"The reason that the brain splits in this regard, it's always a protective mechanism."One of the versions of herself was called "Little Anna" where she used baby talk when dealing with the opposite sex."I had this mechanism with men where I thought I had to be really small. And it wasn't a conscious thought," AnnaLynne said. "Bad things happened if I wasn't a good little girl, who was the special girl, who did the things that she was supposed to do.""I didn't know why I had to just give my body to people and I didn't realize that I was doing it because I was hoping that I'd get some love back," she added. Paul Young“BDSM Dungeon Etiquette and Your First Play Party-S03E52” What is a play party?: A play party is a gathering for those in the lifestyle, getting together for various methods of play, be they demonstrations, performances, or just scenes in general.Types of play parties:General play parties are usually listed on Fetlife and openly known about within community munch circles and groups.Dark parties are by invitation only and are only known about by those who have been invited. These are not to be talked about to anyone before or after the event. These most often take place in a private residence.How to get invited to events?Dark parties: it comes down to who you know. Community play parties: You can check the events page on Fetlife to see if anything is listed for your local community.  Vetting is vital to these types of events.  It’s an important practice on both sides, as the host and as those attending.  Most if not all local communities vet via munches. If you have not attended a munch and want to attend, a one-on-one sit-down meeting for MAY take place with group leaders or the event host. However, this ONLY happens at the convenience of the leaders or event host and should NOT be expected. It is our responsibility to do things necessary to be invited. Also, it is often considered rude and poor etiquette to ask for this to happen. It’s important to be patient and openly communicative if you are not being invited to these events as quickly as you had hoped.  Some groups simply have extensive vetting practices, especially for dark parties.  It is also important that you vet those you know are attending and your hosts.  You can check who is going to most community parties and vet them on Fetlife, for dark parties, you will more likely know people on a more personal level before you are invited.   What to bring?  (In no particular order)Fetish-wear or other appropriate clothing to change into or out of for the event.  Some events have strict dress codes to adhere to. The most common is vanilla to the door. After you get inside, nudity is allowed.Towels and washcloths.  While some hosts will provide towels and washcloths to sit on and for clean up, it’s often more considerate to simply pack your own. No host likes to do that much laundry after a party!Bottled water. Many will offer refreshments but again to be considerate and mindful of others it’s often better just to already have it on hand.  Wipes/moist towelettes.  Even if you’re not participating in a scene you may find yourself sweaty or arouse, and these make life so much easier.  Your own toys/toy box in a discreet container!Aspirin/Tylenol. One word: headaches.  NO one wants a headache to ruin this kind of experience, and getting into the practice of having these on hand will make for better experiences down the road as well.  What to expect?Do not expect to participate in a scene unless previously negotiated to do so; you can learn a lot from just watchingAsk yourself what are your personal expectations for this experience? Regular people, doing ordinary things, and having ordinary conversations, during this event.  Acts that bring out things from your wildest fantasies; often for the firsts time ever in real life; or make you uncomfortable due to your own limits/ interests.Casual nudity and/or fetish wear that may make you aroused or uncomfortableSex or sexual acts being carried out.House RulesDifferent hosts/houses have different sets of rules, it’s important to learn these beforehand and/or go over them upon arrival. Usually, they will be posted and you can ask your hosts to view them.  Is there an entry fee or a potluck contribution expected? This is good to know before you arrive.  Where you can go, and where you cannot. You are usually entering a host’s private home for these parties. Some rooms like living spaces will usually be allowed while bedrooms and often outdoor spaces will be set as off-limits. What kind of scenes are appropriate/against the rules. While this isn’t a big deal the first time you attend as you most likely will not be participating, it’s still good to pick up on for future events.  Protocol rules for the household. Is this event high protocol friendly?  What is the dress code both in the house and for your arrival and departure? Make sure you’ve dressed appropriately.  Where to sit while viewing a scene and if a towel is needed/preferred? Do not interrupt a scene or interject yourself as there are risks involved for the participants and distractions increase those risks.  Bring any safety concerns you have for a scene being performed to your hosts discreetly, they have often gone over what will occur with those performing beforehand to address many of these concerns or will stop a scene if you have a valid safety issue to be addressed.  The general no touching rule, applies to both persons and toys/implements. The rule:  If it’s not yours, don’t touch it.  Know what to do in case of an emergency.  Many hosts will have specific protocols in place and first aid kits on hand on the off chance that something may go wrong.  Play party scenes, demos, and performances explained.In a scene of this nature, some people such as exhibitionists enjoy being watched. Others become humiliated and enjoy it on another level.  