Controversial Thoughts: How to build your tribe in 2021

Harvard did a 75 year study of men looking at factors correlating with health. What was the greatest predictor? Community! The first ever #animalbased gathering just wrapped up here in Costa Rica, and I couldn't NOT talk about it in this week's edition of Controversial Thoughts! It would be a huge understatement to say that the gathering was a success, it was simply incredible. Having nearly 100 people here in Costa Rica from all over the world who are interested in #theremembering of where we have come from as humans... We surfed, ate meat and liver, drank coconuts, swam in the ocean, jumped off of waterfalls, sailed, saw whales, hiked, explored, danced, and watched amazing sunsets. There will be another one for sure- next year, likely in February. We are building the #animalbased tribe in a big way! If you want to be a part of it, email us at radicalhealth@heartandsoil.co and join us for our #AnimalBased30 next month @heartandsoilsupplements. Go to animnalbased30.com to take the pledge and sign up. It's free and there are a ton of resources there for you! Welcome to #theremembering

118. Will eating too much meat harm your kidneys?

This one is easy, the answer is no!    In this week's controversial thoughts video I break this down and provide multiple interventional studies that corroborate my position.   Diets up to 3.3g/kg have been studied and do not show any adverse events on kidney function. Why would they?    We know from the anthropology literature that hunter-gatherer groups like the Hadza (who I visited earlier this year) and the !kung San often eat up to 4.5 lbs of meat per day when a large game animal has been successfully hunted.    Curious about an #animalbased diet? Join us this August @heartandsoilsupplements for our next #AnimalBased30, a 30 day challenge to eat an #animalbased diet and kick lots of ass. Take the pledge at www.animalbased30.com.    PS this video also contains a study about the utility of vaccination in those previously infected with COVID.    #theremembering

Controversial Thoughts: What I think about mushrooms, olive oil, and avocado oil

Both plants and fungi are stuck in the ground and can't move and both have developed defense chemicals to protect themselves from predation. 99.5% of animals are edible Only 20-30% of plants are edible And only 20-30% of mushrooms are edible Listen to the video for more detailed information here but this is the take-away: mushrooms are survival food and I'm not convinced they have unique benefits we can't get from meat, organs, or other less toxic plant foods. Olive oil: tallow is better and most is rancid/tainted Same is true for Avocado oil. Tallow is better and contains uniquely valuable nutrients like stearic acid, fat soluble vitamins, and odd chain fatty acids. Email us at radicalhealth@heartandsoil.co if you have any questions about how to eat an #animalbased diet! #theremembering

Controversial Thoughts: Do plants really contain toxic chemicals?

Do plants really contain toxic chemicals? Short answer: Yes. If you want a more in depth discussion check out this week's version of Controversial Thoughts as I attempt yet again to appease the gods of social media by pausing the extremely controversial conversations about #chocolate cake and censorship. Here's the deal. For 450 million years or so animals and plants have been at war. Herbivorous animals want to eat plants, plants must evolve spikes, hard shells, and defense chemicals if they want to survive and pass on their DNA. Simple as that. Plants are FULL of defense chemicals. Herbivorous animals have evolved many ways to deal with these, animal-based omnivores like humans possibly have not... Not all vegetables will kill you dead instantly when you eat them, but why eat survival food when you can eat organs, meat, and the less toxic parts of plants like fruit?? I break it all down in this video! #theremembering

114. If our words can be censored are we really free?

In this week's episode of Controversial Thoughts I wanted to rant a bit about freedom and censorship as we approach July 4th. According to Dr. Fauci, we can do whatever we want on the 4th of July if we are vaccinated, but does that mean we can talk about potential downsides of the vaccine? What about ivermectin? How about diet and nutrition and the role metabolic health plays in the course of COVID? Don't think so. Speaking too loudly about those things will get you censored on many platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube (props to Twitter for allowing much of this dialogue to happen). Who writes the community guidelines, anyway? And more importantly, who will write our history? Zuckerberg? Big pharma? I pray not! #theremembering
