The Unbroken Survivor of Human Trafficking with Lurata Lyon

Trigger warning: Our story today is unlike our typical content, but it's an extraordinary journey from darkness to light, from harrowing experiences to becoming a beacon of hope.   On today's episode, I have the privilege of chatting with Lurata Lyon. She's not just a survivor; she's a thriver. Lurata was a victim of human trafficking and organ harvesting in Yugoslavia, and today she's a presentation skills coach and a motivational speaker.   Lurata's life took a devastating turn in the late '90s during the turmoil in Kosovo. She was caught up in the brutal conflict, and not just once but twice, she found herself held as a captive.   In those darkest moments, she found the inner strength to endure and resist. Miraculously, her chance for freedom came when she was eventually rescued.   In her journey, Lurata learned to forgive herself for circumstances beyond her control and let go of the guilt that had weighed her down for so long. She built a loving family and is now a mother to two boys.   Today, Lurata is unwavering in her mission, committed to bringing about the positive change in the world. She aims to inspire others through motivational talks and engage in charitable efforts, with a particular focus on combating human trafficking.   Check out Lurata's book: https://www.luratalyon.com/my-book   Email enquiries@capitalforlife.com and see how this solution can help you, your family and your business partners.

The World's Fastest Accountant with Eugene Amo-Dadzie

This week, I had the pleasure of speaking with Eugene Amo-Dazie, also known as The World's Fastest Accountant.   Eugene’s career and future are a little different to most, if not all of the elite-level athletes and sports personnel that I speak to, where the word ‘retirement’ is filled with uncertainty…    Despite holding the title of ‘the fastest kid in the school’, getting a job and paying the bills took early-life priority over pursuing his extraordinary sprint ability.    2018 saw the Screw It Just Do It moment, and his journey to the World Championships at the age of 31 serves as a resounding testament that it's never too late to pursue your dreams.    Most recently, Eugene won bronze at the 2023 British Indoor Athletics Championships and the 2023 British Athletics Championships, and competed for Team GB at the World Athletics Championships where he reached the semi-finals and finished in the Top 10 in the individual 100m race, and Top 4 in the 100m relay.   Alongside senior management accountant for Berkeley Group, Eugene is also a governor of a primary school in London, husband & dad of two, and now sprinting his way, with remarkable determination, to dispel the stereotype that all accountants are mundane.    I thoroughly enjoyed hearing the ever-optimistic narration of Eugene's life thus far, all the moments that got him to where he is today, and some absolute nuggets of wisdom and inspiration I'm going to pin up on post-it notes myself.   Get 20% OFF with code JUSTDOIT at calderalab.com and make unforgettable first impressions that lead to the charming words, “You look younger!”.

Dan Murray-Serter: Reaching Your Heights

In this episode, I speak to Dan Murray-Serter to reveal his journey which began with a strong desire to make a difference in the world through entrepreneurship. Mental health was not at the forefront of his mind during these early stages.   Dan faced the initial hurdles of starting and running businesses with unwavering enthusiasm. At this point, he was yet to fully grasp the significance of mental health in his life and the lives of those around him.   Today, Dan Murray-Serter is not only a thriving entrepreneur but also an influential thought leader in the fields of business, mental health, and personal growth.   During our conversation, we delved into a wide range of topics including how he got into advertising, what was it like for his mum to hear about the bankruptcy, the first venture he did, the trigger moment of burnout and how to overcome it, the impact of prioritising mental health, and his Screw It Just Do It moment.
