76. Logan Christopher: Using Time in Nature to Fuel an Extraordinary Life

“You have certain mentors that are human beings. Why keep it to one species? You can learn things you can never learn from any human from talking to a tree or a mushroom or a plant.” Drum roll please because this episode is a Stay Grounded first! That’s because it’s the very first time I’ve brought an old guest back into the interview chair. You may remember Logan ‘strongman’ Christopher from episode 35 when he revealed how an experience in the Amazon changed his life. Well, things have moved on since then. Logan has jumped much deeper into his connection with nature. In fact, he now describes himself as an emissary of nature - someone who communicates deeply with the wildlife, plants, and landscapes around him. At the surface level, this may sound a bit crazy, but hear Logan speak and I guarantee you’ll never look at nature through the same lens again. This episode is a beautiful opportunity to expand your definition of self. It’s a chance to explore how you can open up different parts of your being and it’s a moment to discover how working with nature leaves you feeling whole. It’s a doozy :-)“Churches are often built with this awe-inspiring look to them that can help us reach that transcendental state. Nature is much the same. A grove of trees is in some ways very similar to a church.” In this beautiful conversation, Logan shares what’s possible when we reconnect with nature. Here in the West we’re very brain-centric. We see thinking as the pinnacle of the human experience and it’s cut us off from nature. But at what cost?Logan believes strengthening our relationship with nature can positively affect us in many profound ways. It can lower stress levels, help us think more creatively, and boost our health and wellbeing - to name just a dew benefits. In this episode we discuss why:You need to slow down to speed up [yes, it feels counter-intuitive]Immersing in the complexity of nature allows us to see past our linear human experienceTransforming our relationship with food can transform our health and dietWe’ve totally underestimated the heart and what its real function isTalking with nature allows you to download insights and understanding about lifeAnd soooooo much more.Logan believes if we only look to learn from other humans, we’re limiting our ability to understand the world. Nature is a powerful teacher [if we let it] and in this episode you’ll discover how and why.So take some time to soak up Logan’s wisdom. He’ll leave you thinking in a whole new direction.“Being able to look at nature in awe I think is a powerful thing and something that, if people did it more often, it would serve them well.” How to contact Check out Logan’s new book, Powered By Nature at https://poweredbynaturebook.com. Not only will your purchase include a free gift card, but you’ll save 2 acres of Peruvian rainforest too (that’s approximately 400 trees). We thrive on your feedback, so if you’ve enjoyed this show, please rate us and leave us a review. 73. Aimee Tariq: How Near Death Experiences Can Be Your Greatest Teacher

“I was not scared of the illness itself. I thought, "This is just something that’s happening. It’s not going to be permanent. Either I’ll die or get better — those are the only two options I’m going to give myself."” When Aimme’s heart raced to 200bpm - even when she wasn’t doing anything - she knew there was something seriously wrong. At the time, the medical community didn’t even have a name for Aimee’s chronic condition - but that turned out to be a blessing.Aimee’s condition left her drained and debilitated. It was so severe she couldn’t even brush her teeth by herself. Aimee didn’t want to live like this. It wasn’t OK for her; so she made a choice. She knew she’d either die or get better.Turned out, life wanted the latter for her. When you’re not boxed in with a label or a specific diagnosis, you’re more able to tune into your own intuition. It’s what Aimee did. She removed toxins from her life, started eating organic, and invested in alternative therapies. The results were astounding. Aimee went from being able to do nothing, to becoming a best-selling author and health optimization consultant who’s currently exploring a variety of exciting projects.“I never limit myself by telling myself who I am. I just tell myself who I want to be.” Nowadays, Aimee teaches professionals how to optimize their productivity, energy, and ability to focus by controlling their physical and emotional wellbeing.I found Aimee’s story so inspiring. It takes incredible courage to cultivate a mindset and willingness to heal yourself - but that’s exactly what Aimee’s been able to do.And in this episode, she reveals how. So tune in now and discover:Why a dream about her grandpa made her realize death can be beautiful - not something to fearWhy Aimee believes who we are can change everydayThe importance of empathy for business (and life) and a surprising way to cultivate this abilityWhy fear isn’t irrational - and how you can use fear signals to live betterThe reason you feel better when you’re able to shift someone else’s emotionsAnd so much more :)Aimee is an inspiration - not just because of how she navigated her way back from a health rock bottom, but because of her willingness to grow through everything. She’s an example how life often gives you what you want (in a roundabout way). Listen to the end and you’ll see why her illness actually led to the work she wanted to do back in her teens.“I view life as a learning experience. We’re here to learn as much as we can before we pass on to the next learning experience.”How to contact AimeeCheck out Aimee’s work here - www.aimeetariq.com/Follow @AimeeTariq on Facebook, Instagram, TwitterLike Aimee’s Facebook Page - www.facebook.com/itsAimeeTariq/And join her Facebook Group here - www.facebook.com/groups/1924327701134218/We thrive on your feedback, so if you’ve enjoyed this show, please rate us and leave us a review. 69. Lee Holden: How to Become Superhuman

