FaceCulture is a daily-updated music platform for in-depth interviews, live sessions, and a lot more with your favorite artists. While we operate mainly on YouTube and other video services, with this podcast we wan't to enable people to listen to a selection of both old and new interviews whenever and however they prefer. A short disclaimer: Because a lot of our interviews are conducted at festivals, music venues, hotels, restaurants, and the like, the quality of the audio isn't always in our full control, so please bare with us when the sound quality doesn't always match that of other podcasts. Having said that, we do want to provde the listener with as comfortable a listening experiences as possible, so not every interview that we do as FaceCulture will find its way to the podcast. Death Angel - Ted Aguilar (2021)
Ted Aguilar is the guitarist for one of the quintessential Bay Area trash metal bands: Death Angel. After being a fan of Death Angel from the beginning, he was asked to join as the rhythm guitarist when the band reformed in 2001, after being on hiatus for most of the 90s. We spoke with Aguilar about the new live album 'Bastard Tracks', a collection of rare or never performed live tracks that span the bands 30+ year existence. Strand of Oaks - Timothy Showalter (2021)
We had a beautiful conversation with American singer-songwriter Timothy Showalter, better known as Strand of Oaks. Ever since his first album 'Leave Ruin' in 2009 Showalter has continued to release albums, evolving and developing his craft along the way, the most recent being 'In Heaven'. We also spoke about taking up painting, a jazz approach to the album, quitting alcohol, not wanting to drag people down, being proud of his own artistry, support from his wife and My Morning Jacket, breaking a generational cycle, human connectivity and so much more.
