5 Benefits Focus Brings to Your Life and Work

[[:encoded, "Do you multi-task? Do you know that those who multi-task are not as effective or as efficient as those who focus their efforts on one task at a time? It’s true. When you divide your efforts and your thoughts among different and differing tasks, you are doing a disservice to yourself and to the tasks you’re attempting to finish. \n\nWhen you’re focused, you are honing in on the completion of one task. Focus helps you give all your attention to the project in front of you. Focus also helps you complete more projects rather than having multiple projects in various stages of completion. You will feel better, happier and more motivated to work on the next task when you can cross one off your current to-do list. \n\nLet’s explore five benefits that focus will bring to your work and your life. \n\n1.\tYour stress levels will plummet. When you’re focusing on more than one task at a time you will feel overwhelmed. Lack of focus makes you feel as though you have too much to do and not enough time to do it. In fact, you probably don’t have as much on your plate as you imagine, you just have too many things on your plate in various stages of completion, but you’re not checking anything off your to-do list. It’s the multiple incomplete projects that add to your stress and to your feeling of overwhelm. Focus will enhance your clarity and that will let you clearly see the path ahead and allows you to focus your efforts toward making great progress. When you’re not focused you likely feel unmotivated, frustrated and more stressed! \n\n2.\tFocus enhances momentum. When you see that you’re completing items and checking them off the to-do list, you feel more motivated to keep up that forward momentum. Making progress is motivating. Seeing progress encourages you to work harder. The snowball effect of making progress is motivating! \n\n3.\tYou will be more engaged. If you have a vested interest in completing a specific project you will be more engaged in it. Chances are you’re not afraid of hard work, but you are fearful or tired of feeling overwhelmed. When you’re overwhelmed, you feel as though “nothing, or not much, is getting done” and that is not motivating. When you’re on a winning team – even if you’re the only one on the team! – you are more engaged in the outcome and the steps to get you there. \n\n4.\tFocus helps you feel in control. When you’re focused, you are in control of the tasks in front of you and in the steps to achieve the goal. Effective Communication That Gets Results

[[:encoded, "“Don’t communicate to be understood; rather, communicate so as not to be misunderstood” said Dr. John Lund, a well-known author and researcher in the field of human relationships – specifically in the area of communication. This subtle distinction is incredibly important, because it puts the responsibility of understanding on the shoulders of the communicator, not the audience. If you want to communicate with your team and your clients in a way that gets the results you want, you must speak with them in a way that they receive information best, and anticipate their thoughts and needs before you ever enter into a conversation with them.\n\nMost people enter into a conversation that you are about to have with them wondering:\n\n•\tWhat do they want from me?\n•\tHow long is this going to take?\n•\tDo I care about what they are saying to me?\n•\tHow is what they are saying going to help or benefit me?\n\nIf you are speaking with employees, they may also be thinking:\n\n•\tAm I in trouble; have I done something wrong?\n•\tIs my workload going to be made heavier?\n•\tI have work to finish before I can go home - how long will this take?\n\nIf you can find a way to manage conversation expectations from the very beginning, the chances of the person you are speaking to actually listening to what you have to say and engaging with you goes up exponentially.\n\nClearly State Your Purpose\n\nBefore you get into the meat of the conversation with a client or employee, it is best to come right out and address what the conversation is about and also address any of the previously mentioned questions they may be thinking. This could look like:\n\n“Hello (client name), I wanted to talk to you about (state your purpose or conversation goal) – it should only take about fifteen minutes and I really think that it will benefit you personally/your business/your bottom line/etc.” In just a few short words, you have clearly outlined what you expect to discuss with them, you have offered them an idea of how long you expect the discussion to take, and you have outlined a glimpse of how you think the conversation topic will benefit or affect them. \n\nIf you need to speak with an employee about a disciplinary issue, for example, you could say, “Hello (employee name); I need to discuss (state the infraction) with you; it should only take a few minutes, and while I am disappointed to have to address this with you, I value you as an employee and think we can work through this quickly toUnlock a blueprint to creating and having your ideal business and ideal life by scheduling your free consultation with me today! How to Reduce Distractions and Interruptions

