Scanners (1981) Review

Scanners (1981) synopsis: “A scientist trains a man with an advanced telepathic ability called "scanning", to stop a dangerous Scanner with extraordinary psychic powers from waging war against non scanners.”Starring: Stephen Lack, Patrick McGoohan, Jennifer O'Neill, and Michael IronsideDirector: David CronenbergThis week on Podcasting After Dark, co-host Zak walks us through our second David Cronenberg film (the first one being Shivers a few months ago). While Scanners might not get as much mainstream notoriety as The Fly we feel its influences are felt much further. It also holds up very well in 2022 as it touches on a lot of contemporary themes such as privatized security forces and big pharma pulling strings. David Cronenberg was truly ahead of his time with Scanners! As always, leave a message on Patreon or social media and let us know what you think of the episode!— SUPPORT PODCASTING AFTER DARK —PATREON - Two extra shows a month, including our celebrity interview series, plus videos and other exclusive content!MERCH STORE - We have a fully dedicated merch store at TeePublic with multiple designs and products!INSTAGRAM / FACEBOOK / LETTERBOXD - Follow us on social media for updates and announcements!Purchase 7 WINTERS ALONE on Amazon: HARDCOVER / PAPERBACK / KINDLEThis podcast is part of the BFOP Network

Interviews After Dark with Patricia Tallman

Where you know her from: Night of the Living Dead (1990), Army of Darkness (1992), and Babylon 5 (1993-98)It was a literally dream come true for us to interview the incredibly talented and kindhearted, Patricia Tallman! Patricia Tallman and Savini turned what was a very weak character in the original film into a total badass fit for a post-Ellen Ripley moviescape! We talk to Patricia Tallman about Night of the Living Dead (she shares stories of her pranking Tony Todd), Babylon 5, being a stuntwoman in Hollywood, and her spirituality (which is a huge part of her life). It's a wonderful interview and we hope you have as much fun listening to it as we did recording it!Follow Patricia Tallman on Instagram and Patreon— SUPPORT PODCASTING AFTER DARK —PATREON - Two extra shows a month, including our celebrity interview series, plus videos and other exclusive content!MERCH STORE - We have a fully dedicated merch store at TeePublic with multiple designs and products!INSTAGRAM / FACEBOOK / LETTERBOXD - Follow us on social media for updates and announcements!Purchase 7 WINTERS ALONE on Amazon: HARDCOVER / PAPERBACK / KINDLEThis podcast is part of the BFOP Network

Intruder (1989) Review

Intruder (1989) synopsis: “The overnight stock crew of a local supermarket find themselves being stalked and slashed by a mysterious maniac.”Starring: Elizabeth Cox, Dan Hicks, David Byrnes, and Sam RaimiDirector: Scott SpiegelThis week on Podcasting After Dark, Corey and Zak breakdown and review another fun movie picked by Patreon supporter, Crystal! Unlike that movie, Corey and Zak have never seen Intruder before now so they have no nostalgic point of reference for it.So, what do the boys think of this obscure slasher flick from the 80s? You’ll have to listen to the episode to find out but needless to say, it’s a wild ride of a film! Is it perfect? Not at all. Does it have great deaths and a zany killer? Frig yes!! Intruder has some awesome effects by the world famous Greg Nicotero and the team at KNB and should be watched just for that fact alone. Thanks again to Crystal for being such a huge supporter of the show!
