Combatting Homelessness Through Coffee with Cemal Ezel

What if your morning cup of coffee could alter people's lives?   Cemal Ezel is the proud founder of Change Please, a social enterprise that helps homeless people by training them to become baristas and providing them with jobs. While on a sabbatical in Vietnam, the idea came to him after visiting a tea house staffed by deaf and mute people. The proceeds from the tea house were invested back into the staff's well-being. Upon returning to London, he enrolled in the School of Social Entrepreneurs after feeling unfulfilled in his role as a commodities broker.   Since launching they have won an array of awards, was voted Lloyd's Bank Social Entrepreneur of the Year 2017, Natwest's SEUK Trailblazer Awards 2017, were awarded Best Coffee at the World Beverage Innovation Awards, and Change Please was listed as one of Marketing Week's Top 100 Most Disruptive Brands 2017.   During my conversation with Cemal, he shared how a rocking chair test have helped him to make a significant difference, how they've grown from one man to a company, and how does a cup of coffee have helped changed people's lives.   Find out more about Cemal Ezel via LinkedIn & Website.

Dealing with the Anxiety & Fear of Life After Rugby with Alex Goode

Alex Goode is one of the most versatile rugby players in the club's back division and had developed into a star for Saracens playing over 330 games. On top of an impressive club career, Alex has also enjoyed a highly successful international career. Most recently, he has been a key member of the Saracens squad that secured second place in the Aviva and Gallagher Premiership. He was also been named the European Player of the Year by EPCR in January 2019.   Whilst his passion for rugby remains undimmed, he's still demonstrating his leadership qualities by captaining Saracens and his versatility by playing both flyhalf and fullback. By the age of 34, his thoughts turn to what life after rugby could look like.   During our conversation at Alex's home in North London, with many dashes tucked under his arm instead of a rugby ball, we talk about how your passion is the fundamental baseline to being successful, how to work hard to get on top of your game, life after rugby and his biggest fear and how to deal with anxiety, stress and putting pressure on oneself.   Find out more about Alex Goode via Instagram & Twitter.   This episode is sponsored by BetterHelp. Submerge To Reemerge with Cold Water Therapy with Laura Fullerton

So you know how I enjoy cold water therapy, throwing myself in the sea every day on the south coast of the UK... Well, I decided to chat to Laura Fullerton, Founder of Monk, the world's first smart ice bath. My first thought was to conduct the interview from inside one of the new ice baths. But with the latest models not due to be released until September, we decided on the next best thing, chatting from the water in the Serpentine at Hyde Park, London. As well as being a longtime advocate and an expert in cold water therapies, Laura also raised over £4 million of investment into Monk in the past couple of years as she works on bringing her vision to life with a waiting list in the 1000s. It's a testament to the power and popularity of cold water therapy.    And with an outside air temperature not much above zero and the water temperature hovering around seven degrees, we waded into the water for about six or seven minutes and with my voice a few octaves higher.   We retired to the Serpentine Lido Cafe to continue our conversation. Yes, we did get a few curious locals and the cafe manager asking what we were doing. But for the most part, we enjoyed a relatively quiet conversation about all things related to cold water therapy, a subject close to my heart.
