Imagination and Independent Play
Independent play and having a vivid imagination opens up so many doors for our children. We want to see their ability to play by themselves and create a whole world for themselves while we get our adult stuff done or even sit down and feel some independence ourselves. We go in depth into how to facilitate the development of both and what works and doesn't work for us. Check our Instagram page for a journaling guide around play and join our Facebook Community Group for more discussion.

The Argument Against Reasoning and Lecturing
Reasoning and explaining can often feel like a need for us. In our adult minds we believe if we explain why things are a certain way, our child will relinquish their upset feelings. Yet just the opposite is true. Listen in as we give the 411 on why reasoning can be considered a punishment in itself. Don't forget to check out our Patreon for all new freebies from Michelle!

We're back for Season Two!! We're kicking off with an episode all on getting back to school. This can be difficult for parents and children alike but even more difficult with all the changes this year. While we all navigate the "new normal," and try to find our peace within this tumultuous time, we discuss what’s become obvious over the last year and how to start this year with as much ease as possible. We referenced a couple books that may be helpful for kids as we transition back, find them here: How Full Is Your Bucket? and Alexander.

Fears
We, as parents, want to help our children overcome their fears and reason them away with simple messages like, "there are no monsters in the closet," "just jump in the water, you'll be fine," or "there's no such thing as the boogie man." But does this really help them overcome the fear itself? Or do they just shove it down to appease us? We are talking about why we sit through all the fears that come up in childhood and how to facilitate a safe space for them to process and eventually come to terms with their fears. Learn how to get more connected and cooperative kids with Michelle's Guide to Cooperation Course!

Shame
We're talking about shame when it comes to our kids, ourselves and others. We believe our children need to hear how wrong they are for their behaviors or words at times and we use shame to do this. We have come to realize it actually makes them act out even more and the cycle of shame continues. Listen to how we avoid shame in all aspects. If you haven't already, check out Michelle's Guide to Cooperation course for even more!!
