71. Andre Norman: Spending 14 Years in Prison to Changing the World

“I know people in the world today who aren’t free. They’re slaves to work, they’re slaves to stereotypes and slaves to cultures and customs they don’t even believe in. Not being in jail does not mean you are free.” This week’s guest is proof that your past doesn’t have to equal your future. You can drop the old stories, change your core beliefs, and create a life you love - even if your past says otherwise.Rewind two decades and not only was Andre serving a 100-year prison sentence, he also ran all the gang activity in the prison. You could say it was his destiny. As a kid, he felt unwanted. He felt disconnected and left out. In turn, he never saw his potential and instead followed a life fuelled by drugs, alcohol, depression, self-harming, and ultimately crime. But as is the case with many people, once he hit rock bottom he was able to turn his life around. It was during a period of solitary confinement that Andre eventually pulled the metaphorical parachute for help. His epiphany inspired him to do the work, and after serving just 14 years, he was free. But more than claiming his physical liberty, Andre also reclaimed his mind to take back full control of his life. Now, Andre’s life is one of impact and giving back. His mission is teaching individuals and corporations how to turn any situation around. His innovative strategies against gang activity and inmate manipulation have also improved correctional facilities across the U.S. He’s an all-round inspirational dude with an impactful and powerful story to share. Can’t wait for you to hear it.“Everything that takes you down helps you come up.”Andre is the man! I was so inspired to discover the strategies and mindsets that enabled him to turn his life around in the most extraordinary way. So tune in now and hear us talk about:How gratitude for rock bottom experiences helps you walk the extraordinary path through lifeThe real definition of freedom - and why most people aren’t as free as they thinkWhy you need to take small steps today to actualize the person you want to be in the futureThe insanely valuable lessons he’d teach his 26-year-old selfWhy Andre believes it’s his curses that allow him to help peopleThe only way to failPrison rarely changes people at such a profoundly core level. Instead, it compounds their anger, frustration, and trauma. But for Andre, it was the turning point that set him on the path of extraordinary. So if you’re stuck with an old way of being that doesn’t serve you, check out this podcast for proof that total and absolute transformation IS possible -- if that’s what you really want.“If you want to be great, you can. 69. Lee Holden: How to Become Superhuman

“There is a way in which we can ask good questions, and I think that is the bridge I often use to help people discover these latent powers within themselves and their own human potential.” What do you do if you feel pain in your body? If you’re like a lot of people, then your instinct will be to reach for the painkillers. But what if that’s not the right thing to do?Our western culture is very cerebral. We spend a lot of time in our heads, while ignoring the calling of our body. It can be hard to express emotions and even more difficult to process them. As a result, we experience a lot of dis-ease.Today’s guest has a different approach. After a back injury while playing college football, Lee Holden was told he’d be out for the rest of the season. He took pain medication, but when the pills affected his digestion he sought a different route for healing. To his surprise, acupuncture made him better after just a few weeks and he was back in the team faster than anyone predicted. This profound healing experience reignited Lee’s passion for understanding energy and inspired him to practice Qi Gong.Qi Gong is a mind, body, spirit practice that helps us reconnect with our life force by opening the flow of the energy meridians. Through a combination of posture, movement, breathing, sound, and focus, Qi Gong can help us deal with stress and dis-ease. Lee has practiced Qi Gong for over 25 years and helped over 10,000 students feel less stressed and more energetic. Working with the energy of the ‘three treasures’ (the mind, body, and heart), Lee’s work empowers people to live their happiest, most vibrant, most fulfilled lives. You’ll find out how in this episode.“If we can start to work with the energy of the mind — the chi of the mind — in visualising the way we want to be in our health and vitality or the way we want our lives to go, we can start to have a dramatic impact in a positive direction.” Lee’s also passionate about exploring how energy awareness can unlock human - even superhuman potential. It’s the subject of his new movie and something we discuss in this episode too. Wait until you hear how some of the masters are shattering our perception of what’s possible. It will blow your mind!Lee’s wisdom and insight about energy left me super curious to discover and explore more and I’m certain you’ll feel the same way. Check out what we cover in this deep-dive conversation:The layman’s guide to Qi GongWhy your mind includes more than your brainWhy the thoughts you have aren’t even yoursHow Lee’s passion for human potential is being explored in the new Superhuman MovieStories of exceptional people who are achieving the impossibleThe importance of seeking the truth insideYou’ll also get to experience your Qi first-hand. That’s because Lee shares a super simple energy generating exercise that will allow you to feel the electricity that runs through your fingers. (It’s incredible). You are so much more than you think. Tap into your energy and you get to experience a whole new way of living. So dive into this beautiful episode and gift yourself an introduction to energy that will inspire you to dig deeper and explore further. Can’t wait to hear your feedback.“If you are focusing on what you don’t want, you are putting energy into it. 67. Todd Herman: Using Alter Egos To Experience The Life You Want

