E146 - Olivia Schmitt On Stepping Outside Of Your Comfort Zone With Social Video Engagement
Olivia Schmitt is a Select Business Unit Manager for TRICOR. But this isn't an episode purely about insurance. I wanted to speak with Olivia because she stuck her neck out, stepped out of her comfort zone and began routinely making LinkedIn videos. Making videos is hard. Making videos on a routine basis is harder. Making videos on a routine basis with such a positive message made me want to discuss why and how she does it.

E144 - Hands-On Training For Producers & Agency Owners with Meg McKeen of Adjunct Advisors
In this episode of Profiles in Risk, I spoke with Meg McKeen founder of Adjunct Advisors. Meg has taken her expertise in insurance and underwriting and taken a hands-on approach to training producers, agency owners and agency staff. The thing I most appreciate with a hands-on approach is the ability to role play situations and scenarios. You can learn to sell (or manage customer expectations) by reading books. It takes practice and without proper role playing simulation, your employees learn on the job with all the risks that something like that exposes you to. E140 - Kevin O'Brien, President of the Inland Marine Underwriters Assoc (IMUA)
From the outside insurance seems like a monolith. The industry is really an ecosystem though. Products and business models for different lines of business are quite different from one another. Expertise in one line does not mean you have expertise in others, and so insurance professionals must spend an extensive amount of time highly focused in an area.In this episode of Profiles in Risk, I spoke with Kevin O'Brien, President of the Inland Marine Underwriters Association (IMUA). We discussed the benefits of a professional organization for inland marine professionals. Inland marine insurance is highly specialized, requiring its own training, underwriting, production and brokering. The IMUA facilitates all of these for these professionals.
