What can you do to take control of your life and lead a life based on your values rather than someone else’s values or society’s values?
What is the Mindful Action Plan and how can you use it to implement ACT in your life to make the behavioral changes you want?
What is counter-conditioning and how can you use it to embrace discomfort and “negative” emotions so you can start leading the life you want?
A full range of human emotions is necessary to lead a fulfilling life, but many of us associate certain emotions with negativity, thus leading us to avoid or suppress feeling those emotions. Consequently, we then avoid the events or activities that lead to us feeling those emotions when those events and activities could be exactly what we need in order to grow as individuals, professionals, friends, lovers, etc. It’s important to be able to accept all of your emotions and develop a comfortable relationship with them and yourself so you can lead the life you want.

David Meltzer | How to Buy Happiness by Shopping for the RIGHT Things
In today’s episode, we cover the myth about success with David Meltzer. David is the Co-founder of Sports 1 Marketing and formerly served as CEO of the renowned Leigh Steinberg Sports & Entertainment agency, which was the inspiration for the movie Jerry Maguire.
While “money can’t buy happiness” is a phrase most people in today’s world are familiar with, many of us still chase after money as if it will buy us happiness - so what is it about this truth we can’t seem to let go of and what can you do every day to lead a more fulfilling life without money?
What to Listen For
What is the biggest myth about success?
What does it mean to “shop for the right things” and why is that phrase so important when you start attaining financial success?
How do you start practicing gratitude when you feel like you have nothing to be grateful for?
What are the 3 votes you make each day that influence whether or not you can live a successful, fulfilling life?
What 3 concepts can you internalize that will give you motivation on a daily basis?
What 5 daily practices can you start implementing today to help you achieve your dreams?
We grow up being told that money doesn’t buy happiness and yet we are surrounded and bombarded with messages about the crap we need to buy in order to make our lives better (aka to make us happier). And many of us are raised in a culture where we expect to give/receive material gifts every year (Christmas, birthdays, etc) because they’ll bring us joy (aka happiness). We have to be able to recognize these signals and then we must be willing to take steps to live outside of them - aware of them, but dismissive of how silly they are.

Bruce Feiler | The Lie We've Been Taught About Life and How to Prepare for Lifequakes
In today’s episode, we cover the myth of linear success with Bruce Feiler. Bruce is the author of seven New York Times bestsellers, the presenter of two prime-time series on PBS, and the inspiration for the drama series Council of Dads on NBC.
Many of us have grown up with a misconception about how life is “supposed to go” - but where does that idea come from, how did people think about life before that better prepared them for major setbacks, and what can we do to better prepare ourselves now for the inevitable pain and suffering we will deal with in our lives?
What to Listen For
What is a life quake, how often do they occur in our lives, and how can we prepare for them?
Why do many of us have the misconception that life should follow a linear path, how does that prevent us from handling what life throws at us, and what can we do to change our mindset so the stress doesn’t kill us?
What is the best response to a setback in life?
How should we construct our identity when life will always throw unexpected, stressful, and potentially traumatic events at us that set us back from the linear life path we expect?
What can we do when the story we tell ourselves about life is “supposed to be about” is disrupted by unexpected events so we are not crushed by those events?
Why does it feel like we are dealing with more and more major life events than generations in the past had to deal with and how can we adapt to so many potential setbacks in life?
We have been led to believe life is supposed to follow a linear path. Many of us think as long as we keep a stable job and work for a good company, our wealth and our lives will keep improving over time. Unfortunately, that is not how life works.
Everything in this universe is cyclical. Life is born and then life dies so more life can take its place. To get stronger, you must apply stress to your body and then let it rest. To navigate all of life’s obstacles, you must push forward, tackle one, and then take a moment to collect yourself before pushing forward to tackle the next one, and some of those obstacles can knock you down and keep you down longer than you “want to be.”
But we can’t let that stop us from learning and moving forward.

Carson Tate | The Secret to Finding Fulfillment at Work and Turning Your Strengths Into Professional Gold
In today’s episode, we cover finding fulfillment at work with Carson Tate. Carson is the author of Own It. Love It. Make It Work, the founder of Working Simply, and is a renowned expert on workplace productivity.
We have been taught to find the job we love, but what if you could learn to love any job you have instead - what would you have to do, how can you set yourself up for success, and how do you find a great mentor to guide you?
What to Listen For
What is the fundamental flaw behind trying to escape from your problems?
Why does fear keep so many people miserable at their jobs and what can you do about it if running to another job just results in the same feeling?
How do you create opportunities for positive feedback at work when you feel you are not being appreciated?
How can you discover your strengths to forge ahead in your professional life?
What is the ladder of interference, why do you need to get off of it, and what can you do to get off of it before it’s too late?
What can you do to cultivate a healthier working environment so it’s not holding you back from success and fulfillment?
What is the SCARF framework and how can you use it to improve your relationships?
What is emotional theater and how can you use it to take a step back from a difficult situation and look at it how it is affecting you objectively so you can think clearly about what to do?
Why is the compliment sandwich NOT an effective way to give feedback and what should you do instead?
How should you go about finding a mentor and what should you NOT do to make sure you don’t push them away?
It has been drilled into us by inspirational speakers and countless successful people that we won’t be able to find fulfillment in what we do for work until we find the one job that we love.
But how many jobs are you going to have to work before you find that job?
What if instead, you could learn to find fulfillment in every job you take by focusing on some key aspects of the job and why they matter to you. By doing this, you can take pride in your work and give it the effort necessary for you to succeed and leave a great impression on those around you so you’ll develop a solid network that will launch you to even greater success.

