Ep 212: 10 Questions For Every Room You're In (with Emily P. Freeman)
One of my greatest teachers of the last few years is author, podcaster, and speaker Emily P. Freeman. I have learned so much from her work and devoured her latest NEW YORK TIMES best selling book How To Walk Into A Room: The Art of Knowing When To Stay and When To Walk Away.Emily says, "Our whole life is like a house, and every commitment, community, role, and relationship is like a room." In this conversation, Emily and I continue her room metaphor and she asks 10 Questions from her book that we can use to discern our own sense of belonging, and our choices to stay or leave. The framework of these 10 questions is perfect for 10 Things To Tell You and I loved unpacking each of these questions and concepts with Emily.Find out more about Emily P. Ep 211: The Cell Phone Contract (a conversation with my kids)
My daughter Lucy is 14 and has had a cell phone for about a year and a half. My son Finch is 12 and will get his first cell phone in just a few months. While we're in the transitional time as a family, I thought it would be a good time to sit down with them and talk through all the feelings, convenience, and concerns that comes with teen cell phone usage. This conversation surprised me. Both kids said things I'd never heard them say before. I hope that this episode is a fun peek into our family dynamics and also an encouragement to have your own conversations about cell phones and social media.GET THE TEEN CELL PHONE CONTRACT HEREFULL SHOW NOTES ARE HEREMENTIONED in this episode:Ep. 48: Should We Post Our Kids on Social Media? I have followed photographer Kate T. Parker on Instagram for years now and continue to be inspired by her depictions of her fierce and dynamic daughters (and their friends). Ep 208: How My Anxiety Has Changed In My 40s
It's been awhile since we've talked directly about mental health, and I wanted to give a personal update about what I've noticed is different about my lifelong anxiety in the last few years. I attribute these changes to aging, and evolving lifestyle, and a few different habits that I have really prioritized since I turned 40.As always when I share on this topic, it is meant to be purely my own experience and is not medical advice.FULL SHOW NOTES HEREMENTIONED in this episode:Sorta Awesome Episode 26: The Truth About AnxietySorta Awesome Episode 101: The Truth About Anxiety (Part II)10 Things To Tell You Episodes by Topic (scroll to the mental health section)Episode 18, 10 Thoughts on AnxietyEpisode 86: 10 Thoughts On TherapyEpisode 182: 10 Things About 10 Years in TherapyEpisode 203: Meditation for Beginners SUBSCRIBE to 10 Things To Tell You so you never miss an episode!CLICK HERE for episode show notesFOLLOW @10ThingsToTellYou on InstagramFOLLOW @10ThingsToTellYou on FacebookJOIN the 10 Things To Tell You Connection GroupSIGN UP for episode emails, links, and show notesJOIN the Secret Stuff PatreonBUY THE BOOK: Share Your Stuff.
