127. Increase Energy, Focus & Productivity : Get More Done in Less Time
How would you feel if you were able to get more done in less time? Are you someone that has a lot of energy & can focus throughout the day or do you always feel pretty mellow & distracted? Have you ever considered that the daily decisions you make actually impact how productive you’re in a day? Today I want to discuss how we can increase both energy & focus which then increases our productivity. When we’re more productive with our time, we then have extra time to spend on other areas of our life. Instead of wasting time in a given day, lets make every second, of every minute, of every hour count. Principles of increasing your energy & focus For Energy We must be aware of the foods & liquids we are fueling ourselves with on a daily basis. We must prioritize sleep so that our mind & body can get the reset it needs for the next day. We must get in 30-60mins of daily sweat per day. For Focus We must acknowledge the thoughts that arise in our head and instead of getting attached to them let them flow through us. We must consider what are the micro steps we can take today that will help us get 1% closer towards where we want to be. We must commit to 15, 30, 45 or 60mins of focus sprints where we go all in on the task at hand. We must cut out anything, everything or everyone that distracts us so we can get the job done in a timely manner. Challenge for the listeners Spend 10 minutes within the next 24hrs and consider the topics we discussed today. How can you increase your energy? How about your focus? When we get more dialed in on both, we then also increase our productivity which then gives us more time to do other things. Questions from the Stay Dialed In Community Evan : What supplements do you use (if any) for focus? Eva : Microdosing / Intermittent fasting Mark : What time you wake up in the morning and how that affects the rest of your day Manu : Are there things you set your focus on that can be detrimental? 125. Constantly Seek Discomfort : Our Ticket to Growth & Living a Life Without Regret
When was the last time you marched straight towards your fears? Last week? A month ago? Maybe you can’t even remember? If something is of interest to you, do you look at it from the perspective of what you COULD learn or do you see it from a pessimistic lens and consider all the worst case scenarios? Does change scare you? Do you resist it because of the unknown or does it excite you? Today I want to talk about how Seeking Discomfort in our life actually leads to growth. By attacking the opportunities that scare us the most, we set ourselves up for the most amount of growth. Seeking discomfort is our ticket to growth & living a life without regret. Special thanks to Yes Theory creators Matt Dajer, Ammar Kandil & Thomas Brag. Without their megaphone of preaching this concept over the years through their content, I don’t know if these two words would have resonated with me as much as it does today. Four principles to seeking discomfort : (1) Live Without Regrets : We must be able to live without regrets which means we have to chase after the things that interest us. (2) Just Start : We must be willing to start. Planning and strategizing ahead of time is great but at some point we need to get the ball rolling and figure things out as we go. (3) Winning Decision or Learning Opportunity : We must see a choice as either a winning decision or a learning opportunity. There is no such thing as failure when you have this perspective. (4) Stop When You Lose Interest : It’s a balance of not only chasing after your interests and ideas but also being able to recognize when it’s time to stop and move onto something else. Challenge for the listeners Spend 10 minutes within the next 24hrs and create a list of ideas that you’ve been interested in pursuing and have yet done so It doesn’t matter the order you write them but once you’ve completed the list, start attacking one item at a time Don’t worry about the end result or the amount of work it’s going to take to accomplish it, just keep chipping away Questions from the Stay Dialed In Community Manu : The mind sabotages itself Pod review of the week Badgalrayray Want to add fuel to the rocket? 123. The Power Of NO : Take Control of Your Time & Only Say YES to What Excites You
Have you ever said YES to a dinner, event or coffee meet up when you absolutely do NOT want to go? You literally regret the word YES before you even finish the sentence. Why is that? Why do we allow ourselves to commit to things we have 0 interest in being at? Is it that hard to say the word “no”? If so - what’s holding us back from saying it more often than not? Are we afraid to let people down? Are we afraid of the all mighty FOMO? Today I was to discuss the importance of learning to say NO when or gut resists an opportunity. By doing so, we create space for ourselves to say YES to opportunities that truly do excite us. Our time is limited, there are only so many hours in the day and we must be cautious with how we spend our time. Let’s stop dishing out our precious, valuable time to anyone & everyone and lets instead be extremely mindful with where we spend it. Four principles for saying NO (1) Say YES Only If It Excites You : We must learn to say NO to events & opportunities that don’t excite us so that we have the space to say YES to the ones that do. (2) Create Space For Yourself : We must learn to say NO so that we can create space to have our alone time to relax, reset & reflect. (3) We’re The Manager Of Our Time : Nobody controls where we spend our time except for us. (4) Excuses Are Not Needed : When we say NO to something, we don’t need to provide any excuse as to why. If people pressure us, simply tell them you’re busy focusing on yourself. Challenge for the listeners What have you committed to recently that you should have said NO to? If there’s something & it’s coming up, I want you to back out of the plans immediately. Text / call the person and let them know something has come up and you can’t make it. As simple as that. If your plate is clear as of now, I really challenge you from this moment moving forward to only say YES to events + opportunities that truthfully excite you. Questions from the Stay Dialed In Community Dasha : The importance of boundaries + Alyssa : Work boundaries Ben : How do you tell family no & that you need to focus, when you are usually relied on for so much? Elsa : How to say no to my friend when they ask me to go out without looking like an annoying person?