Toolbox: The Myth About Friendship and 3 Ways to Make a Deeper Connection
In today’s episode, we cover emotional connection with Michael Herold. Michael is the instructor for the Art of Charm’s Core Confidence program and uses evidence-based psychotherapy to help clients overcome their social anxiety and become the best versions of themselves.
In today’s data-driven world, many of us are struggling to connect with those around us because we don’t know how to connect on an emotional level, but what does it mean to connect emotionally, what three rock solid steps can you take to deepen the connections with those around you, and how should you lead a conversation to make others feel comfortable around you?
What to Listen For
What three steps can you take to make a deeper connection with everyone you meet?
Why is it impossible to connect with other humans using facts and data, and what should you use instead?
How can you ask deeper questions that lead to fascinating conversations and deeper connections?
What questions can you ask to deepen your relationships with anyone?
What are the 3 levels of rapport we go through to connect with other people and why can going through them out of order lead to pushing people away when meeting them?
What is the difference between light, medium, and heavy disclosure and when is it appropriate to approach each level?
Why is it dangerous to ask too many questions in a conversation and how should you balance the asking of questions to make a conversation flow smoothly?
Why is there no such thing as the perfect question or perfect answer in a fluid conversation?
How should you word your questions to elicit thoughtful answers rather than cold data-driven answers?
How do you lean into emotional content during conversations so the conversation doesn’t fall flat?
Human beings don’t connect with other human beings through facts and figures. We connect based on shared emotional experiences. But it can be difficult to tap into those shared emotional experiences if you’re uncomfortable asking open ended questions and sharing your feelings, aspirations, and fears. And in order to break through that discomfort, you have to do more than read a book or listen to a podcast - you must be willing to go out and talk to people.

Geoff Woods | Why Discipline is a Lie & The Billion Dollar Secret to Achieving Your Goals Faster
In today’s episode, we cover prioritization with Geoff Woods. Geoff is the Vice President of The ONE Thing and the host of The ONE Thing podcast which is in the top 5% of all podcasts in the world.
Many of us get distracted by everything we think we have to do and all the directions other people pull us in, but if we let all of those things consume our time, we’ll never get to where we want to be, so how do you figure out what you need to do and accomplish your dreams?
What to Listen For
What is the one thing behind extraordinary results and how can you find out what your ONE thing is?
What framework can you use to figure out what to focus your time and energy on?
How do you narrow down a to-do list to figure out what the most important items are?
What can you do to stay disciplined and focused on the important tasks in your personal and professional lives?
How do you build more discipline?
How do you improve different areas of your life if you’re only focusing on one thing at a time?
How do you set goals that pull you toward them?
What can you do to strengthen your willpower and use it in a meaningful way?
What is the value in finding a coach to help you achieve your goals and dreams?
Multitasking has been scientifically proven to be less effective than focusing on one task at a time. However, focusing on the wrong tasks one at a time will also be ineffective. First, we must come up with a clear vision of what we want, and then drill down to the smallest tasks we can accomplish on a daily and weekly basis. This way we are able to track our progress toward the long term goal while also prioritizing the important tasks over less important tasks that might get thrown our way everyday.

J. Douglas Holladay | Stop Following Your Passion & 4 Essential Steps to Success
In today’s episode, we rethink the definition of success with J Douglas Holladay. Doug is the founder and CEO of Path North, a Georgetown University professor, former White House advisor, and the author of Rethinking Success: Eight Essential Practices for Finding Meaning in Work and Life.
In an age when more and more people are finding themselves trapped by the idea of a nonstop pursuit of material wealth, it’s time to take a moment and redefine what success should mean before we run ourselves into the ground, so what should success look like and what can we do to find long-lasting success that genuinely makes us better people?
What to Listen For
What’s wrong with the current definition of success and why do we need to rethink it before we run ourselves into the ground?
What is the difference between happiness and meaning, and how do you differentiate between the two so you are not chasing fleeting moments and rewards?
Why is it more important to be comfortable sharing your weaknesses and failures instead of your strengths and successes?
What role does forgiveness play in our ability to build and maintain relationships, and why can a lack of forgiveness be our downfall?
How do we escape the trap of becoming our parents so we can take their best traits and ditch the worst traits?
What can you do to find your own narrative while pushing back on everyone around you with their own narrative for who you are and who they expect you to be?
What questions can you ask yourself to make sure you are living your story instead of the story everyone else wants you to live?
What exercise can you do to integrate what you need to do and what you love to do?
Many of us define success through a lens we develop over years of experience and exposure to the world around us. Unfortunately for many, this has turned into an endless pursuit of more stuff to fill the void inside us created by the same society dangling the trappings of wealth in front of us no matter where we go in the modern world.
It’s time to redefine what success means so we can get out from under the obscene expectations set by society and start living a fulfilled life resulting from living a life inline with our values and not things.