[[:encoded, "Putting in a full, productive workday is sometimes easier said than done. Despite the best of intentions, some days can just seem to get away from you – turning into emergency response days or employee management days that – although necessary to keep things running smoothly – nevertheless take away from the precious time you have available to complete what is on your to-do list. \n\nUnmanaged distractions can slowly chip away at your ability to focus on necessary, high payoff activities that move your business toward success. In some cases, those distractions can actually lead to calculation errors or financial errors that cost you big time in the long run. If you find yourself continually interrupted by people or your own thoughts, it can also take a toll on your overall attitude and even your mental state at the office. The bottom line is: if you always feel unsettled and anxious about getting interrupted, it will keep you from doing your best work. \n\nSo, how can you reduce distractions and avoid interruptions? Is it even possible to create a work environment that is productive and avoids emergencies altogether? \n\nSet Your Team and Your Schedule Up for Success\n\nWhile it is virtually impossible to eliminate all of the last-minute issues that crop up during the week (you are after all a business owner with a busy schedule and a company to run, and if issues arise you need to be the one with the last word on how they are handled), it is definitely possible to structure your business in such a way as to significantly reduce the amount of times you are pulled away from productive tasks to focus on something unplanned. \n\nTo improve your workplace schedule and eliminate distractions and interruptions, try implementing one or more of these 4 proven productivity tips I’m going to share with you now:\n\n1.\tSchedule your day in blocks of 60-90 minutes at a time whenever possible. This allows you to focus on specific big-picture tasks without being distracted, since there are consistent breaks in your day between these blocks where you can get refocused on the next activities by fully closing out the previous activity. For shorter tasks, consider 10-15-minute sprints, where you can knock out several quick but vital tasks (answering emails, returning client calls, and more) without fear of interruptions. Scheduling meetings with the team is a time block that can take 10-30 minutes, so nobody interrupts anyone with things that can be handled in a schedulUnlock a blueprint to creating and having your ideal business and ideal life by scheduling your free consultation with me today! 6 Ways to Stick to Your Goals

[[:encoded, "Sticking to your goals is not always easy. It can be very tempting to give up and stay where you are… but this is not what you really want for yourself! Part of setting worthwhile goals and sticking to them is that this process allows you to grow as a person. If you give up and go back to the way you were before, then you are not going to have the peace of mind and confidence that comes from KNOWING that you can achieve your true potential in life!\n\nMaybe your goals are business related, or maybe they are personal. Regardless of what they are, they MUST be important to you…so why give up on them? Life is what you make of it, and achieving goals is one way to shape your life on YOUR terms. Your dreams are something that nobody can take from you, which is why sticking to them is SO important!\n\nThe 6 tips for helping you to stick to your goals that I’m about to review with you are simple to understand, and they can help you with even the most complex goals that might be in your game plan! \n\n1… Find a Solution\nThe first key to sticking with your goals is to find a solution whenever a problem or an obstacle presents itself. It can be very tempting to give up when faced with obstacles, but what you NEED to remember is that obstacles are a part of life. You may never have a goal that does not lead you through some challenges before you see it through. Having the strength of mind that it takes to find a solution, regardless of how big the problem is, is exactly what you need if you want to stay focused, so you don’t give up. \n\n2… Anticipate Problems\nTry to think ahead to problems that could arise as you pursue your goals. Getting blindsided by a problem is always worse than dealing with a problem that you saw coming, which is why learning to anticipate is going to be very helpful if you want to avoid the discouragement that comes from being pelted with problems that appeared out of nowhere. Learn to look ahead and plan for problems that may or may not come your way. \n\nOne method that works great for this is to sit down and list all of the possible obstacles that you might face as you achieve that goal. For every goal that you set, take some time to brainstorm where things could go wrong as you pursue it. Think about how setbacks could occur, and think about what problems they would cause you. If you have done your best to brainstorm any potential setbacks BEFOREHAND, then you will not be as surprised when a few problems do come up, and you will havUnlock a blueprint to creating and having your ideal business and ideal life by scheduling your free consultation with me today! How to Stay Focused on Results and Increase Your Success

