Why Running is Like Running a Business
Welcome to Sunday's Solo Episode #459. During this episode, I talk about the parallels between running and running your business. Here are some highlights: In running, all you need is a pair of trainers, shorts, t-shirt and the road. In starting your business, you can literally run with a phone or a laptop. Progress is slow at the start. But if you turn up everyday, do the work, trust the process and you will get there. It's lonely being a solo runner so join a running club and engage with the running community. It's the same with being a solo founder. Get a mentor and go to networking events. There are no shortcuts. There are no overnight success stories. Put in the hard work and reap the fruits after. Why Necessity is the Mother of Invention with Heather Smith
Welcome to Episode #458 with Heather Smith, Co-Founder, President, and Chief Visionary Officer at StoryFile. During this episode, Heather and I will be talking about how using conversational video can shape the way we do business. Here are some highlights: Necessity is the mother of invention. The primary driving force of most new inventions is a need. Studying history helps us understand how events in the past made things the way they are today. With lessons from the past, we not only learn about ourselves and how we came to be, but also develop the ability to avoid mistakes and create better paths for our societies. We can learn something from everybody. It doesn't matter who they are. Everything has a story. Every single person on this planet has a story to tell. Follow the Process
Welcome to Sunday's Solo Episode #457.
During this episode, I talk about growing your business, getting up, going again and following and trusting the process. When you do get those wins, celebrate them. Don't celebrate too big. When things don't go your way, don't take it out on yourself. Put it in perspective. Eventually, things will average themselves out in the end. You've just got to keep showing up and putting the work in. As soon as you stop following the process, that's when things can slide away.
