Megan McEvoy: Ice Skating and Fitness Journey, REMASTERED
In this episode of the Brawn Body Health and Fitness Podcast, Dan is joined by Megan McEvoy to discuss her journey of fitness and competitive ice skating. Megan was diagnosed with a rare respiratory condition, laryngeal papilomatosis, at a young age. This condition causes the growth of small papillomas in the airways and requires regular surgical removal. It currently has no cure. Megan is one of the highest functioning people with this condition. She has NEVER let her condition define her. She is not what has happened to her, but what she has chosen to become. *This episode previously released in December 2020, but has now been edited further to improve audio quality and listening experience.

Austin Jochum: Redefining the Purpose of Strength & Conditoning for Athletes
In this episode of the Brawn Body Health and Fitness Podcast, Dan is joined by Austin Jochum, CSCS to discuss his journey and experience in strength training and how he has altered his approach in training elite athletes for improved results.
Austin Jochum is the owner of Jochum Strength - he first dreamt up the Idea of Jochum Strength when he was 15 years old and was told he had herniated a disk in his back from squatting and that he wouldn't be able to move the same way again. Being a competitive athlete and wanting to reach the highest of levels of performance, he dove deep into the field of sports performance to see if this was true! Through years of research, self experimentation and lots of trial and errors he proved alot of what he was being told wrong. Not only was he able to perform all of the movements that he was told previously he couldn't, he became a Two-Sport Collegiate Captain, All-American and Conference Champion. When his athletic career ended he knew that he had to get the information he had learned from this journey out there to All Athletes and Movers, to show them there was a better way to train. A way that increased performance, focused on the person holistically, eliminated injuries and pain and leveled up who they were as humans. Since that point Austin has helped thousands of athletes and movers just like yourself level up their lives, move better, feel better, look better and get out of pain. Dr. Si Mi Pham: From Death and Destruction to Hope and Healing
In this episode of the Brawn Body Health and Fitness Podcast, Dan is joined by Dr. Si Mi Pham to discuss his personal life journey, starting when he was surrounded by death and destruction growing up to Vietnam to his current role as the Chair of the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery for the Mayo Clinic. Dr. Pham shares lessons he learned along his journey to inspire others facing challenging situations to continue to persevere and remember that you are NOT what has happened to you ... but what you choose to become in life.
Dr. Si Pham is Chair of the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery at the Mayo Clinic Florida and Professor of Surgery in the Mayo College of Medicine. He joined the Mayo staff in July 2017. Before joining Mayo Clinic, Dr. Pham had worked at 3 major University Medical Centers: University of Pittsburgh, University of Miami and University of Maryland. He received his medical degree from University of Pittsburgh, did his residency in General Surgery and Cardiothoracic Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. He is board-certified by: American Board of Thoracic Surgery; American Board of Surgery; Surgical Critical Care (from the American Board of Surgery) Dr. Pham has been in practice for more than 20 years and has experience in: Adult heart surgery, including heart valve surgery, coronary bypass surgery, aortic aneurysm surgery, heart and lung transplant, mechanical heart assist devices, & ECMO. He and his associates have published widely in the areas of cardiac and thoracic surgery in high impact medical journal. As a tribute to Dr. Pham's dedication to excellent patient care, he was awarded the Health Care Hero Award by the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce in 2007. Dr. Pham is active in medical research, mentoring medical students, resident and fellows.

Dr. James Dreese & Dr. Tim Stone: A Deep Dive into ACL Tears, Surgery, and Rehab

James Dreese, MD, is an orthopaedic surgeon, fellowship-trained in sports medicine. He is double-board certified in Orthopedic Surgery and Orthopedic Sports Medicine. He serves as associate director of Union Memorial Sports Medicine and as research director for the MedStar Sports Medicine Orthopaedic Sports Medicine Fellowship. He was recently elected to serve as one of two delegates from the state of Maryland on the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine Council of Delegates. He has served as editor-in-chief for the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and has been appointed to numerous regional and national leadership committees in Orthopedic Sports Medicine. He is actively involved in sports medicine research, and has published numerous articles and book chapters. Dr. Dreese is an associate team physician for the Baltimore Ravens. He serves as one of two delegates from the state of Maryland to the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine. He has been named numerous times to U.S. News and World Report's Top Doctors for Sports Medicine and Castle Connolly's Top Doctor Baltimore Edition. In 2021, Baltimore magazine named him a Top Doctor in Orthopaedic Sports Medicine.
