Episode 443: Covid-19 Vaccines Part 3 - Myths and FAQ’s

This week, Stacy and Dr. Sarah answer questions from listeners regarding the Covid-19 Vaccines Myths in hopes of clarifying any unclear areas from the previous two shows. You can find the full show notes with links to the products and articles discussed on this episode here. Previous Covid-19 showsIn episode #440, Dr. Sarah and Stacy examined the history of vaccines and the very real statistics on vaccine-induced injury. They also looked at the advances that led to mRNA vaccine technology and the inherent advantages of this platform. In episode #441 explored the safety and efficacy data from the phase 2/3 clinical trials for both the Pfizer/BioNTech and the Moderna covid-19 vaccines.Stacy thanks every listener for all their positivity and understanding. The point of these shows is to give the information needed to make an informed decision for yourself. She also reminds listeners that she and Sarah are not medical professionals. They are not qualified to give medical advice on whether you should get the vaccine or not.Listener FAQ: Covid-19 Vaccines Myths The first question Dr. Sarah takes is about herd immunity and why wearing masks is still encouraged after vaccination. Dr. Sarah jumps to another listener's question on whether those asymptomatic or mild cases carry the risks of long covid or other long-term damage.  Another listener asks if the Covid-19 vaccines are safe for pregnant women and children yet, due to it being super unclear in the media.  Another listener asks for recommendations for breastfeeding. Sarah says that nothing is saying that breastfeeding could be problematic. But it does warrant a conversation with your doctor. Dr. Sarah addresses a question from a listener regarding information she heard about the possibility of hurting the lining of their placenta when they want to have children. What is the premise of this?  Dr. Sarah covers another question on whether a vaccine could cause something with no history of autoimmune conditions to trigger a response for a lifelong autoimmune condition.  Dr. Sarah revisits vaccine injury, which they discussed in the Covid first show, and the timeframe. This week, Stacy and Dr. Sarah look at the differences in dietary protocol. They share their personal experiences, and what the science shows is the best place to start! You can find the full show notes with links to the products and articles discussed on this episode here.Listener QuestionHello Dr. Sarah and Stacy! I was so happy to find your podcast during these strange times and have found all your Covid shows so helpful. I understand that neither of you strictly follow any of the diets you talk about on the show (AIP, Sarah’s Gut Health Diet and Paleo) but rather used them to find out what worked best for you over time. For those of us just starting out how do we go about picking a diet to start from? Is there a hierarchy here? And where does being a “nutrivore” fit into all of this? Apologies if you have already covered this, but I am slowly working my way through your shows. I have come to trust your recommendations and I would like to re-do my own way of eating, I just don't know where to start. Episode 435:  Is Protein from Vegetables Enough?

This week, Stacy and Sarah explore the science behind protein to determine whether getting protein for vegetables is enough to meet dietary requirements.Listener Question:"I have been listening to you two ladies since way back when you first started in 2012. Geez I was 15?! But I feel very lucky to have had such wonderful role models as I grew up in a not-so healthy (food and body image-wise) environment. And am thankful that I could count on you two to encourage a healthier perspective both inside and out!I was wondering if you could discuss the myth of protein combining. I feel like maybe the reason people new to the "whole" lifestyle (new word for 'paleo' a la your podcast name change) become meatheads is because of this myth that if we don't eat meat we will not get all the amino acids we need. However, as a biochemist and researcher, I have done the math using USDA nutritional guidelines. (2000 calories at 10-15% protein is only 50-75 g of protein with varying requirements for each individual amino acid) and their food database and found that as long as one eats ENOUGH PROTEIN PERIOD. It is literally impossible to not meet individual amino acid requirements – even consuming no meat, fish or eggs, as vegetables also have a significant protein-to-calorie ratio!I understand that the digestibility of plant proteins is much lower than that of animal. But I thought you ladies would love another excuse to tout the benefits of increasing veggie intake. Plus, it make anti-inflammatory diets look more affordable when one understands that we don’t have to hulk out on proteins. Love you two and hope you are safe and well in the epic times of COVID we are experiencing"You can find the full show notes with links to the products and articles discussed on this episode here.Don’t forget to subscribe to this channel and visit realeverything.com and thepaleomom.com! If you haven't yet unlocked our bonus content, checkout Patreon for exclusive behind-the-scenes content and how Stacy and Dr. Sarah really feel about the topics they discuss. As a dog mom, I really enjoyed the two episodes you did earlier this year on pets. After listening to your episode on CBD for pain management I wondered if CBD could also work for dogs?
