#52 How do you know when it's time to quit a client?
Today, I’m sharing open and honest advice that no one really talks about in this freelancer world: knowing when it’s time to walk away from a client. Even if you love the client, the work, the money... it can be hard to make that decision. Here’s five questions to ask yourself so you’ll know if it’s time to quit. I coached a fellow virtual assistant through this process of deciding to quit a client. It was really helpful to narrow down the client work, the client and team, the opportunities to focus on whether it was right for her to stay or not. I need this advice myself over the years. These questions would have made it so clear-cut and obvious when most of my client relationships needed to end. I find it so inspiring to hear how other freelancers got started and found their niche. Today I’m chatting with award-winning podcaster Jen Amos about her journey in this online service world. Jen is a military child and Gold Star daughter who never found a traditional 9-5 job attractive. She told me recently, "If it weren't for the internet I wouldn't have been able to work from home for the last decade." Thank goodness for the Internet! Jen started running her own social media and online business consulting agency in San Diego. It’s really fun to hear how she started, what the work really looked like because for many of my unicorn students become social media managers. She gives solid insight to the client work, social media calendars, batching and how she raised her prices. After a coast-to-coast move, Jen pivoted to hosting and producing her own podcast.
