Influencer, community builder and all round internet queen Heather Parady started a podcast with a friend in 2021 to introduce newbies to NFTs and Web3, and within 8 months they had hit 1 million downloads. Heather has a background in photography and psychology, and comes at the Web3 space with a thoughtful approach - she wants to get rid of unnecessary jargon and make Web3 more human. Rakhee Shah is a PR aficionado by day, Web3 cofounder by night, having started Gold Bangle Club in 2022 to bring more South Asian women into the Web3 space. Rakhee has a background in leading campaigns in social purpose and behavioural change such as cancer awareness and the rights of women in the workplace during maternity leave and post-baby. She has worked at various PR agencies ranging from Freuds to specialist agencies looking to reach ethnically diverse audiences, and while on maternity leave she discovered the world of Web3 and the possibilities it held for social purpose. With her Web3 hat on, she spends her evenings building Gold Bangle Club with her cofounders Hamisha Mehta and Nirali Patel, weaving together culturally rich artwork and storytelling with of course blockchain technology. Caitlin Lacey recently became Senior Director of Product Marketing for Niantic’s AR Developer Platform, if Niantic sounds familiar it’s because they’re the creators of Pokemon GO. Niantic was previously a startup within Google before being spun out as very much its own company, and they are leaders in the augmented reality field. Nicola Mendelsohn CBE is one of the best known women in tech globally, reporting directly to Sheryl Sandberg at Meta (previously known as Facebook). She was born in Manchester in the UK and first made a name for herself leading advertising agencies including Karmarama, being President of the IPA (Institute of Practitioners in Advertising), and later she was given a CBE in 2015 for Services to the Creative Industries. Nicola has spent nearly a decade at Meta, with the majority of that time spent leading all of Europe, the Middle East and Africa, before being promoted in 2021 to VP of Global Business Group. In today’s episode we talk about all things metaverse, including anecdotes about how people turn up to VR leadership meetings, examples of how brands are building in the metaverse, and her vision for the future of work. Molly Dickson is a fashion photographer and collage motion artist and self-confessed “accidental” NFT artist. Her genesis collection Computer Cowgirls sold out, and she’s since created the “F*ck You” collection of 10,000 NFTs to send funds to a vetted set of non-profit organizations, as well as creating CowgirlDAO. Alexis Miller leads partnerships at Endaoment, the first non-profit built on the Ethereum blockchain, and the major partner of Computer Cowgirls in making it easy to send crypto to non-profits. Cathy’s company was recently acquired just 10 months after being founded, and she is now on the founding team of Journey and is their Chief Metaverse Officer. She’s previously worked at Magic Leap, HTC and Amazon Web Services, and has a huge amount of experience in VR. Lavinia Osbourne is a leader in the blockchain space thanks to her diversity and inclusion focused business Women in Blockchain Talks. Having worked in finance, Lavinia pivoted her career after the 2008 financial crisis and started her own financial wellbeing consultancy and has since gone onto explore blockchain and its fascinating applications. We have a *very* special guest today, Randi Zuckerberg, queen of the metaverse and the "Original Mother Hugger", joins Lauren to talk about creating the friendliest place in all of Web3. Randi spent her early career at Meta back when it was Facebook, where she created Facebook Live. She then spent time in the arts including producing theatre, singing on Broadway and even winning an Emmy award. Feeling that she had a split identity as both techie and artist, Randi was excited to find the world of NFTs which finally brought together creativity and technology. She is now the cofounder of HUG, a suite of business offerings that bring together NFT creators and collectors.
