This Is Going to Change Your Life with Matthew Dicks
Episode 58. This Is Going to Change Your Life with Matthew Dicks
What are the secrets of award-winning stories? How learning about stories will ruin movies forever? What is the one habit that will make you a better storyteller and also change your life?
Welcome to The Storypowers Podcast, the show about the power of stories, the people who tell them and why you should be doing it too. I’m your host, keynote speaker and storytelling coach, Francisco Mahfuz.
My guest today is Matthew Dicks.
Matthew and I have a lot in common. We have both taught storytelling around the world and written on the value of sharing our most embarrassing moments in front of an audience. We have lived in apartments that smelled like curry, learned important lessons from Brazilian teenagers, and been accused of crimes we didn’t commit.
But that’s where our similarities end, because Matthew is a teacher, bestselling author of multiple books and, having won The Moth’s StorySlam 50 times and their GrandSlam 6 times, he is arguably one of the best storytellers in the world.
The book we refer to throughout the episode is Storyworthy: Engage, Teach, Persuade and Change Your Life through the Power of Storytelling.

From Nothing to Notable with Ryan Avery
Episode 56. From Nothing to Notable with Ryan Avery
How do you use stories to stop being "a" leader and become "the" leader? What's the problem with motivational speakers? And why should you NOT step out of your comfort zone?
Welcome to The Storypowers Podcast, the show about the power of stories, the people who tell them and why you should be doing it too. I’m your host, keynote speaker and storytelling coach, Francisco Mahfuz.

Ryan is one of the nicest people you could ever meet, but he’s been making me feel guilty for a decade. In 2012, I joined Toastmasters, and after I delivered a handful of speeches that got raving feedback, I honestly thought I was a rising star in the public speaking world.
And then Ryan, at age 25, became the youngest World Champion of Public Speaking in history, only 8 MONTHS after he joined. Thanks for that, Ryan.
Since that day, Ryan has delivered more than 500+ keynotes in 33 countries around the globe, on his mission to show leaders how to Go From A to THE® in their industry.
