199. Changing Directions : Trust Your Gut, Ask For Help, Have Patience In Deciding & Believe In Yourself

I’ve been considering putting the show on pause for a few months and it feels like time to do that. I need to create space to put more time and energy into new creative ideas that I have that will really take my career to the next level. Change is scary, doing this podcast twice a week is comforting… and I know this is what needs to happen. Today we’re doing to dive into 5 reminders for changing directions.     Change is scary. Sticking to the same routines is easy. But when something deep down inside us is telling us we need to make a change, we need to do just that. It’s a calculated decision and not something we normally decide overnight but if it feels right, we must do it. 5 reminders for changing directions 1 : Trust your gut when making a change. There’s no need to worry about the past, future or what people might say about us making the change. Get present and lean into what you feel is the right thing to do.  2 : Ask for help when you need it. When considering going through change in your life or while in the process, ask for assistance from those who you think could help. We don’t need to make this a solo mission, it’s better to have people alongside us.’ 3 : Have patience in deciding. This is a case by case scenario for how long to wait before taking action but I challenge you to be calculated and thoughtful when making changes. Timing is everything.  4 : Believe in yourself. So long as you’re making the decision to make a change, it will always be the right decision because you made it. 5 : Pick up where you left off. If things don’t work out or we want to change back to where we were at previously, we can do that. If that’s not possible, that’s okay too. Now we’re on another adventure of figuring it out.      Challenge for the listeners Take 10mins in the next 24hrs and consider what changes you’ve wanted to make in your life but have yet to do so. I would love and be honored if this was the episode that inspired you to take that first step     Questions from the SDI Community  Troy : Noticed easing into a routine is much easier than full tilt  Nick : Have the opportunity for the job in a field I dreamed of but now that it’s real it scares me a bit     Get hydrated with Liquid I.V.! 197. Create Effortless Routines : Plan Ahead by Picking a Time, Day of Week and Place to Complete It

Make your routines effortless. Come up with a plan by picking a day of week, time of day and where the routine will take place and watch how much easier it is to show up consistently. Locking it onto our calendar, we no longer wait for motivation to hit us to complete the routine. We just follow the schedule and get to it when it arrives. Today we’re going to dive into the four steps to make any and all routines effortless.     Routines are our personal accountability partner to consistently show up and work on our habits, goals, passion projects etc. In order to make these routines effortless, we need to pay attention to when we’re most excited to complete these routines and schedule them into our lives respectfully. That way when it comes time to get to work, we’re setting ourselves up for success to show up and get it done. 3 steps to create effortless routines : 1. Pick a day or days of the week that works best to complete the routine. It’s totally up to you, just make it the easiest possible day to complete the task.  2. Choose a time of day that feels best to complete it. It will vary based on what the routine is so continue to test & try different times until you find that sweet spot.  3. Decide where the routine will take place ahead of time so you know exactly where to be and it will help you mentally and physically show up prepared. If adjustments on location need to be made, pivot accordingly.      Challenge for the listeners Take 10 minutes within the next 24hrs and consider some of your routines. Do you just do them when you feel like it? Do you notice you enjoy doing certain routines more depending on time of day or day of week you complete them? Is there a certain place you find helps make you most comfortable to drop into it and get into a flow? If possible, schedule out these routines into your life and know the day of week, time of day and where to do them ahead of time. I will help you stay accountable and consistent.      Community Questions  Jordan Tarver : When do you know it’s time to change your routine? I value a personal growth & wellness focused lifestyle. Because I’ve decided this lifestyle, a lot of my daily decisions whether or not to do something revolve around these two categories. Does this decision or opportunity fit either of them? If yes, I should probably do it. If not, I should probably pass. These small daily decisions may not feel like much in the moment but they will compound with time and bring whatever we visualize as our lifestyle into fruition. Today we’re going to dive into 10 lifestyle tips that have had a profound impact on my life.     The daily decisions we make have a direct impact on the lifestyle we create for ourselves. Each of us has the ability and responsibility to choose what we want that lifestyle to be and then it’s on us to make sure it becomes our reality. 193. Mental Health Habits : Express How I Feel, Becoming An Optimist Thought Coach, Edit My Peers & Content Consumption Awareness

Mental health is no joke. This isn’t a podcast to chat about it because “everyone is talking about it”. This is a podcast to talk about it because it’s real shit. I’ve had my own personal journey with high highs and low lows and it’s been quite a ride. Over the years I’ve gotten much better at being aware of what benefits my mental health and what hurts it. Today I want to discuss why it’s important that we speak up & seven habits that I have found to be beneficial to my personal mental health.  Disclaimer : I am by no means an expert, this episode is purely me speaking on my experiences. We all have beautiful minds, lets learn to take care of them.     7 habits that help my mental health : 1 : Daily sweat. Not only does it help my physical but also my mental fitness. Every day the workout may be different in what I’m doing or how long but I try to get in something. 2 : Meditation. Just 10 minutes a day has allowed me to be more in control of emotions like anger, jealously, sadness, frustration & more.  3 : Healthy diet. Eating clean foods & drinking liquids that are good for me help me keep a clear mind. Burgers, fries, high sugar drinks or alcohol completely changes my mood which impacts my mental health.  4 : Express How I Feel. Whether it’s talking to someone, writing in a journal, speaking my mind on a podcast or sharing something on social media, it’s crucial that I let out exactly what’s on my mind. 5 : Becoming An Optimist Thought Coach. Even when life is going perfectly, I can slip and fall into a dark hole. The best way to for me to dig myself out is positive thoughts and self compassion for myself.  6 : Edit your peers. By being very aware and taking note of how people make me feel, I then am able to eliminate those who do not bring positive & optimistic energy into my life.  7 : Content consumption. By being aware of what I am consuming in the media, I can make sure my time, energy and attention isn’t going towards things that impact my mental health negatively.    Challenge for the listeners Take 10 mins within the next 24hrs to consider your own mental health. Are you carving out time for habits that make you feel good? Have you procrastinated cutting out habits that make you feel bad? Take sometime to be honest with yourself about it and make those necessary adjustments moving forward.      Get hydrated with Liquid I.V.!
