Carl Hewitt | Embracing Risk and Building Resilience: Insights from Carl Hewitt’s Entrepreneurial Path

Today, Carl Hewitt shares the challenges and lessons he has learnt since starting his first business at the age of 15. From customising Xbox controllers at 15, to now becoming the managing director of Hewitt Matthews, a digital marketing agency, Carl has gained a myriad of wisdom and advice on how to overcome challenges. Carl firstly shares the challenges that he faced as a young business owner, pointing out the biggest challenge was surprisingly the lack of network, rather than being “young”, as such. With the limited responsibilities that often come with being young, Carl shares how at the time, their fear of failure was minimal, therefore allowing them to take big risks and ultimately grow the business faster. Now with more responsibility, Carl expresses the importance of being self-aware, and continuing to take risks, always keeping in mind that whatever the outcome, it too shall pass.   Connect with Carl: LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/carl-hewitt/ Website: http://www.hewittmatthews.co.uk/     ########## This podcast is brought to in association with Lodge Court, who are Experts in HR.  They can support you with every people issue you may face. What do you do when your career has been derailed? Catherine Morgan, award-winning career transition expert, shares how to manage the journey from losing a job, to finding yourself and new opportunities. Catherine firstly emphasises the importance of acknowledging the inevitable emotional rollercoaster, or identity crisis, and being gentle with yourself throughout the ride: truly allowing yourself to process and untangle what has happened, before jumping into figuring out what is next. Catherine reiterates that a new chapter will mean something different to everyone, with an array of positive or negative emotions at stake. Thus, the best way to support someone is to listen and offer to be helpful, rather than trying to fix it for them.   Watch the full episode on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vbsyac0xCYs   Connect with Catherine: LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/pointatopointb/ Website: https://www.pointatopointbtransitions.com/   ########## This podcast is brought to in association with Lodge Court, who are Experts in HR.  They can support you with every people issue you may face. Joshua Purvis | What is the benefit of creating a culture of curiosity in an organisation?

From asking hundreds of questions a day as a child, to drastically less as an adult, we all become less curious as we get older. So, what is the benefit of creating a culture of curiosity in an organisation? Today, Josh Purvis, co-founder and chief product officer at Assembly, explores curiosity, listening to real problems and how to express counter-opinions effectively. Josh emphasises the importance of not only incentivising or promoting the wins but also the losses. Punishing losses will diminish the ability of people to experiment and be curious. Leading in this way limits innovation, creates fear-led leadership and ultimately results in more losses. Increasing the rate at which you experiment can help create a culture of curiosity.   Watch the full episode on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hwI02aa4sKw   Connect with Joshua: LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/joshuapurvis/ Website: https://www.joinassembly.com/     If you are looking for a Blueprint to help you and your business manage uncertainty, deal with failure and navigate change then reach out to Julian on the link below.   https://calendly.com/julianroberts/45min   https://www.julianrobertsconsulting.com/
