Ron has helped millions around the world thrive through a journey of self-mastery over the last 25 years. He is someone I personally look up to for emotional guidance, and with good reason. When I first met Ron, what drew me to him was his passion for leveraging self-awareness to create a more fulfilling life. 63. Marla Mattenson: How A Healthy Relationship Fuels Entrepreneurial Success

“This is our mission: All couples on the planet will use their relationship as the vehicle for their own personal transformation.”You may be familiar with the name of this month’s guest. That’s because I interviewed Marla’s romantic partner - Julian Colker - way back on episode 33 of the Stay Grounded Podcast. As an entrepreneurial power couple the story is only complete when you interview both halves, so I couldn’t wait to go down the rabbit hole with Marla.Marla is a relationship & intimacy expert who specializes in coaching entrepreneurial couples. If you’re in a relationship with another entrepreneur (or someone with an entrepreneur mindset) you’ll understand the specific challenges and opportunities that arise from this union. Fuelled by risk-taking, a growth mindset, and a desire to put yourself ‘out there’, entrepreneurial couples can struggle to create work-life harmony and create quality space for each other. But use your relationship as a mirror to fuel radical self-awareness, and you can both fly higher. It’s what Marla helps couples achieve together.“I am in charge of me. Nobody can shift my balance of my mind, except me.”I took so much away from this episode. Marla oozes with passion and enthusiasm for her work and is overflowing with practical ideas and suggestions that you can start using with your partner today. From the Mirror Tactic, to the importance of being unapologetically kind, to the power of presence, and the 1-10 test, this episode will equip you with practical things that will help you create more intimacy and connection at home. When you’re an entrepreneur with a mission and passionate about making your business thrive, it can be hard to create the same levels of success in your relationship. But as Marla reminds us, how you do one thing is how you do everything. And if you’re settling in your love life, you’re likely leaving entrepreneurial success on the table too.So tune in and learn some relationship wisdom from a specialist with over 23 years experience who’s helped over 12,000 couples, including Academy Award winning actors, producers and directors, NBA players and coaches, Grammy Award winning artists, and millionaire entrepreneurs. Her insights and strategies could change everything for you, the same way it did for me.“You have to listen, but listen in a particular way because we can listen with judgment or we can with curiosity.”How to contactCheck out Marla’s work - www.marlamattenson.comFollow Marla on Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/mmattenson/Stay up-to-date on Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/theintimacyexpertsTweet Marla - https://twitter.com/MarlaMattensonConnect with Marla on LinkedIn - https://www.linkedin.com/in/marla-mattenson-08613195/ We thrive on your feedback, so if you’ve enjoyed this show, please rate us and leave us a review. 62. Mike Kemski: Transforming Pain Into Your Biggest Asset

