Crisis Reveals Character: Simple 3 Step Strategy Help People Regain Themselves (13 Minute Lesson)

Send us a textThis three-step strategy helps leaders facilitate positive movement towards high integrity and character that often people can lose during a time of a crisis. This does not mean people lack character it's just that they lose sight of it especially during the crisis when stress and anxiety can be high. Here is that three-step process:  1)      Ask Questions- when asking questions such as the self-actualized question “What will you do positively two... fill in the blank “ - this prompts people to think and frame out the responses to be positive which ultimately assists in the process of changing their behavior and mentality. 2)     Use Reflection Strategically - Ask questions and provide time to reflect. Literally ask people questions and tell them you do not want an answer just now rather you want to give them ample time to truly think about a thoughtful and professional response. Change is Here To Stay & What to Do About It (6 Minute Lesson)

Send us a textIf the pandemic crisis has taught us anything it's that change is here and it's here to stay. How do we help our people change? What are the steps to facilitate change? Here's a brief overview of how to coach to the three levels of change: Effort - the first stage of change is a person's effort. If we acknowledge and reward each person's effort they will move in the direction of the second stage which is progress. If people are at the effort stage and all they hear is constructive feedback human nature is going to cause them to potentially quit or produce less effort. Progress-the second stage of change is a person's progress. This is where the coach needs to pinpoint and acknowledge specific areas of progress so people know what to continue to produce in terms of effort as well as realize where they are indeed improving. If progress is acknowledged and pinpointed people will move in the direction of the third stage results. Results-results need to be predictable and sustainable in the way this is achieved is by always acknowledging and nurturing a person's effort and progress; therefore, results become more predictable and achievable on an ongoing basis.On July 16th at 11:00 am cst we are doing a webcast workshop on coaching to the new normal. Here's a simplistic view of those employee types:Dedicated influencers- dedicated influencers find a way and seek ways to help the team and the organization as well as their teammates on a daily basis. They go above and beyond the call of duty seeking ways to push the organization and the team forward.Doers- doers are exactly what they sound like, they do their job and often do it fairly well meeting core requirements. When around detractors they will not join them nor will they find ways to join the dedicated influencers, often succumbing to what is expected nothing more and nothing less.Detractors- detractors are people who simply find ways to pull people back. We Have Stopped Listening to One Another

Send us a textWe have clearly stop listening to one another and I think the major reason is were not talking directly to each other. We tend to talk to other people or through social media outlets. We have to go to the source and to have one major objective at the forefront of all of our minds: to have a thoughtful and considerate conversation. If our objective is emotional with a desire to convince somebody that they are wrong or why you are right this typically ends in an argument.
