Episode 7 - Interview with the OCD Specialist Amanda Petrik-Gardner LCPC

In todays episode I interview the lovely and charming Amanda Petrik-Gardner. Amanda is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in private practice in Topeka, Kansas. She specializes in the treatment of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Body-Focused Repetitive Behaviors, and anxiety disorders. Amanda is on the board for OCD Kansas, an affiliate of the International OCD Foundation. She is also the creator of the OCD Exposure Coloring Book.   Amanda shares her experiences of working with people with OCD and emphasises hefr belief in the importance of following an evidenced based approach to treatment. She clearly brings a lot of positive energy to her work and this comes across in the interview. Episode 5 - Interview with Lisa White - Licensed Psychotherapist & Clinical Social Worker

She is a licensed psychotherapist and clinical social worker with over 20 years of experience of working with people with severe mental health problems. For many years she has worked with people with Bipolar and schizophrenia and we discuss how a big part of her work has been in helping these people to manage their anxiety, that they inevitably develop about their conditions. We dive into the relationship between anxiety and depression and discuss some of the underlying causes of these problems. We also take a look at panic and what people can do when they experience a panic attack. Lisa is incredibly experienced and gives a lot of tips and techniques for managing anxiety issues in the long term. Episode 4 - Corona Virus & OCD In A Lockdown - How Using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy Can Help

In this epsiode we discuss how to manage OCD during the crisis, so that it doesn´t take centre stage. We go into detail at how focusing on values can help us learn to accept difficult emotions and how being more present minded helps us to deal with problems. I also discuss some of the bizzare things that have happened to me over the last week and the importance of keeping a sense of humour to help keep things in perspective.
