Angela Puca, MA, PhD Candidate, is a Lecturer at Leeds Trinity University and a Doctoral Researcher in the Department of Religious Studies at University of Leeds/Leeds Trinity University. Bernard Carr, PhD, is emeritus professor of mathematics and astronomy at Queen Mary University of London. He is coauthor of the book Quantum Black Holes and he is also editor of the anthology Universe or Multiverse? Serena Roney-Dougal, PhD, received a doctoral degree the University of Surrey, in the United Kingdom, for a parapsychological dissertation. Here she describes the results of a survey in which over 300 respondents reported details of experiences that fit the pattern of a Kundalini awakening. One surprising finding was that the reports matched those found in the writings of the tenth century philosopher and theologian, Abinavagupta. She explains the classical descriptions of Kundalini and endeavors to describe how this could be conceptualized in terms of contemporary neuroscience.