“An alter ego gives you an amazing tool to tap into the creative imagination to allow you to unfold and see more of what you’re capable of.”This episode’s guest is an absolute rockstar. I picked up his new book a few weeks back and finished it within 2 days - which should be telling for the greatness that was shared here.Mr Todd Herman is a peak performance coach and serial entrepreneur who’s been mentoring elite performers in the world of sport and business for over 20 years. Through his treasure box of tools and philosophies, Todd is known for helping people achieve their most ambitious goals. And in this episode, you’ll discover one of his most powerful techniques - so you can use it for yourself. The technique I’m referring to is the use of an “alter ego”, which comes from Todd’s new book - The Alter Ego Effect.Alter egos are the “other you”. They are characters (or identities) you can ‘activate’ to demonstrate the mindsets, beliefs, and practices that enable you to take the actions required to achieve your goals. In this way, alter egos are a tool that give you enough confidence to overcome resistance and get momentum going. It’s how they can help you achieve really hard things. So if you know that there’s more in your tank and you get frustrated because willpower isn’t enough to take you over the threshold, you definitely want to listen to this episode.Understand the superhero effect of alter egos and you’ll empower yourself to achieve your most ambitious goals.“An alter ego for many people is often there to help you get past that initial resistance you may be having around pursuing something that’s new.”In this episode you’ll discover:What becomes possible for you and your life when you play with your alter egosHow ‘activating’ alter egos connects you with the same creative imagination that makes children believe they can be supermanWhy it’s healthier and more advantageous to be able to access multiple ‘selves’ rather than stick with a single identityHow Todd used an alter ego to manage his daughter’s tantrums (this is a must-hear technique for any parent!)The relationship between your ‘trapped self’ and your ‘heroic self’ (and how your alter egos help you shift from one to the other)What I loved most about this interview is the notion that the person you want to be is already inside.Todd explains that you’re not broken and you don’t need to be fixed. Instead, you simply need to chisel away at all the ‘stuff’ that isn’t you. That’s what alter egos will help you achieve and why it’s an essential tool for living an extraordinary life.So listen in now.For a deeper dive on this concept - grab yourself a copy of the The Alter Ego Effect too. I’ve read it, it’s incredible, and I’m sure you’ll love it too.“There is no one definition of who you are. You are the one who gets to decide who and what you are. Most people are simply walking around allowing other people to define who they are.”How to contact and connect with ToddYou can grab a copy of Todd’s book on AmazonFor more details of his work, visit toddherman.meAnd to follow Todd on social, check out:https://twitter.com/todd_hermanhttps://www.facebook.com/toddhermanconnect/https://www.instagram.com/todd_herman/One last thing… We thrive on your feedback, so if you’ve enjoyed this show, please rate us and leave us a review. 62. Mike Kemski: Transforming Pain Into Your Biggest Asset

“All the stuff from my past became my biggest asset — not my biggest enemy — and that really empowered me to keep moving forward.”Mike Kemski wasn’t raised with a lot of love as a child. Instead, he was repeatedly told that he was worthless and would amount to anything. Thanks to these repeated messages, which were reinforced by his home environment, he began to believe those words were true.As a result, Mike got into all sorts of trouble as a kid. He turned to violence, alcohol, and drugs to escape the pain until, aged 16, he was full of anger and consumed with low self-esteem and self image.Eventually, he checked himself into rehab and things started to change. But that wasn’t yet the final turning point. After cleaning up and getting sober, Mike still didn’t feel happy. Instead, he felt an empty void inside. He just couldn’t figure out how to make life work for him.
