How to price anything with The Pricing Lady Janene Liston | #603

How to price anything is tough. And something every business owner doesn't want to get wrong. So I thought I'd get The Pricing Lady in to help us all optimise our pricing strategy. It’s a priceless episode 603 of The (13 year-old, award-winning) Small Business Big Marketing podcast.   A little more about Janene Liston AKA The Pricing Lady Now, from what I can tell, pricing is one of those business activities that freaks the majority of business owners out. Agree? And if you get your pricing wrong, it can have a major impact on your growth. Which raises so many questions like … How do you best decide what to charge? Should you copy your competition’s pricing? When should you include prices on your website? When, if ever, should you discount? Are you charging too much? Too little? Luckily Janene Liston AKA The Pricing Lady has answers to them all. Plus more! She’s a genius at making sense of how to price your goods or services, as well as how you should speak, act and market your brand to achieve the optimal price. Now, Janene is an engineering graduate, and has a deep interest in bridges, which begs the question … how on earth did she become a world specialist on pricing?!   Resources mentioned in this episode of your favorite marketing podcast Join thousands of motivated business owners in The Small Business Big Marketing Tribe on Facebook Interview with Stage Kings Jeremy Fleming | #527   Services every business owner needs that Timbo recommends How to generate organic traffic to your website(without spending anything on advertising) High converting website designers(They built this website - take this simple quiz and see where yours needs improving) DIY SEO training - The most cost-effective way to get on page 1 of Google(20% off with discount code Timbo20) Proven customer attraction strategy(and ridiculously cheap) The Boomerang EffectTimbo's book on how and why to create helpful marketing    Businesses that made this podcast possible (please support them) DELL Technologies - Small business solutions Studio 1 Design - High converting website designers Fun Escapes - Proven customer attraction ideas Hawk Academy - DIY SEO training (discount code Timbo20 for 20% off)   Thanks for tuning in. NightQuarter's Michelle Christoe lives and breathes only what she loves | #602

Hey business owner. That’s you … Yeah, you! Today’s guest has one bit of advice for us all … 'Live and breathe only what you love'. Heard it before? Me too! Thought it was a bit unrealistic? Me too!  Afterall, we’ve all got to make a quid. Well, we’re about to be proved wrong. And that’s not a bad thing. It’s a glass-half-full episode 602 of The (13 year-old, award-winning) Small Business Big Marketing podcast.     A little more about NightQuarter's Michelle Christoe Michelle Christoe is the co-founder of NightQuarter, an immersive live entertainment precinct on Australia’s beautiful Sunshine Coast. NightQuarter is a massive outdoor space with food trucks, 6 stages for live performances attracting the likes of UB40 and James Reyne, there’s retail stores, plus Michelle caters for weddings, parties … anything really! But two things especially piqued my interest in wanting to chat with her. One is her unwavering philosophy around only doing what brings you joy … in business and life generally. And on a more practical level, I wanted to know how she overcame a cyber security attack when NighttQuarter’s Instagram - its number 1 form of marketing - was compromised in a very big way a few months ago. So let’s go and meet Michelle Christoe, where I kick things off sounding a little too envious!   Resources mentioned in this episode of your favorite marketing podcast What's on at NightQuarter Join thousands of motivated business owners in The Small Business Big Marketing Tribe on Facebook F1 Aerodynamicist, Kate Reid, makes the world's best croissants | #552 One simple mindset shift can take you from busy to profitable | #584 Services every business owner needs that Timbo recommends How to generate organic traffic to your website(without spending anything on advertising) High converting website designers(They built this website - take this simple quiz and see where yours needs improving) DIY SEO training - The most cost-effective way to get on page 1 of Google(20% off with discount code Timbo20) Proven customer attraction strategy(and ridiculously cheap) The Boomerang EffectTimbo's book on how and why to create helpful marketing    Businesses that made this podcast possible (please support them) DELL Technologies - Small business solutions Studio 1 Design - High converting website designers Fun Escapes - Proven customer attraction ideas Studio Hawk - DIY SEO training (discount code Timbo20 for 20% off)   Thanks for tuning in. How to build a cult-like following for your business with Forecite Helmet's Alfred Boyadgis | #601