“There is a way in which we can ask good questions, and I think that is the bridge I often use to help people discover these latent powers within themselves and their own human potential.” What do you do if you feel pain in your body? If you’re like a lot of people, then your instinct will be to reach for the painkillers. But what if that’s not the right thing to do?Our western culture is very cerebral. We spend a lot of time in our heads, while ignoring the calling of our body. It can be hard to express emotions and even more difficult to process them. As a result, we experience a lot of dis-ease.Today’s guest has a different approach. After a back injury while playing college football, Lee Holden was told he’d be out for the rest of the season. He took pain medication, but when the pills affected his digestion he sought a different route for healing. To his surprise, acupuncture made him better after just a few weeks and he was back in the team faster than anyone predicted. This profound healing experience reignited Lee’s passion for understanding energy and inspired him to practice Qi Gong.Qi Gong is a mind, body, spirit practice that helps us reconnect with our life force by opening the flow of the energy meridians. Through a combination of posture, movement, breathing, sound, and focus, Qi Gong can help us deal with stress and dis-ease. Lee has practiced Qi Gong for over 25 years and helped over 10,000 students feel less stressed and more energetic. Working with the energy of the ‘three treasures’ (the mind, body, and heart), Lee’s work empowers people to live their happiest, most vibrant, most fulfilled lives. You’ll find out how in this episode.“If we can start to work with the energy of the mind — the chi of the mind — in visualising the way we want to be in our health and vitality or the way we want our lives to go, we can start to have a dramatic impact in a positive direction.” Lee’s also passionate about exploring how energy awareness can unlock human - even superhuman potential. It’s the subject of his new movie and something we discuss in this episode too. Wait until you hear how some of the masters are shattering our perception of what’s possible. It will blow your mind!Lee’s wisdom and insight about energy left me super curious to discover and explore more and I’m certain you’ll feel the same way. 67. Todd Herman: Using Alter Egos To Experience The Life You Want

“An alter ego gives you an amazing tool to tap into the creative imagination to allow you to unfold and see more of what you’re capable of.”This episode’s guest is an absolute rockstar. I picked up his new book a few weeks back and finished it within 2 days - which should be telling for the greatness that was shared here.Mr Todd Herman is a peak performance coach and serial entrepreneur who’s been mentoring elite performers in the world of sport and business for over 20 years. Through his treasure box of tools and philosophies, Todd is known for helping people achieve their most ambitious goals. And in this episode, you’ll discover one of his most powerful techniques - so you can use it for yourself. The technique I’m referring to is the use of an “alter ego”, which comes from Todd’s new book - The Alter Ego Effect.Alter egos are the “other you”. They are characters (or identities) you can ‘activate’ to demonstrate the mindsets, beliefs, and practices that enable you to take the actions required to achieve your goals. In this way, alter egos are a tool that give you enough confidence to overcome resistance and get momentum going. It’s how they can help you achieve really hard things. So if you know that there’s more in your tank and you get frustrated because willpower isn’t enough to take you over the threshold, you definitely want to listen to this episode.Understand the superhero effect of alter egos and you’ll empower yourself to achieve your most ambitious goals.“An alter ego for many people is often there to help you get past that initial resistance you may be having around pursuing something that’s new.”In this episode you’ll discover:What becomes possible for you and your life when you play with your alter egosHow ‘activating’ alter egos connects you with the same creative imagination that makes children believe they can be supermanWhy it’s healthier and more advantageous to be able to access multiple ‘selves’ rather than stick with a single identityHow Todd used an alter ego to manage his daughter’s tantrums (this is a must-hear technique for any parent!)The relationship between your ‘trapped self’ and your ‘heroic self’ (and how your alter egos help you shift from one to the other)What I loved most about this interview is the notion that the person you want to be is already inside.Todd explains that you’re not broken and you don’t need to be fixed. Instead, you simply need to chisel away at all the ‘stuff’ that isn’t you. That’s what alter egos will help you achieve and why it’s an essential tool for living an extraordinary life.So listen in now.For a deeper dive on this concept - grab yourself a copy of the The Alter Ego Effect too. I’ve read it, it’s incredible, and I’m sure you’ll love it too.“There is no one definition of who you are. You are the one who gets to decide who and what you are. Most people are simply walking around allowing other people to define who they are.”How to contact and connect with ToddYou can grab a copy of Todd’s book on AmazonFor more details of his work, visit toddherman.meAnd to follow Todd on social, check out:https://twitter.com/todd_hermanhttps://www.facebook.com/toddhermanconnect/https://www.instagram.com/todd_herman/One last thing… We thrive on your feedback, so if you’ve enjoyed this show, please rate us and leave us a review.