[[:encoded, "Seeing the light at the end of the tunnel of a work goal can be difficult. Motivation is high in the beginning of a project, and then seems to taper off as time goes on. However, there are techniques that can be employed to be able to stay on course. Being results-driven provides a clear path of the direction you need to go in order to achieve them. Let’s explore 8 techniques to help you stay focused on getting the results you want.\n\n1. Proper Planning for Results\nCreate a detailed action plan for achieving the results you desire before you lose focus. Planning your daily, weekly and monthly objectives around the end results, makes you more efficient and productive. This means writing down exactly what you want to achieve and the means to get there. Make sure the results, and the plan to get there, are specific and include weekly or monthly targets. Then your daily tasks, such as phone calls, emails, and projects should center around the results.\n\n2. Perform a SWOT Analysis\nPart of getting to those desired results is realizing what challenges you will be up against. Performing a SWOT analysis of strengths, weakness, opportunities, and threats should be a part of your strategic plan. It will give you an idea of your weaknesses and the challenges that might be coming down the road, so you can prepare for them. This will keep you from falling off track. \n\n3. A Mission Statement\nYour company most likely has a mission statement. If not, you need one. But what about you? A mission statement will help steer your time and efforts toward those results. You can start by asking yourself how you will conduct your day differently with those results in mind. Your individual mission statement should be about 4-5 sentences and visible to you every day, so you don’t forget what you are after. When you lose focus, go back to the mission statement for re-centering. \n\n4. Create Milestones\nLong-term results can be difficult to remain focused on. Break that end-goal up into smaller pieces, so you don’t lose motivation. A set of milestones will help you move toward those results while keeping you on track. The milestones can be set daily, weekly or monthly, depending on the scope of your project. Smaller goals are more reasonable to achieve than one big goal and will force you to check on your progress more often. You can even set the same activities every week to review your progress, which I strongly recommend you do. \n\n5. Prioritize\nNUnlock a blueprint to creating and having your ideal business and ideal life by scheduling your free consultation with me today! Want more proven business success tips and resources? 3 Efficiency Actions and Behaviors to Increase Your Success

[[:encoded, "Running a business is a lot like a Nascar race. There are large amounts of sustained momentum coupled with dedicated adjustment or growth times. In a race, the efficiency of the pit crew can often make or break a driver’s race position, and those team members have their processes down to split seconds of perfectly timed precision. Likewise, businesses often have areas within their own workflow that need to be executed with efficient action, otherwise they run the risk of causing slowdowns and missing big opportunities.\n\n“Well-oiled or finely tuned, a business must work and keep working for both owners and consumers alike. Unfortunately, inefficiency is a reality. It comes in a variety of flavors that can cost businesses up to 30 percent of their revenue each year. Inefficiency can pop up in many places. You might find redundant processes, important but hard-to-find information, or out-of-date procedures.” Source: Entrepreneur.com\n\nSo, how do you identify areas in your business that need to be revitalized to increase your efficiency and overall productivity? Try these three ideas I’m about to share with you.\n\n1. Take Risks and Try New Things\n\nIf you suspect that something is not working as efficiently as it could, you may need to try something new to see if it will work better. No one solution works for everyone, and sometimes the best way to ascertain if a new process, system, or action will help you or your team perform better is to give it a try for a few weeks or months. For example, if you feel like email is a consistent stumbling block that ties up too much of your time each week, consider using your assistant or a virtual assistant (VA) whose sole task is to manage client communications, thus freeing you up to tackle higher-level tasks that you and only you can handle. \n\nAre meetings bogging down your team’s productivity? You may want to try moving communications over to Slack or Asana, so everyone can stay on the same page for the things relevant to their workflow, and they can stay out of things that do not require their time or attention. It may take some time before the new processes you put in place begin to gain momentum and produce your desired efficiency outcomes, but if you never take the leap and try something new, you will never know what you may be missing out on. That new process or action could streamline your workflow and free up precious minutes or hours that can then be spent on what really matters to your company’s viUnlock a blueprint to creating and having your ideal business and ideal life by scheduling your free consultation with me today!
