You're doing keyword research wrong. Do this instead.

YouTube doesn't rank videos because you got the right keywords crammed into the right spaces. Doing so doesn't convince YouTube that your video is worth surfacing for anyone. They look at viewer signals instead. So instead of doing keyword research, we recommend you do topic research. What's topic research? How do you research your video ideas before hitting record so that you can make a fundamentally better video? Good questions! That's what we discuss in this episode. How one video's performance impacts your next video's performance

What's going on when you publish a video, it flops, and then your next videos after that flop, too? Does the performance of one video on your channel impact the next? Yes and no. There's two different ways to look at this phenomenon on YouTube. One way is an algorithmic perspective in terms of what YouTube's algorithm thinks about your next video based on the videos that were published before it. The second way is an audience perspective of how they behave with future content if you publish a video that doesn't connect with them. In this episode, we talk about both perspectives of this situation as well as many other questions you've submitted about hiring contractors on UpWork, recording voice overs, and when to update the metadata of older videos to breathe new life into them again. You CAN get YouTube viewers to your website without killing your channel. Try this.
