Granite rock is known for being the oldest igneous rock in the world, forming as early as 300 million years ago. The material is one of the hardest and most durable substances known to man, second only to diamonds. With this quality in mind, it’s of little surprise that mankind has used granite in building some of the most impressive monuments in history from the pyramids to the base of the Statue of Liberty. If you were building a structure that you planned on surviving a global disaster then granite would most likely be your best bet. This consideration is perhaps what led to the construction of a mysterious stone monument that is located in the unlikely location of Elberton, Georgia known mostly for its substantial supply of granite stone. Commissioned by a mysterious group that has remained anonymous to this very day, the megalithic monuments stands 19ft tall and collectively weigh nearly 240,000 pounds. In 1976, NASA was more than happy to release photos sent back by their pioneering Viking 1 space probe. Among those photos there was a mysterious image that would set the UFO community’s collective imagination to focus on our rocky red neighbor. Of the 40 missions sent to Mars, only 18 have been deemed successful. Although, the success rate seems impressive when weighed against the many challenges of landing and surviving on the martian planet surface. Kepler-47 C, a gas giant planet approximately 5 times the mass of Earth over 3,000 lightyears away. It is at least one of a few planets astronomers have observed orbiting a binary star system but if posts from an anonymous source in 2005 on an email forum including some of the time’s leading UFO researchers is to be believed, there is at least one other planet circling two stars and a team of U.S. military scientists were deployed to spend 10 years studying the planet and gather information about the inhabitants. Throughout the 19th century, a widespread fear of being buried prematurely took hold of many European and North American communities. Rumors and stories of people who seemingly passed away due to an illness, waking up to try to claw their way out of their wooden coffins or stone mausoleums. The obsession with this fear going so far as to spawn patents and prototypes of coffins that could be connected to a small bell or some other device above ground to allow the recently deceased to signal a graveyard caretaker to come to their aid. But in a number of towns within the Northeast United States, people were not as worried about burying their dead as worried about their dead were staying buried. For almost 100 years a panic gripped the towns and cities of New England where it was believed that recently deceased were returning from beyond the grave to feed on the living essences of their living family.
