E137: Building An Insurance Company On Technology with Guest Werner Kruck, COO of Security First

Back in late 2018, Wesley Todd of CaseGlide and I were discussing the state of the insurtech world. We decided how interesting it would be to discuss building a tech-centric insurance organization with people who have decades of experience actually doing this. So, in the first of a many part series in 2019, Wes and I co-hosted an interview with Werner Kruck of Security First. Werner is a veteran of Florida insurance, perhaps the toughest insurance market in the world. He is part of a team that has built Security First. We discuss technology (the good, bad and ugly) and the Florida insurance markets.CONNECT WITH WERNER KRUCK: LinkedIn - https://www.linkedin.com/in/wernerkruck/ Security First - http://www.securityfirstflorida.com/ SUBSCRIBE AT:Buzzsprout RSS: http://www.buzzsprout.com/87086Google Play: https://goo.gl/WMAvW4iTunes: https://goo.gl/7SqwvP Overcast: https://goo.gl/8b4cbD Spotify: https://goo.gl/niAbGN  Stitcher: https://goo.gl/DmE7MiYouTube: https://goo.gl/1Turar

E131: Myranda Elizabeth Joseph on Being an Insurance Producer and RMI Student Hybrid

In this episode of I spoke with Myranda Elizabeth Joseph. Unlike many RMI students who go into industry after their studies, Myranda finished high school and needed to make money then. She immediately found insurance production satisfying. Still, an itch remained, and Myranda decided to kill two birds with one stone by getting her degree in insurance, while also building up her book. Myranda shows a potential pathway for agency owners who are seeking to perpetuate their sales force. Why not recruit high school graduates who you can then train in-house while also training them in the more academic and technical aspects of insurance. Myranda is exactly the type of person who will become the face of the industry.CONNECT WITH MYRANDA ELIZABETH JOSEPH:LinkedIn - https://www.linkedin.com/in/myranda-elizabeth-joseph-a5263067/  MENTIONED IN THIS EPISODE:Kent State Online Insurance Program - https://www.kent.edu/columbiana/insurance Gamma Iota Sigma: https://gammaiotasigma.org/ Erin Condren Planners: https://amzn.to/2M6QqJj  BOOKS RECOMMENDED BY: Harry Potter Books: https://amzn.to/2AJkt5f Books by Bill Whitley: https://amzn.to/2VS7Hu9Books by Stephen Fry: https://amzn.to/2FuZlmwSUBSCRIBE AT:Buzzsprout RSS: http://www.buzzsprout.com/87086Google Play: https://goo.gl/WMAvW4iTunes: https://goo.gl/7SqwvP Overcast: https://goo.gl/8b4cbD Spotify: https://goo.gl/niAbGN  Stitcher: https://goo.gl/DmE7MiYouTube: https://goo.gl/1Turar

E130 - Blockchain Strategy & Value Chain With Derek Lovrenich & Phil Duncan of insurEco

In this episode of Profiles in Risk, I spoke with Derek Lovrenich & Phil Duncan of InsurEco. Derek will be presenting at the Silicon Valley Insurance Accelerator Blockchain conference on January 29th in Palo Alto. We discussed how companies in the insurance ecosystem should contemplate a technical and business strategy for incorporating blockchain. We went deep down the rabbit hole as I follow Derek and Phil in the oblivion of tokenizing aspects of insurance data. My personal belief is that we haven't even begun to imagine all of the possible solutions blockchain technologies will bring to insurance. The title of Derek's’ workshop is:Creating a Company Blockchain Strategy & Value ChainHands-on exec workshop that guides participants through integrating Blockchain and related ecosystems into the company’s overall Digital Insurance, Product & Partnering Strategy.Register here to get 30% off: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/digital-insurance-leadership-blockchain-smart-insurance-tickets-46683944936?discount=InsNerds30Connect With:Derek Lovrenich - LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/blocksmith/ Phil Duncan - LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/insuranceblock/ insurEco - https://insureco.io/