“All the stuff from my past became my biggest asset — not my biggest enemy — and that really empowered me to keep moving forward.”Mike Kemski wasn’t raised with a lot of love as a child. Instead, he was repeatedly told that he was worthless and would amount to anything. Thanks to these repeated messages, which were reinforced by his home environment, he began to believe those words were true.As a result, Mike got into all sorts of trouble as a kid. He turned to violence, alcohol, and drugs to escape the pain until, aged 16, he was full of anger and consumed with low self-esteem and self image.Eventually, he checked himself into rehab and things started to change. But that wasn’t yet the final turning point. After cleaning up and getting sober, Mike still didn’t feel happy. Instead, he felt an empty void inside. He just couldn’t figure out how to make life work for him. Instead, every day was painful, meaningless, and difficult. So he put a loaded gun into his mouth. But instead of ending it all, the gun misfired giving Mike a fresh chance at life.Which he’s now turned around into his own version of extraordinary.“If you feel it in your heart, that’s the thing to follow. Always. Not what everyone else says you should and shouldn’t want. That’s ridiculous.”Mike Kemski is a bit of an enigma! You won’t find much about him online, but that’s by design.Mike is a ninja who teaches what he himself has figured out through living life.At the age of 17, he realized you could change the way you feel simply by changing your facial expression or body languageHe’s developed insane levels of self awareness by spending years analyzing every thought and feeling - so he could understand the messages from his bodyHe discovered that amplifying pain is a fast-track to success because it increases your desire for changeAnd he figured out how to use energy and attention to change your thinking and transform the way you feel about yourselfMike is a legend and this is one episode you do NOT want to miss.As well as the full story of Mike’s dance with death, you’ll also discover three powerful analogies that are going to help you win in life. What’s really in the pot of gold at the end of the rainbowThe marathon example that explains the three phases of successWhy we retreat to ‘dark caves’ - and how you can bring yourself back to the lightThis episode is a doozy. It’s inspiring as well as informative and there’s a good chance that after listening, your life won’t be the same again.“Things need to go wrong. That’s what gives us the engagement to solve puzzles and stay engaged with life.”How to contactTo discover Mike’s full story, visit www.banabu.com/mikestory.htmlSee what Mike is up to at http://mikekemski.com/Follow Mike on Facebook at www.facebook.com/mikekemskiWe thrive on your feedback, so if you’ve enjoyed this show, please rate us and leave us a review. 61. Josh Stuart: Using Ancient Wisdom To Thrive In a Modern World

“I don’t believe anything that happens is by chance. Every person that comes across our path, whether we like the interaction or not, it’s all for a purpose.”If you recognize today’s guest from the TV, you’d be right! That’s because in this episode I’m interviewing no other than Josh Stuart from the Discovery Channel Reality TV show, ‘Diesel Brothers.’Josh, otherwise known as ‘Redbeard’ is one of the most grounded people I know, and after chatting to him, it’s easy to see why. Josh grew up in Roosevelt, UT in the Uintah Basin which is part of a native American Indian reservation. It meant from an early age, Josh was introduced to the idea of connection between all things. He was raised on the idea that nature offers messages from the universe and if you’re alert enough, you can see the signs.Josh finally got back on the spiritual path around five years ago after meeting his wife. Now, he lives his life in deep connection with the energies all around us. Unsurprisingly, it’s a core topic in this episode. So if you’re curious to discover more about how the universe talks with us, listen in now.Josh is someone I couldn’t wait to go down the rabbit hole with - and I wasn’t disappointed! The conversation we had was beautiful, thought-provoking, and deep. And you get to be a fly on the wall when you tune in now.“I believe that we all chose to be here and chose our challenges because we knew that those challenges would create certain strengths in us.”This conversation is more than a discovery of Josh’s life, it’s also a deep dive into a beautiful philosophy about living.I found some of Josh’s distinctions incredibly powerful. For example, Josh believes that everything in life happens FOR you, not TO you. He believes that our souls choose our particular path though life in order to acquire certain lessons and experiences. With this perspective, he’s able to ride every wave that comes - the good and the bad.We chat about Josh’s love of jujitsu and how a dedication to his practice allows him to navigate everyday life with more grace and discipline. We talk about gratitude and we talk about the power of money and what wealth is actually about. This episode will open you up to a new way of thinking about challenges, desires, and everyday moments. It’s a story about creating extraordinary by becoming increasingly aware. And in this age when we’re nose deep in our phones, I think Josh’s message is especially potent. Can’t wait to see what you think.“Life is telling us exactly what to do, if we just pay attention.”How to contact Joshwww.DieselPowerGear.comFacebook: @redbearddieselFollow Josh on Instagram: @red.beardCheck out Josh’s TV show - www.discovery.com/tv-shows/diesel-brothers/  Hosted on Acast. 59. Kristen Berman: Change Your Environment, Change Your Life

