Ep018 - A Wellbeing tutelage with Corporate Wellness Consultant Bec Mitchell

How do we live our best and healthiest life? We all know we should eat right, move regularly and look after our mental wellbeing.  The big question is how do we turn this into daily action, ritual and positive mindset. In Episode 18, we are lucky enough to have one of Australia's leading Corporate Wellness Speakers Bec Mitchell In this episode Bec and Tom discuss: How Bec fell into Physiotherapy and found her passion in speaking and educating corporate clients across Australia How an unfortunate car accident lead to Bec becoming a more active, healthier and happier person  The morning ritual that will set you up for a thriving day The key issues in the workplace right now and some strategies for companies to work through How the focus on employee wellbeing has been a silver lining for 2020/21 The value of human connection and relationships in the evolving workplace model About Bec Mitchell ‘How do we live our best life?’ This question led me to first gain my Bachelors Degree in Physiotherapy at the University of Melbourne in 2010, and now to completing my Masters in Psychology and Neuroscience. For the first 7 years of my career as a Physiotherapist I was fortunate enough to learn the importance of evidence-based medicine as I worked alongside some of Australia’s top surgeons, sports doctors, dietitians and physios at Olympic Park Sports Medicine. But still the existential questions continued to burn inside me… so I went on to do further study in meditation teaching, nutrition and psychology. And what I learnt through my personal experience and my studies is this: Exercise and eating well isn’t just for athletes, and 6 packs are the least exciting benefit they offer. Evidence-based wellbeing helps us think clearer, be more creative, focus more effectively, enhances our mood, and allows us to give more to the world. And isn’t that what life is about? So now I work with wonderful organisations like CBA, Westpac, EY, General Assembly and The Australian Army to help spread this message. My aim is to help people like you access the science of healthy habits so you can use your brain to it’s full ability, and maybe even get a little happier along the way. Ep016 Micro-markets and the future of workplace eating is here with CEO of Morsl, Karla Borland

Nutrition is the foundation of a great working day. Do you agree? 🥗 In episode 16, Tom Bosna interviews Karla Borland who is the CEO of Morsl. Karla founded Morsl after working many years working in Finance Karla remembered working long hours and having issues with finding healthy snacks at work Morsl was born out of the vision to create healthy changes through healthy eating Australia's first micro-market is high tech and a self-service automated food and drink marketplace that fits within a workplace.  Morsl is employee centric with a focus on 80/20 principle to nutrition. Connect with hosts Tom Bosna and Josh Lambert and we would love your feedback so please rate us on Apple podcast so we can be of service to you. About Karla: After 17 years in the banking industry, having worked in Sydney, Singapore and Zurich, I left my role as a Director of Credit Suisse and found Morsl in 2018. Morsl offers Australia's first self-service food and drink market for workplaces. The idea for Morsl was borne out of a daily frustration of trying to eat healthy in the office. I wanted to eat healthy, but I was time poor and I didn’t have the knowledge to read nutritional labels. I always ended up at the vending machine every afternoon buying a coke and chocolate. After analysing the market in Australia, I realised there was a gap in how corporates provide their staff with access to healthy food options in a way which is integrated and sustainable for employees. Providing staff with seminars on nutrition and cooking classes is a fantastic form of education but our Morsl markets now allow them to put those learnings into practice on a daily basis. Morl's mission is to have a real impact on employee health by improving the eating habits of employees.