For those participating in the scene, the world falls away allowing them to focus on what they are doing unless distractions occur.Save any questions you have for after the scene, including aftercare completion. The Trevor Project’s 2021 National Survey on LGBTQ Youth Mental Health sheds light on many of these challenges by capturing the experiences of nearly 35,000 LGBTQ youth ages 13–24 across the United States.Our third annual survey provides brand new data on the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, mental health care disparities, discrimination, food insecurity, conversion therapy, and suicide — in addition to the benefits of LGBTQ-affirming spaces and respecting the pronouns of transgender and nonbinary youth.We are also proud that this sample is our most diverse yet, with 45% being LGBTQ youth of color and 38% being transgender or nonbinary.Among some of the key findings of the survey:42% of LGBTQ youth seriously considered attempting suicide in the past year, including more than half of transgender and nonbinary youth.12% of white youth attempted suicide compared to 31% of Native/Indigenous youth, 21% of Black youth, 21% of multiracial youth, 18% of Latinx youth, and 12% of Asian/Pacific Islander youth.94% of LGBTQ youth reported that recent politics negatively impacted their mental health.More than 80% of LGBTQ youth stated that COVID-19 made their living situation more stressful — and only 1 in 3 LGBTQ youth found their home to be LGBTQ-affirming.70% of LGBTQ youth stated that their mental health was "poor" most of the time or always during COVID-19.48% of LGBTQ youth reported they wanted counseling from a mental health professional but were unable to receive it in the past year.30% of LGBTQ youth experienced food insecurity in the past month, including half of all Native/Indigenous LGBTQ youth.75% of LGBTQ youth reported that they had experienced discrimination based on their sexual orientation or gender identity at least once in their lifetime.Half of all LGBTQ youth of color reported discrimination based on their race/ethnicity in the past year, including 67% of Black LGBTQ youth and 60% of Asian/Pacific Islander LGBTQ youth.13% of LGBTQ youth reported being subjected to conversion therapy, with 83% reporting it occurred when they were under age 18.Transgender and nonbinary youth who reported having pronouns respected by all of the people they lived with attempted suicide at half the rate of those who did not have their pronouns respected by anyone with whom they lived.Transgender and nonbinary youth who were able to change their name and/or gender marker on legal documents, such as driver’s licenses and birth certificates, reported lower rates of attempting suicide.LGBTQ youth who had access to spaces that affirmed their sexual orientation and gender identity reported lower rates of attempting suicide.An overwhelming majority of LGBTQ youth said that social media has both positive (96%) and negative (88%) impacts on their mental health and well-being.Important Links:Full show notes: https://kuldrinskrypt.com/349National Suicide Hotline: 1-800-273-8255https://KuldrinsKrypt.com/Patreon https://kuldrinskrypt.com/silentcommunication https://KuldrinsKrypt.com/survey https://kuldrinskrypt.com/TeePublic Show Producers:- Benefactor ($2,000/month): - What does modern psychology have to say about it?There is no reliable evidence that sexual orientation can be changed, and medical institutions warn that conversion therapy practices are ineffective and potentially harmful. Medical, scientific, and government organizations in the United States and the United Kingdom have expressed concern over the validity, efficacy, and ethics of conversion therapy. Various jurisdictions around the world have passed laws against conversion therapy.The American Psychiatric Association (APA) opposes psychiatric treatment "based upon the assumption that homosexuality per se is a mental disorder or based upon the a priori assumption that a patient should change his/her sexual homosexual orientation" and describes attempts to change a person's sexual orientation by practitioners as unethical. The APA also states that the advancement of conversion therapy may cause social harm by disseminating unscientific views about sexual orientation. In 2001, United States Surgeon General David Satcher issued a report stating that "there is no valid scientific evidence that sexual orientation can be changed".What are some of the techniques that have been used?Techniques used in conversion therapy in the United States and Western Europe have included ice-pick lobotomies; chemical castration with hormonal treatment; aversive treatments, such as "the application of electric shock to the hands and/or genitals"; "nausea-inducing drugs ... administered simultaneously with the presentation of homoerotic stimuli"; and masturbatory reconditioning. More recent clinical techniques used in the United States have been limited to counseling, visualization, social skills training, psychoanalytic therapy, and spiritual interventions such as "prayer and group support and pressure", though there are some reports of aversive treatments through unlicensed practice as late as the early 2000s. The term reparative therapy has been used as a synonym for conversion therapy in general,[9] but it has been argued that, strictly speaking, it refers to a specific kind of therapy associated with the psychologists Elizabeth Moberly and Joseph Nicolosi.Is Conversion Therapy legal? The remainder reported either losing all sexual drive or attempting to remain celibate, with no change in attraction. Some of the participants who failed felt a sense of shame and had gone through conversion therapy programs for many years. Others who failed believed that therapy was worthwhile and valuable. Many respondents felt harmed by the attempt to change, and reported depression, suicidal ideation, and attempts, hypervigilance of gender-deviant mannerisms, social isolation, fear of being a child abuser and poor self-esteem.
