Stephanie Johnson, an ICM photographer and founder of ICM Photography Magazine, talks about her journey into ICM photography, the impact it has had on her life, and her background serving in the US Marine Corps. They discuss the concept of ICM photography, their preference for shooting in nature, and their transition to intentional camera movement. Stephanie also shares her experience building a community around ICM photography through her magazine and collaborations with other photographers. They touch on personal experiences in the military, finding freedom through photography, and the importance of deeper connections within the community.

Matt Kennedy is a motion picture stills photographer from California. Matt has worked on movies including Spiderman, No Way Home, Black Panther, Fast and Furious 8 as well as the new Obi Wan Kenobi series for Disney, Star Trek Picard and many more movies that you’ve probably seen. Matt has been nominated for several International Cinematographers Guild awards, In 2018, he was invited to join the prestigous Society of Motion Picture Still Photographers and some of his photographs from Black Panther are displayed in the Smothsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture.   We talk about how Matt first got into the movie business, how he became a unit still photographer, what it was like working on the latest Spiderman film, which went on to become one of the biggest movies of all time and some of the experiences he’s had along the way. George Steinmetz is a documentary photographer based in New Jersey, who has shot more than 40 major photo essays for National Geographic. He has won three prizes from World Press Photo, the Environmental Vision award from Pictures of the Year, a citation from the Overseas Press Club, he was named National Geographic’s Adventurer of the Year in 2008 and he has a 1 million strong following on Instagram.George is best know for his aerial photography, mainly using a motorised paraglider, which enables him to capture unique images of places inaccessible by traditional aircraft. His restless curiosity for the unknown drove him to hitchhike across Africa as a young man and has been the drive behind his epic body of work which covers remote landscapes, climate change and global food supply. George’s work has huge scope and scale and our conversation touches on a few of George’s long-term projects, how and why he got into aerial photography and how he was almost shot with an arrow. Robin Moore is a  wildlife photographer and conservationist who’s images have been featured in National Geographic, the Economist, Esquire magazine, the Telegraph Magazine, PDN, American Photo magazine, Outdoor Photographer, Wanderlust, and many more publications and you’ve probably seen his photographs of Nairobi’s Giraffe Hotel or Giraffe Manor which went viral a few years ago. Marc Pickering is a landscape photographer based in Argyll, Scotland. He is the winner of the Landscape Category of the 2021 Scottish Landscape Photographer of the Year for his image, First Light, Loch Ederline. Marc is uniquely in-tune with the Scottish landscape. He spends all day outdoors through his day job, working for Forestry and Land Scotland, helping to manage Scotland’s woodlands. Marsel Van Oosten is a nature photographer based in South Africa, originally from the Netherlands. As well as being a regular contributor to National Geographic, he’s also won Wildlife Photographer of the Year, Travel Photographer of the Year, Landscape Photographer of the Year, European Wildlife Photographer of the Year, IPA Nature Photographer of the Year, the National Geographic Traveller Award and many many more awards. Before photography, Marsel had a successful career in advertising and in our conversation, he shares the amazing story of how he took a year long journey around Africa to build his portfolio when he began his career as a nature photographer. Marsel has just published a coffee table book, Mother - A Tribute to Mother Earth which draws on his epic portfolio to shine a light on some of the threats our planet is facing . Nikola Kostic is a travel and documentary photographer and film maker based in Indonesia. Nikola moved to Bali in 1998 from his home country of Serbia and fell into photography when his uncle asked him to photograph some jewellery. He quickly found himself as a busy, commercial photographer as Bali transitioned from a sleepy island to a bustling tourist hotspot. Nikola’s work is incredibly diverse featuring portraits, food, dance, interiors, cityscapes, golf courses and much more. All of this experience pours into his latest project - making a documentary film about the construction of the first sustainable, zero waste island in south east Asia, which is being developed by his wife, a lady who also builds luxury yachts. I really enjoyed meeting Nikola - he’s such a passionate and interesting guy who is a great story teller and a fantastic photographer. Scott Hargis, based in Oakland, California, is one of Americas finest Architecture and Interior Photographers.After being burned out in a corporate job Scott took up photography in his mid 30s, eventually niching in to real estate photography before specialising in architecture and interiors. Our conversation covers how Scott creates photographs the FEEL the way a room feels, as well as really digging into some of the nuances of how he works like the importance of including a human element, chiaroscuro, visual acoustics and why he carries a makeup mirror with him at all times. For me, as a working, assignment photographer I LOVED this conversation and hearing how Scott combines his impressive technical skills with an ability to communicate emotionally through his photography was truly inspiring to me.
