TLS #139 with Dana Shultz: Personal Struggles & Connecting to Your Intuition

Today’s Lively Show is with a beloved returning guest, Dana Shultz, of Minimalist Baker. In today’s show, we’re discussing an unknown, ongoing health issue that has led to Dana losing about 50% of her hair over the past year and a half and triggered a host of life lessons along the way. The doubts, vulnerability, and concerns Dana discusses are ones that many of us can relate to in various aspects of our lives – aging, illness, weight gain/loss, body changes with pregnancy, and more. This episode is perfect for anyone struggling with an ongoing health or self-worth issue that wants to feel connection and a bit less alone in their journey. She tells us that she believes making drastic health and medical changes contributed to her current hair loss condition. Dana says at first, she believed it was a temporary issue, but it continued and possibly got worse, but this issue began to take an emotional toll on her as well as being more self-conscious with herself. She explains how she became more closed to others, depressed and her confidence diminished as her problem grew. Dana tells us that it took a while to overcome the block to talk to her friends and family about her problem, but by doing so, her confidence is increased. She talks about how she is becoming more accepting of her hair loss and how she is incorporating mindfulness in her daily life as to not spiral back into the denial and rejection phases. Dana attributes her ability to accept and deal with her problem by having gratitude and being thankful for the things she has in life. She tells us how meditation brings her the calmness, peace and stability she needs daily. Dana shares her letter to her intuition that she wrote and how it has helped her talk through the things that were holding her back. She mentions how skeptical she was about tapping into her intuition, but by doing so, she has created a better place for herself in her life.
