helps and share your primary language in the WE ARE ABTY community! Ryan
