Chris Paines may have one.

We get to discuss Chris' unique lineage, the concept that made him so popular, and his opinions(that I happen to share) on jiu-jitsu style warm ups.

#67 Sam Rivera: Overcoming
What does it mean to overcome?
I decided to ask film maker, Sam Rivera this question. Considering he built his entire brand on this powerful word, he seemed like the expert.
As we dig deep in the interview you will learn A LOT of really interesting things on more than just overcoming. You will learn how Sam built a network with some of the biggest names in the business including Joe Rogan, Jocko, and even Teddy Atlas.
Sam also describes the thought processes that got him out of the lowest of lows and how you can do the same!

#66 Eric Huebner: Transitioning from Wrestling to Jiu-Jitsu
We always talk in jiu-jitsu about how easy guys who wrestled in school have it.
"They just need to learn some submissions."
I hear that all of the time. But, is it true?
I find that a majority of wrestlers that come in, don't stick with jiu-jitsu for some reason or another. Today I(@thejoshmckinney) have the pleasure of interviewing Eric Huebner(@erichueb12), one of my brown belts who was(and still is) a phenomenal wrestler and has transitioned into being sold out for gi jiu-jitsu.
We dig into what it was like making that jump and why he loves jiu-jitsu so much.
We also are able to tell the crazy story of the first time that I ever directly experienced racism.

#64 Why I Almost QUIT BJJ | How I overcame it
I nearly quit jiu-jitsu as a purple belt.
This isn't something that I talk about very much, or even at all really. I used to try to get fulfillment in winning grappling tournaments. It worked for a long time, all the way up until I stopped winning.
I know the thought of quitting jiu-jitsu is something that nearly everyone goes through in their journey. I wanted to take today and be honest about my struggle and some of the incredibly fortunate events and people that helped me get through this mindset.
If you have a story of overcoming quitting jiu-jitsu, I would love to hear from you and share it on the podcast. Send me an email at josh@simplifyingjiujitsu.com or my instagram @thejoshmckinney

Why People Quit BJJ | How to Make Sure It Doesn't Happen To You
We've all had a friend that seemed like they were in it for the long haul all of the sudden stop showing up. It sucks because you feel like you're losing a training partner and a friend. Because like, who can be friends with someone who doesn't train?
As you progress you will see it happen more and more. There are 3 common reasons that people quit Jiu-Jitsu. In today's episode, Josh(@thejoshmckinney) talks about what they are and how to avoid them.

Jiu-Jitsu Warm-Ups Are Stupid | Suckless Saturday
I know I will take heat for this episode. But, like I say at the end, I would love to hear your opinion if you're pro warm ups in a class environment. I just find them to be a waste of time.
Small caveat that I should of mentioned but simply forgot. I have found that warm ups in kids/teen classes are really helpful for getting kids focused and ready for class.

#62 Alex Mazhukhin: Mr. Build It Does Jiu-Jitsu
As a grappler, do you ever watch a tv show or youtube channel and think, "This guy is so cool, I bet he'd love jiu-jitsu?"
Maybe I am the only weirdo who does that. Either way, finding out that someone that you look up to trains is such a fun experience!
That is what happened to me a few weeks back when I found out Alex Mazhukhin(@mr.build_it) aka Mr.Build It on Youtube, took up jiu-jitsu a few years back.
In this interview you get to see someone who is highly successful in one creative aspect who is applying those principles to jiu-jitsu.
Alex also gives some extremely helpful tips to Josh(@thejoshmckinney) on social media that those of you who may want to enter the influencer world may really benefit from!