In 2013, industrial designer Alfred Boyages had (in his own words) a seriously lucky motorcycle accident. Whilst recovering from a banged-up knee, he conceptualised the idea of a smart helmet; one that could help riders foresee what’s up ahead. Now all he needed was an army or riders to help him perfect it. Forecite Helmets was born and to this day, has a cult-like following. It’s a super smart episode 601 of The (13 year-old, award-winning) Small Business Big Marketing podcast.    A little more about Forcite Helmets' Alfred Boyadgis Like so many brands, industrial designer Alfred Boyadgis' business was born out of an unfortunate first-hand experience. In 2013, he took a slide on his Yamaha while riding through an oil slick, seriously injuring his knee.  With a keen interest in wearable technologies, and given the availability of sophisticated tracking technology, Alfred was convinced that there must be a way to combine these to allow motorcycle riders to foresee upcoming hazards, enabling them to take evasive action before they became a danger. So, far from being the end of a journey, Alfred’s “lucky accident” sparked a new one. He teamed up with fellow graduate, Julian Chow, and sharing a mutual passion for motorcycle culture as well as innovative design, the pair brought to life the first iteration of what would become the Forcite MK1 smart motorcycle helmet. And a very sexy beast it is! All they needed now was an army of riders to help them perfect it. And they got that in spades, with the Forcite Helmet brand now having a cult-like following. We start off with Alfred taking us inside the mind of a motorcycle rider …   Resources mentioned in this episode of your favorite marketing podcast Forcite Helmets' facebook community Join thousands of motivated business owners in The Small Business Big Marketing Tribe on Facebook Interview with Gripsox founder Luke Goodwin   Services every business owner needs that Timbo recommends How to generate organic traffic to your website(without spending anything on advertising) High converting website designers(They built this website - take this simple quiz and see where yours needs improving) DIY SEO training - The most cost-effective way to get on page 1 of Google(20% off with discount code Timbo20) Proven customer attraction strategy(and ridiculously cheap) The Boomerang EffectTimbo's book on how and why to create helpful marketing    Businesses that made this podcast possible (please support them) DELL Technologies - Small business solutions Studio 1 Design - High converting website designers Fun Escapes - Proven customer attraction ideas Studio Hawk - DIY SEO training (discount code Timbo20 for 20% off)   Thanks for tuning in. Serial entrepreneur Wayne Hamlet's motto is 'Never, ever give up' | #598

In January 2021, COVID forced serial entrepreneur Wayne Hamlet’s event hire business into liquidation. Two months later, he declared bankruptcy, losing everything, and took a job as a real estate agent. Not one for giving up, Wayne launched an idea with huge potential. In fact, if you’re a business owner, then you need it. It’s as simple as that! It’s a ridiculously inspiring episode 598 of The (13 year-old, award-winning) Small Business Big Marketing podcast with host Timbo Reid.   A little more about Smile Fred’s Wayne Hamlet … If you’re a long time listener, you’ll know I tend not to interview owners of businesses in the start-up phase. There’s plenty of other podcasts doing that, plus I want to make sure you only get learnings from established business owners, who’ve got the runs on the board. However, today’s guest is in start-up mode. So why’d I break the rules? Because Wayne Hamlet’s story is super inspiring, and I actually want to give him a leg up.  He’s a serial entrepreneur who’s not afraid to have a crack. Unfortunately to date, after starting three businesses, his efforts have been rewarded with little more than experience. Making matters worse, in January 2021, COVID forced his event hire business into liquidation. Two months later, he declared bankruptcy, losing everything, and took a job as a real estate agent. Not one for giving up, at the age of 50, Wayne and his wife decided to roll the dice one more time and start Smile Fred, an online greeting card and gift box business that makes it ridiculously simple for you to send personalised cards and gifts within 5-minutes from wherever you are. An idea that every single one of us could use to show gratitude to our clients, suppliers, staff … anyone! Basically, it’s a business idea that makes the world a better place. By the way, this chat may contain a trigger for some of you, as Wayne’s business journey certainly hasn’t been all roses. Who’s has?! If you’re doing it tough, and don’t have anyone to download to, then please call Lifeline or your local mental wellbeing support service.  Now …  Instead of starting with Wayne answering a question, take a listen to the audio from this video that appears on Smile Fred’s website. It not only explains how Smile Fred works, but why it exists and a little bit of Wayne’s back story.   Services every business owner needs that Timbo recommends How to generate organic traffic to your website(without spending anything on advertising) High converting website designers(They built this website - take this simple quiz and see where yours needs improving) DIY SEO training - The most cost-effective way to get on page 1 of Google(20% off with discount code Timbo20) Proven customer attraction strategy(and ridiculously cheap) The Boomerang EffectTimbo's book on how and why to create helpful marketing   Businesses that made this podcast possible (please support them) DELL Technologies - Small business solutionsStudio 1 Design - High converting website designersFun Escapes - Proven customer attraction ideasStudio Hawk - DIY SEO training (discount code Timbo20 for 20% off)   Thanks for tuning in.
