030 - Your Pep Talk
Chronic Pain and Chronic Illness is an elevated Fight-or-Flight response; it is your Sympathetic Nervous System on overdrive. In this episode I discuss some of the physiology involved in this along with some simple things you can do to amp up the Rest-and-Digest side - which is the Parasympathetic Nervous System. I also reiterate your safety; if you have the opportunity to listen to this podcast, I assure you, you are safe.

029 - Janette Barber
Janette Barber was a comedy producer and the Head Writer for the Rosie O'Donnell Show during it's apex; she won 5 Emmy Awards on that show along with another Emmy as a writer for "The View." Janette also spent 12 years as a Stand Up Comedian - appearing on Showtime, Comedy Central, and A&E. Most recently, Janette had a show on The Food Network called "Lighten Up," as well as a couple of shows on Sirius-XM Radio.
In the TMS World she may be most well-known for being featured on an episode of 20/20 in the late 1990s (The 20/20 Story on Dr. Sarno).
Janette was told she wouldn't walk again by a top orthopedic doctor in New York. She saw Dr. Sarno, was evaluated, went to his lecture, and was running a week or two later. Today we talk about her story and her relapse in 2012.
Support from you for the show is HUGE - a simple 5 Star Review on Apple Podcasts/iTunes with a Written Review would help more people find the show and get help from the show. You can subscribe via Apple Podcasts, Spotify, iHeartRadio, Google Play Music or AudioBoom.

028 - Jennifer Hintenberger
It is rare to be literally the Best in the World at anything, let alone a competitive sport. Jennifer Hintenberger is a competitive Kettlebell Sport Athlete out of Eastern Canada. Her videos on Instagram (@jennifer.hintenberger) and YouTube caught my eye initially - she holds 15 World Records and is an International Kettlebell Marathon Federation World Champion. We talk through some of her impressive records, her training and how her athletics have evolved over time.
In a surprise moment, Jennifer goes into detail about chronic pain (I swear I didn't plan this - it was completely ad-libbed) - literally had holes in her stomach on imaging, brought on by... Stress. The doctors' explanation on what was really going on with her intense stomach problems will blow your mind.

027 - BONUS SHOW: My Radio Debut from 2008
I just learned that "National Intern Day" was a thing and it is TODAY! My love for podcasting and broadcasting started a long time ago but in 2007 I had the opportunity to start interning at 950 KJR Sports Radio in Seattle. This interview is from the week before college graduation in June of 2008; this was done by Elise Woodward during her time at KJR. My final day on the job I got to be interviewed on-air. I thought it would be an appropriate day to drop this extra 8 minutes for you.

026 - The ACE Study and Curing Your Pain
What is the ACE Study? It's the Adverse Childhood Experiences Study; from 1995-1997 the study gauged long-term health impact of people who experienced a variety of types of traumas as children. Dr. Hanscom and I talked about this on last week's episode but I realized that many people were not aware of this study.
I also talk through your path out of chronic pain. How did I do it? How can you do it?
If you like what you hear, please take a minute to leave a 5 Star Review on iTunes/Apple Podcasts and let the people scrolling through podcasts know why you spend part of your week listening to THIS Podcast.

025 - Dr. David Hanscom
How does a well-known Spine Surgeon treat and cure hundreds of patients of chronic health problems without surgery? Dr. David Hanscom is the author of "Back in Control," and has been practicing medicine in Seattle for decades. You can find his work at BackinControl.com
I met with Dr. Hanscom at the Washington Athletic Club in Downtown Seattle to talk about the real cause of chronic pain and how to get rid of it. At over 1 hour, this is a longer conversation, but will be worth your time.

024 - Red Phoenix Nutrition w/ Sarah Stoiber-Kumar
Sarah Stoiber-Kumar is a nutrition coach in Chicago and is the Owner of Red Phoenix Nutrition. Sarah's methodology is different from many nutrition coaches in that a large part of her evaluation in building plans for her clients is around stressors and what is going on in their life, as opposed to the standard Height + Weight + Gender + Age.
In this episode we discuss all of the things that go into nutrition plans, weight loss, performance and longevity.

023 - June Results + The Best Of from 2017
It's a Holiday Week so instead of interviewing someone I thought I'd go back into the archives and pull out some clips from a few episodes that aired last year. Lots of good nuggets in here - if you like the few minute clips that play you can go back into past episodes to listen to it in it's entirety.
I also go through the massive 40% increase in downloads in June as well as the full demographic statistics.
If you like what you hear please consider leaving a 5-star and written review on Apple Podcasts. Your short 2 minute gesture really helps the podcast with exposure and allowing more people to be helped.

022 - Thank You Dr. Sarno
I asked social media the question: "How is your life different since you found Dr. Sarno's work?" The answers were awesome - I address each of the responses, including the ones where people may need a pep talk.
This episode falls right between the anniversary of Dr. Sarno's death and when I found Dr. Sarno's work. My life was changed the day I bought that book.
*The introduction was taken from the Kickstarter campaign for the Sarno-inspired documentary "All the Rage." All credit goes to the filmmakers of the movie.
*Please leave an iTunes/Apple Podcast 5-Star Review along with a Written Review, if you like what you hear.