“We can learn so much about our flaws, our rationalities, our biases, but overcoming them in real time is not possible.”The personal development industry hinges on the need for us to “change our mindset” so we can create permanent change in our lives. It’s good advice. After all, the way we think and the things we believe fuel our decisions and our behaviors. But change is hard.If you’ve ever tried to start a business, lose weight, save money (or do anything that’s outside your normal, everyday life), you’ll know how difficult it can be. Everything from resistance, to laziness, to a lack of motivation seem to hold us back.If only there was an easier way. If only we could ‘hack’ our way to the desirable behaviors that take us closer to our goals...Turns out there is.And in this week’s guest, Kristen Berman, shows us how.Kristen Berman studies how people actually act in the marketplace, as opposed to how they should or would perform if they were completely rational.Kristen co-founded Irrational Labs, a behavioral product design company, with Dan Ariely in 2013. Irrational Labs helps companies and nonprofits understand and leverage behavioral economics to increase the health, wealth and happiness of their users.“If you’re feeling motivated to learn a new skill, go online and hire a tutor. Lock yourself into that increased motivation because in an hour, two hours or four hours, you may not have that motivation.”This week’s episode is another doozy :)Whether you’re looking to do something outside your comfort zone or you’re committed to achieving a challenging goal, you NEED to listen in.And yes, I do say NEED.We’re not here to settle for less that the things we want.Instead, we’re here to walk the extraordinary path through life. We’re here to have our cake and eat it too. And thanks to Kristen’s knowledge and strategies, you’ll discover how you really can have it all.Because as soon as you learn to hack your behaviors and turn on the ones you need at will, you can do anything. So listen in now. You’ll learn about motivation, how to spark it, and how to use it.You’ll discover the real reasons we do what we do (hint! It’s not what you think)! And most importantly, you’ll discover how to leverage your most powerful weapon in your ‘getting it done’ arsenal. But you’ll have to listen in to discover what it is!“I prefer the word 'curiosity' to 'passion.' Passion proclaims that it’s permanent and has a lot of weight versus curiosity, which is an open door that we can go through.”How to contactFollow Kristen on Twitter at https://twitter.com/bermsterLearn more about the behavioral economics work that Kristen does at https://irrationallabs.org/We thrive on your feedback, so if you’ve enjoyed this show, please rate us and leave us a review. 58. Dan Clark: Persisting Through Passion and Fuelling a Life You Love

This week’s guest ended up becoming the CEO of a tech company that he first discovered as a user.Dan Clark was one of Brain.fm’s very first users. If you’re not familiar with Brain.fm, it’s a tool that maximizes productivity through music that boosts focus and gets you into your flow state with ease. It’s a tool I use (and recommend) and something I describe as ‘audio adderall’!I first went down the rabbit hole with Dan in a bar in New York City. We were supposed to be watching the Texas game, but instead had a four-hour conversation about life, passion, and persistence. It was so inspiring for me that I couldn’t wait to get Dan on the show so you could get a taste of his wisdom. He’s another incredible example of someone who’s living a passionate life by doing things that convention says shouldn’t be possible. So take a listen to his episode now and discover the full story behind his journey with Brain.FM, why he started out for free, and the 12 persistent phone calls that kick-started it all. You’ll also discover Dan’s personal take on productivity, giving, and why he loves to travel, cook, and do adventurous things (such as deciding to step foot on all seven continents). It’s a doozy of an episode to kick-start your 2019 and I know you’re going to take a ton away. “Humans are the only creatures that can instill habits in themselves. So start really small, work on something, accomplish it and then do something a little bit bigger.”One of the things I love most about this episode is Dan’s commitment to doing work that he loves.[You have to be pretty passionate to work for someone for free, right?]But as you’ll discover, this is an empowering and inspiring approach to life. Dan and I share a similar set of beliefs - that you’re here on earth for a limited amount of time and so you’d better make the most of that time. You better create ‘the biggest splash possible’.Want to inject some of this philosophy into your New Year plans? Then tune into this episode of the Stay Grounded Podcast to discover ideas, strategies, and daily practices that will help you be your best self and do more with your time in the months ahead. Can’t wait to hear your takeaways.“Gratitude provides the foundation, curiosity is the skyscraper.
