Episode 76 - Tara Gaucher

Today I had a great visit with Tara Gaucher, we gave a shout out to my good friend Dustin, we talked a little bit about Carl Paoli, I gave a shout out to Edith, one of my podcast listeners and we dove down a whole bunch of rabbit holes. We talked about Big Hairy Audacious Goals, we talked about risky jumps, we talked about travelling, we talked about how awkward I can be when I order food, we talked about getting cab rides, we talked about water that you can't drink and water that you can drink. There are a lot of times in our life where things don't quite go as we planned. We highlighted a few moments where Tara realized "what am I doing here!?". We talked about the value of travel. We talked about the value of minimalism. We talked about how hard people can be on themselves and the benefits of going out of your way to show up for yourself like you would for a loved on. Tara has a very diverse list of jobs she has done in her past and a wealth of good old fashioned life experience. I enjoyed our conversation so I hope you do too. Thank you for your support of The Lifestyle Chase! Get full access to Insight by Chris Liddle at chrisliddle.substack.com/subscribe

He is incredibly creative but at the same time extremely hard on himself. He called me from Iceland where he is currently Hafþór Björnsson's videographer. Anyone not knowing who that is, it's The Mountain from Game of Thrones also known as one of the strongest men in the world. Anthony has worked for a lot of high profile clients and learned a lot of valuable lessons so far in his life. We had a great conversation and even got to catch up about things we were doing off the air as well. Thank you for listening and please share with your friends.  Get full access to Insight by Chris Liddle at chrisliddle.substack.com/subscribe

Episode 74 - Mark Zarate

He's a teacher, personal trainer, cancer survivor, podcast host, just got engaged 9 days ago and he likes cookies as much as me. He's my new American home slice. Ironically he drinks Tim Hortons coffee more than I do. If you've made it this far, you'll enjoy this one a lot. We crushed two episodes today. I'll be appearing on his podcast, "Cool, Calm, & Chaotic" on Wednesday. It will be a good combo to listen to both perspectives. Stay tuned! Until then, I would like to introduce you to Mark Zarate.  Get full access to Insight by Chris Liddle at chrisliddle.substack.com/subscribe

Episode 73 - Kevin "Coach" Zimmerman

Coach as he is most often referred to, has a lot of wisdom to share. That goes without saying. The life experience he has from his various roles working with young offenders as well as his wealth of experience working with athletes has made him into the individual he is today. We talked about the joy that he gets from being a grandparent, a husband, and from seeing people get that light bulb moment as they first get comfortable in the gym. We talked about life's toughest challenges and dark moments and how fitness helps with them. We also talked about the weirdest pre competition ritual he's ever witnessed and I asked him what his favourite things were about dogs and what he admires most about his wife. I hope you enjoy this one, thank you for your ongoing support, please share with a friend and help me by leaving a rating on Apple Podcasts. Episode 71 - Carl Paoli

Carl Paoli was born in the U.S. to Swedish parents. He grew up in Spain and learned from an early age how to connect to and be conscious of others. Carl has always been an active person. It has lead him to explore many different sports such as snow boarding, skiing, wake boarding, water skiing, karate, among others. Gymnastics however, is what truly molded a lot of what makes up the human that he's grown into today. Carl trained and competed for over fifteen years as an elite level gymnast in Spain. Throughout his gymnastics career he received many accolades, including a National Gold Medal for Vault. Carl studied Environmental Science at Universidad Miguel Hernandez and specialized in Genetic Engineering and Coral Reef Ecology. There is a story to how he got through schooling faster than average but you'll have to do your research to find that one out. After university, Carl returned to the U.S. to pursue his career in marine biology.Carl's mind was never far from his appreciation for sport and fitness, and he reentered the world of gymnastics in 2004 in San Francisco. He worked as a Strength and Conditioning Coach and ran his own practice called Naka Athletics, which specialized in all level physical preparation and representation of action sports athletes.Carl is known to many for his innovations in CrossFit, the seminars he's presented and his presence online with learning material and resources. Carl is also a New York Times Bestselling Author, a dad, a son, a husband, a friend, a mentor, a business owner and many other things. He's worn a lot of hats in his life, and continues to change them. He recently had a scare with Tinitus which for anyone who doesn't know is a ringing in the ears that can lead to hearing loss. He remains active at his local CrossFit gym, going for walks with is dog, and connecting with people on multiple levels and through various settings and avenues to help them solve their own obstacles. He puts together focused seminars/think-tanks to progress people further through self-awareness, collaboration, and wellness. I hope you enjoy this one - it definitely could have easily been 6 hours long if we kept talking.   Get full access to Insight by Chris Liddle at chrisliddle.substack.com/subscribe

Jordan Syatt is a 5x World Record Powerlifter, Gary Vaynerchuk's personal trainer, strength and nutrition coach, enjoys Harry Potter, Coffee, and Big Macs. We scheduled this episode at the end of August so it's been something I've been looking forward to for a while. We talked about unicorn coffee, Dumbledore, J.K. Rowling, Jordan Syatt's Mom, fitness professionals he looks up to, what life was like when he was 10 years old, his recent challenge that's gone viral on YouTube, pivotal moments in his career, emotion versus logic, and many more. You'll have to give this one a listen. The audio is a little weird but that's why I need you to share the episode because that's what will enable me to one day have a budget to maybe get a better internet package or maybe some more RAM for my computer. You know. The little things. All jokes aside, I really appreciate everyone who listens and supports The Lifestyle Chase. It means a great deal to me! Episode 67 - TJ Mims

TJ Mims is from San Jose, California but it was just a week ago that he was staying here in an Air BnB in Edmonton for the Evolve Strength Symposium. I met him at the Kansas City Fitness Summit. TJ has had his fair share of obstacles he's found a wife that has been able to help him conquer them. We talked a fair bit about mental health in this episode, and promoted the idea that no matter who you are, what you do, where you've been or what you've done, seeing a therapist is normal. You can just go see one just to see one. If anyone gives you a hard time for it, call us up. We talked about his favourite video games, his favourite lift and how it became his kryptonite, we talked about some of his role models, his childhood, and his experiences working in the restaurant/bar industry. It was a good conversation and I encourage you to listen to some of the other episodes as well. Let me know what you think, I'd love to hear from you. Please help in promoting this episode and any other episode you enjoy by sharing with your friends on social media. It takes a lot of time and commitment to host a podcast and sometimes a little validation can go a long way. Thank you for the support!
