Jeff & Laura Sandefer - Heroes of Education

Today's guests are people who are near and dear to Matt's heart. Jeff and Laura Sandefer, the founders and creators of Acton Academy, are the people who started it all. What started as something they wanted to build for their own children has grown into an alternative education program with locations across the world.  After being awarded the highly competitive Walter Wattles Fellowship at Lloyd’s of London, Laura worked in the aviation insurance industry in New York City.  Deciding to follow her calling into the world of education, Laura returned to Nashville and earned her Master of Education at Peabody College. This led her to her work at the Oklahoma Arts Institute, creating fine arts education programs for teachers and talented high school students. Laura married Jeff Sandefer and is the happy mother of Sam and Charlie and step-mother to Taite. It is the inspiration of these children that led Laura and Jeff to co-found Acton Academy. As an entrepreneur, Jeff founded his first company at age 16 and went on to found or co-found seven successful businesses. As a Socratic teacher at the University of Texas, Jeff’s students five times voted him the school’s Outstanding Teacher and Businessweek named him one of the top Entrepreneurship professors in America. Jeff went on to co-found the Acton School of Business, an MBA program perennially ranked by the Princeton Review among the best in the nation. In 2012 The Economist honored him as one of the top fifteen Business School professors in the world. Jeff is a graduate of the Harvard Business School, where he served for over twenty years on the school’s governing committees. He was a longtime director of the Philanthropy Roundtable and National Review magazine and one of the youngest members ever elected to the Texas Business Hall of Fame. Mikhaila Peterson - An Unconventional Self-Healer

Mikhaila Peterson suffered most of her childhood with multiple health problems, starting with joint pain at the ripe age of 2 years old. By the time she was 7, she was diagnosed with extremely severe Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis with 37 actively inflamed joints. She began treatment with several medically prescribed drugs and as her health continued to decline, she was also diagnosed with severe depression, she experienced hypomanic episodes (Bipolar Type 2), and suffered from fairly severe OCD tendencies. So they added more prescriptions. Over the years Mikhaila's health continued to decline until she decided to experiment with an elimination diet. She continued to experiment with her diet until she found what works best for her, and thus was born the Lion diet. As the founder of the Lion diet, Mikhaila now spends her time educating others about how diet affects overall health using her personal story and the stories of others who see results following the strict diet. Lenore Skenazy - America’s ”Worst” Mom

Lenore Skenazy is president of Let Grow, a non-profit promoting childhood independence and resilience, and founder of the Free-Range Kids movement. She is also a speaker, blogger, syndicated columnist, author, and reality show host. A mother who lives in Queens, her controversial decision to let her then-9-year-old son take the New York City Subway home alone became a national story and prompted massive media attention. She was dubbed, "America's Worst Mom." In response, Skenazy founded the book and blog "Free Range Kids," with the aim of "fighting the belief that our children are in constant danger from creeps, kidnapping, germs, grades, flashers, frustration, failure, baby snatchers, bugs, bullies, men, sleepovers and/or the perils of a non-organic grape." Let Grow, co-founded in 2018 with Daniel Shuchman, Dr. Peter Gray and Prof. Jonathan Haidt, continues the quest to make it "easy, normal and legal" to give kids back some old-fashioned independence of thought and deed. Relationships, Money, Health And Success can be achieved With Brad Lea

Some people think of success as something they'll achieve once they've reached a certain age or have made a certain amount of money. Others believe it's something that happens when they reach the top of their field and are recognized by their peers for their achievements. Regardless of what your definition is, one thing is clear: everyone around us affects what we think and do, our plans, and our goals. How do we use this power to our advantage? Success can be achieved by any means—you just need to know how. Brad Lea is a businessman and entrepreneur. He owns a number of businesses and has extensive experience in sales, life, and business. Brad assists people in becoming better people. Brad has made every mistake in the book but has learned a lot along the way. He always provides clarity in a chaotic world and always tells the truth. He has met many people, has been blessed with an incredible network, has revolutionized online learning, and has had a massive impact on the lives of many people, including his own. Tune in as young leaders ask questions about life, personal growth, entrepreneurship, and more! Quotes: “The difference between a good and a bad salesperson is that the good one knows they're doing it. The bad one, on the other hand, does not.” – Brad Lea “When someone has an opinion about you, take note. But don't base your decisions on what someone else thinks you need. Go worry about what you believe you require.” – Brad Lea “Have a strong sense of your own importance, backed up with ethics and integrity.” – Brad Lea Takeaways: Relationships, money, and health are all intertwined and serve as your success tool. You get more concentrated as you get healthier. And focus allows you to complete more work and earn more money, which leads to more relationships. The road to success is not an easy one. Improving your way of thinking, your skill set, and your dedication to practicing positive routines is a process that never ends. If you observe a successful person and want to be just like him, you should explore what they do every day, including how they think and what they do. Resemble their daily routine and make it a habit. Absolutely, you will achieve your goals. Conclusion: You should not give other people the ability to choose your path of action. You will never be able to control the thoughts of other people, nor will you ever be able to win everyone's approval. Neither of these things are even somewhat possible. Simply be yourself and focus on developing yourself as much as possible. Keep your attention on your commitments and goals.
